It’s mainly a sweet perfume. It reminded me of others like Cacharel’s Amor Amor or YSL’s Manifesto. I get the point of licorice and vanilla very easily; the rest of the components are more subtle on my nose. I’m not passionate about it, but it’s a pleasant scent; yes, I couldn’t use it daily because I’d get bored. I imagine it on a young girl, with that youthful air, sweet but bold at the same time. I’ve read that some compare it to Thierry Mugler’s Angel; for me, they have absolutely nothing in common. Angel is unbearable for me, and besides, I don’t find any similar notes.
The result of the love affair between Alien and Lolita Lempicka has given birth to this wonderful love potion. What’s innovative is the touch of gardenia. I think it’s a charming fragrance.
At first, this scent on the skin is very rich when you apply it, but unfortunately, it doesn’t last at all. I prefer perfumes that last. It’s a pity because it’s expensive, it smells very good, but as a perfume, it doesn’t last.
It’s very good, sweet but not overpowering. I think it should be used with the shower gel so its scent is enhanced and lasts longer.
Delicious!!!!!!
It seems like a fine fragrance for the woman of today: dynamic, intelligent, creative, tailored to girls of this time. I love the strength with which it opens its doors and invites you into its heart full of licorice and floral aromas… wonderful, I love it.
I love this perfume. I’m not a fan of licorice, but this one smells great. The first spray is pure licorice, all kinds of sweet licorice. Star anise is very strong at first, but it calms down quickly and the sweet citrus and floral notes appear, very pleasant. My favorite part is the sillage: subtle licorice notes surrounded by vanilla. It has a sweet and refreshing quality that I absolutely adore.
Diesel Loverdose, my first perfume. It all started when my ex-brother-in-law and I went to the perfume store to buy my sister a Christmas gift. After sniffing about 10 or 12 perfumes, we landed on Black XS L’excès and Loverdose; both were penetrating and sweet. We thought my sister would prefer Black XS and left the other on the shelf, but I was mesmerized by that little purple crystal heart. I’d never smelled anything like it; it was like cinnamon, burnt cinnamon. I remember it perfectly and couldn’t stop thinking about taking it with me. After months of being very ‘subtle’ (the opposite) with my guy to get him to gift it to me, I finally got it last Christmas. Now I see it on my shelf and think: what would I have been without you? Loverdose is perfect for lovers of spices and sweet, feminine scents. The first note is anise, but not the strong, bitter masculine kind, but a sweet, feminine one. Then comes something synthetic, like syrup or licorice, very sweet. Third, I’d say there’s a fruity note, candied and creamy orange. It brings me many memories, gives me good vibes, and is essential when I need to feel good and comfortable with myself. If I had to say something bad, it’s probably the longevity; it seems a bit short to me. But except for that, it’s a 10.
For lovers of sweet scents, licorice, and anise… it’s not my case, I didn’t like it, although I admit it’s quite bold.
I’ve been using this for years and I’m running low on it. Before, I wore it daily because for me, perfumes aren’t about the day of the week but about my mood, and I was always super happy xD. It’s a very sweet scent with a bitter touch that makes it special. It lasts quite a while on the skin and has a moderate sillage. I still wear it when I’m wide awake, active, and ready to do a thousand things at once, because it’s a scent that accompanies you and molds to whatever you’re doing. It’s not heavy, but not delicate either.
A mysterious aroma; I can’t tell if it’s floral or sweet, but I loved the bottle.
Do you like subtle sweet perfumes? This one is for you. My husband doesn’t like overwhelming floral or sweet fragrances that give headaches; this isn’t one of those. That’s why he likes it. It’s more sophisticated and delicate, very feminine; when I smell it, I think of a refined woman, in a blazer or dress, especially with heels. I think it’s for women between 22 and 50, confident in themselves. I’d wear it in the late afternoon; it’s very versatile and can be used for any occasion. I had a sample, it didn’t kill me to run out and buy it, but it’s not that it’s bad, my husband liked it. To each their own. If someone gifted it to me, I’d use it, but I wouldn’t go crazy to buy it myself. Trail 9/10, Longevity 8.1/10, Scent 8.1/10.
An intoxicatingly sweet scent thanks to the licorice, it’s long-lasting, has a good trail, and personality. Ideally for going out at night in cold weather; I can’t imagine wearing it in the morning on a hot day.
I can’t believe the luck I’ve had with this perfume. I’ve wanted it for a while and today I found the large bottle discounted by more than half because it came without a box and in perfect condition. As I said, great opportunity. It’s very much my taste. At first, you feel the licorice mostly. It feels similar to Lolita Lempicka, I suppose due to the mix of anise, licorice, and vanilla. It leaves a very rich, sweet, and appetizing base. It’s truly a ‘love dose’.
There was a time when Diesel had low credibility and low prices, making them accessible and without quality pressure, from which their best pieces emerged, like the Green line, presented with dignity, worthy of being the cousin of Moschino’s Fresh. As a cosmic joke, their prices and credibility rose in the late 2000s alongside a drop in quality, from the vulgar Bad to the mediocre Only the Brave. Loverdose is a female pillar of arrogant Diesel (in relation to price). On one hand, it has appreciable qualities; on the other, a structure similar to what is scarce in complexity and is tetraphically unbalanced. It starts with a thick note of licorice and anise, with a touch of mandarin, moves through an almost imperceptible floral transition, and ends with spiced oriental vanilla (all at indecorously subtle levels). Loverdose takes aspects from Lolita Lempicka’s Le Premier Parfum and fuses them with secondary notes from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique, before adding a bit of nihilism and conformity (betrayed by its linear and predictable development). It’s a fragrance created with a simple idea: sweet is in. However, in a market stuffed with La Vie Est Belle or other exothermically sweet things, there’s a segment asking for more relaxed and less transgressive fragrances. Loverdose answers that: it has a touch of mystery, uses the fruit-gourmand infusion technique without trying to cause diabetes, belonging to the same current as Viktor&Rolf’s Bonbon or La Vie Est Belle in less concentrated formats. The heart-shaped bottle gives a romantic and mysterious impression, but Loverdose is only that in appearance; it has an indifferent humor and a taciturn nature, it’s not suggestive or particularly seductive, it has a cold and melancholic charm, which gives it originality in a market of poisonous girls and naive positivist philosophers. The trail is subtle and longevity is extensive; it’s not the quintessence of rule-breakers, but it’s a pleasant fragrance, I don’t see it as a waste (though it’s worth less than they charge).
Loverdose was a gift from my husband; he knows I love sweet scents and bought it for Valentine’s Day. Since then, it’s been my drug… This perfume has something that boosts your mood, what a wonder! This purple bottle is so much, too much! Licorice and vanilla, and I love it so much that when it runs out, I’ll ask for another.
It’s very versatile. Despite being sweet, I think it works well in spring thanks to the fresh opening from the mandarin, which is very soft, highlighting the anise and licorice. I feel it’s ideal to apply right after a shower to feel both sweet and fresh. It’s not one I’d repurchase for my collection; I prefer Red Kiss, but I don’t dislike its aroma.
It’s marvelous! The bottle is charming, the scent is sweet, enveloping, long-lasting, and warm. I’m fascinated by it; it reminds me of much more expensive perfumes. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
I love it! Obviously not for hot days, but perfect for fall, winter, and spring. It’s sweet without being cloying. I mostly notice the star anise, and since I love putting one in my infusions… Anyway, even though it doesn’t last long on my skin (about 3 hours), its rich scent makes up for it. I think it’s just a matter of skin chemistry, because no perfume lasts this long on me.
A bit overwhelming for me, though I absolutely love the dry-down. It projects well and leaves a trail. The licorice note is very prominent. It’s good, ideal for winter; in summer it might be too much. On my skin, it ends up smelling like Lolita Lempicka. I thought I’d love it based on the notes, but there’s something that makes it feel dense and heavy. What a pity we didn’t have chemistry.
Amazing. Sweet without being heavy. Sparkling, flirtatious, cheerful, and youthful. I love the scent it leaves on the skin once it settles. You can’t stop smelling yourself, and people always ask what perfume you’re wearing. It’s wonderful. To me, it leaves a delicious almond note. I just added it to my collection and I love it!
A blend between Lolita Lempicka and Alien, but much softer and less long-lasting than those two.
A very intense fragrance, very similar to Lolita Lempicka or La Petite Robe Noir due to its licorice and anise notes. Personally, I don’t care for these ingredients, especially in a perfume. Great longevity, sillage, and projection.
Diesel LoVERDoSE: This month is my anniversary, and I was looking for a new, special, and different perfume that would enchant both my husband and me, one that matches the heat of dancing we love and our night outs—in other words, party-ready yet romantic… difficult, but I found it! Diesel LoVERDoSE contains molecules that stimulate the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for attraction. It’s a very romantic scent. The name is a wordplay: ‘Lover Dose’ or ‘Love Overdose’—a beautiful weapon made of fragrance to ignite passions! The composition is a spicy floral, fresh at first with star anise and mandarin. The surprise hits at ten minutes: it turns into a seductive bomb. Sambac jasmine petals, licorice, and gardenia form the heart, sitting on an oriental dry-down of amber, patchouli, vanilla, and wood. It has a liquor note that reminds me of exquisite Peruvian pisco. It smells gorgeous, sweet, floral, citrusy, and deep. The bottle is lovely, one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The licorice sweetness is prominent but not cloying; it’s a delicious caramel. This gives a mood lift, warms the heart, and puts a smile on your face—cheerful. It’s a very romantic perfume. Like the joy of love, it captures that feeling. I like it for any season; it lasts until the next shower and has excellent sillage. The bottle deserves an award like the scent itself: romance and joy in a bottle designed symbolically as a heart pierced by an arrow with intense purple tones—pure beauty! Warning: IT CAN BE ADDICTIVE!💜
Sweet, perfect for cold days, winter, and chilly nights. Yesterday I tried Thierry Mugler’s Angel and Lolita Lempicka, and they have nothing in common with this, nor does it resemble them. This is a super wearable scent with medium sillage that lasts all day for me. I see it as suitable for young women and younger adults, but an older lady can wear it perfectly too. Its dry-down is exquisite. It reminds me a lot of Ralph Lauren’s Hot; they share similar notes.
The scent is very sweet; it’s great if you like milky, vanilla, and sweet perfumes. However, I regret buying it; for me, its trail is non-existent, and its longevity is also lacking.
It’s a Lolita Lempicka with a bolder, more sensual vibe. But the main notes, anise and licorice, are so characteristic of Lolita that comparisons are unavoidable… I wouldn’t want two of the same… I prefer the Diesel bottle, although it is a bit pricier. In terms of value, Lolita seems to win, but it’s another option.
Charming! The anise is very noticeable; it’s so lovely, enveloping, and elegant. It was hard to find since it’s discontinued, but I finally have it in my collection. I’ll treasure it and enjoy it with great affection.
It’s sweet, and the anise notes dominate. It tastes delicious, though I wish it had more projection. All in all, it’s a delightful fragrance.
The anise note is very prominent; it’s an exquisite fragrance, but for me, it’s too soft with weak projection and short longevity. On my skin, it lasts about 3 hours and eventually sits right up against the skin. Still, I absolutely love it.
I’m reviewing this because I own it; my sister gifted it to me. The bottle is gorgeous, I love it, and it suits my personality well, so I guess that’s why she gave it to me. But I don’t like anise in perfumes; I can’t detect the mandarin, and what becomes overwhelming after a while are the florals; at least on my chemistry, they’re suffocating, smelling too strong and lasting until the next day, which would be great if I liked them xd. Anyway, I only keep it in my collection for the beautiful bottle, and I think it should only be worn in cold weather if your pH is like mine, where the florals always come out too strong.
I smelled it today at Perfumerías Unidas, thank God they finally brought new perfumes to my country. This isn’t available at big department stores, because it’s a gem. But my goodness, what a delight. It should have been the true Black Opium Nuit Blanche, because I feel they’re similar, but without that powdery touch; it’s simply sweet and anise-forward. Strong trail, unique, better than what I own, simple without being loud, elegant, nocturnal, and timeless. Not overwhelming for daily wear. A treasure of a scent, and the best part is that it’s accessible.
At first spray, the mandarin orange is very noticeable—quite fresh and defined. Then it settles into all licorice and subtle anise. It’s quite long-lasting on my skin, even though I’ve read contrary reviews. However, it’s just too much licorice for me.
This little perfume is very sweet; you have to be careful not to overdo it 😆 I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet scents, but I like to wear it on the spur of the moment. It’s fun, smells like an addictive, boozy little treat. The anise is well-defined; I wouldn’t wear it every day, neveeer, lol, I don’t want to get bored of it.
Oh, this perfume brings back so many memories. It was one of the first I added to my collection, and I hold a fond memory of its scent. It’s very sweet, quite anise-forward, with a noticeable licorice dry-down. It has a lot of personality. Lasts about 6 hours and leaves a dense trail.
It’s the only perfume that’s made me buy it twice, solely because the bottle is gorgeous. It’s a lovely spiced vanilla with presence for cold weather. On my skin, the flowers and mandarine don’t develop well; instead, the anise and licorice dominate so much that, even though the sillage is low and doesn’t bother others, I can’t stand it—it suffocates me and gives me a stomach ache. I’ve stopped wearing it because I don’t want perfumes just for the bottle; I prefer letting someone else wear it properly.
I find it exquisite, though I wish it had more projection. Does anyone know a similar scent but with more punch?
It smells like caramel for the first thirty minutes; I don’t love it, but it has me hooked at the same time.
I’ve been repurchasing LoveDose since 2013. It’s an oriental, sweet, vanilla-forward fragrance, but well-balanced. The spicy citrus opening with anise and mandarin is incredibly addictive. Then the licorice, with its boozy touch, takes over, reminding me a bit of Lolita Lempicka, though LoveDose feels warmer and better suited for late afternoon and evening. Tolerating the anise-licorice blend is key. Its vanilla is velvety and never overwhelming. I wear it in low doses during autumn and winter because it projects heavily in enclosed spaces. I can’t mention the faceted heart-shaped bottle without noting how perfectly it matches the name and that narcotic fragrance seeking a ‘love overdose.’ It’s usually a great price at retailers in Chile, offering excellent value.
LoveDose is a bold, addictive bomb designed to turn heads. It opens with the spicy freshness of star anise and a mandarin spark, creating a vibrant and provocative start. The heart features the queen note: sweet, dark licorice blending with jasmine and gardenia for a floral-gourmand contrast. The dry down is warm and enveloping with creamy vanilla, amber, and woods, leaving a long-lasting, magnetic, feminine trail. Perfect for the mysterious, seductive, and rebellious soul. Ideal for night, dates, or any moment where you want to stand out with an intense, uncommon scent.
