Descripción

Only The Brave Street by Diesel is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, the nose behind this composition is Nelly Hachem-Ruiz. The top notes unfold with basil, apple, bergamot, and thyme; the heart reveals licorice, cardamom, and Hedione; while the base notes close with vanilla, vetiver, Amberwood, cedar, and patchouli.

A bit cloying; I’d say it’s for teenagers. The dry-down is quite rich, leaving vanilla, sweet incense, and patchouli. Suitable for winter.

Sweet and fresh at first, with a dry-down that is exquisitely woody and vanilla-like. The opening can be cloying, but then it becomes addictive. Ideal for cold or fresh days and nights. It delivers, no doubt about it.

My favorite of the Diesel line, a house that in my opinion isn’t great in designer perfumery. Fresh at first, then it sweetens, becomes woody, and spices up as it dries, evolving into something more nocturnal thanks to the patchouli and vetiver. Everything is moderate. It lasts 4-5 hours well with little sillage, honestly. It’s one of the few non-niche scents with a licorice note like the Lolita Lempickas. If you like that note, you know what to do. As the comparisons say, it’s a mix of Gaultier’s Ultra Male and Lempicka’s Au Masculin. Totally youthful, but a guy aged 30 or 40 with a young spirit and casual clothes can wear it too. Versatile. As an aroma, nothing new under the sun, but I find it better than other Diesel fragrances that are quite weak in longevity and charm.

What the hell is wrong with modern perfumery? They stick to the intentions. The worst part is that Diesel tries to reinvent the wheel 30 times; in the case of Only the Brave, it absolutely follows the pattern of reusing bottles with minimal changes to sell nonsensical concepts. I admit they have business merit because they’re selling something, but… wow! It could be done better with more natural essences, because nothing is more synthetic than this line. It’s a pity because there’s something interesting but poorly executed. It’s not the poor performance (4 hours without projection), but that licorice note with a toasted or… ‘burnt’ touch? That’s very interesting and not unpleasant (not charred, mind you 😅). It appears in the second hour, and I wish they had rounded it out better with natural ingredients and a story to tell. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. Anyway, Diesel stays the course, and for now, it will only enter my collection in the form of samples and more samples of something that could have been but wasn’t. A pity… Cheers! If you like my reviews, follow my channel on TikTok: Chuliá Parfum Reviews @chulia.my13parfums

  • Starts sweet with a very pleasant fruity touch, but then vanilla takes over the show. It’s a rich perfume, though its only flaw is longevity: about half an hour of projection, and then it clings to the skin for maybe 4 hours at most.
