Light Blue by D&G was born as a winner in 2007. The 2018 Italian Zest version removes the Virginia juniper and pushes the pepper to the end, instead highlighting the mandarin and bergamot. Maybe it could use more bergamot, but the mandarin makes it fruitier and less spicy than the original 2007, since the pepper is almost unnoticeable. In short, Italian Zest screams: ‘I won’t last, I’m just for this summer’.
A catastrophe. The worst thing I’ve smelled on my nose lately. It smells totally artificial and chemical; I let it dry down and it didn’t improve at all. I didn’t detect a single note from the list, it’s a worthless disaster, better not to buy it.
Horrible. One of the worst things I’ve smelled lately… at least on my nose. Totally artificial and chemical. I let it dry down and it didn’t get better. I didn’t detect a single note from the list. It’s a chemical disaster with no value. Pass.
A fairly ‘salty’ citrus scent that borders on mundane or vulgar, like a homemade kitchen cleaner, quite artificial. With low sillage, that smell lasted almost an hour; afterward, the salty sensation faded and it became a more serious scent, similar to the classic Armani Acqua di Giò but closer to the skin. I could only smell it by pressing my nose to my forearm; it lasted like that for another 3 hours before disappearing. As mentioned, tastes vary for everyone, but I didn’t like it; I thought it was a bad fragrance, extremely chemical and artificial, very ugly. Apparently, it’s a limited edition, so when it disappears, know that you won’t miss much.
For those who love citrus, this catches the eye. It’s a pity that Italian Zest is just a copy of Light Blue with an extra touch of lemon at the start. It has the same longevity and sillage, so if you already own the original, this is just a collector’s luxury for those willing to pay for it. I think it’s a good fragrance because Light Blue fascinates me and this is practically the same.
I love that initial smoky pineapple touch, but unfortunately it’s gone in a few hours…
The negative reviews are all correct. I tested it extensively at a nearby perfumery to find something positive in this monstrosity. It’s a synthetic, simplistic, and weak-character citrus fragrance. The pepper gives it some body, but it smells like watered-down original Light Blue, with lots of alcohol and few essences. The bottle is cute: summery, youthful, and carefree, but nothing more. Oh, and the Capri photo is wonderful. If you’re looking for a Mediterranean, citrusy, and aromatic scent, the best option remains the original Light Blue (in my humble opinion): richer and more nuanced. This is a ‘money grab’ through and through.
The previous negative reviews are all right. I tested a ton of it at home to find something positive in this monstrosity. It’s a synthetic, one-dimensional citrus fragrance with weak character. The pepper gives it some body, but it smells like the original Light Blue (which I like) watered down, with lots of alcohol and few essences. The bottle is cute: summery, youthful, and carefree, but nothing more. The Capri photo is wonderful. If you’re looking for a Mediterranean, citrus, and aromatic scent, the best is still the original Light Blue (in my opinion). Richer and with more nuances. This is a full-on ‘money grabber’.
For citrus lovers, this is striking. Unfortunately, Italian Zest is nothing more than a replica of Light Blue with a bit of lemon in the opening. Same longevity, same sillage; for someone who already owns the traditional one, it would just be a collector’s luxury, though some will pay the high price for it. I think it’s a good fragrance since Light Blue fascinates me, and this is practically the same thing.
A fairly ‘salty’ citrus aroma that borders on vulgar, like a homemade kitchen cleaner, very artificial. The sillage is low and stayed that way for almost an hour. Then it lost that salty smell and became more serious, like Armani Pour Homme, but always stuck to the skin; I could only smell it if I brought my nose close to my forearm. It lasted another 3 hours and then disappeared. As I said, tastes vary, but I didn’t like it. I thought it was a bad fragrance, extremely chemical, artificial, and ugly. Apparently it’s a limited edition, so when it disappears I’ll know I didn’t miss out.
Everything has been said about this ‘new fragrance.’ To give it a chance (I love the original Light Blue), I decided to test it and form my opinion. Disappointment… don’t buy it! It’s the original Light Blue heavily diluted with a powerful alcohol opening. A waste of money. D&G should pay perfumers to create new fragrances instead of releasing so many flankers. Alcohol opening, more alcohol, then citrus notes at seconds, after which the lemon disappears and the familiar Light Blue appears subtly, almost shyly, and after a couple of hours, there’s no trace left. It’s as if you never applied anything. If you want to waste money and have a nice bottle, go ahead, but don’t have high expectations.
For me, it has that smoky pineapple touch at first, but it fades away in a few hours…
Spectacularly strange; it smells like decomposed or very ripe oranges. Not rotten, but too ripe, leaning toward decomposition. It’s quite citrusy. It may or may not appeal to you; in my opinion, it’s rare but rich. It’s not a mass pleaser—you have to smell it first. The price is very high. Although, if it were cheaper, it would be curious to buy.
This vulgar fruity, citrusy, salty, artificial, synthetic, and overly chemical scent is the worst men’s fragrance from D&G in years. In my opinion, it smells like alcohol with rotten fruit and salt, plus it smells like a degreasing liquid cleaner like Brasso. The low longevity and mediocre sillage help avoid amplifying the bad smell, but I would never spend almost 2000 pesos on this trash.
This fruity, citrusy, salty, artificial, synthetic, and overly chemical vulgarity is without a doubt the worst men’s fragrance D&G has created in recent years; in my opinion, this abomination smells like alcohol mixed with rotting fruit and salt, plus it has a scent similar to Brasso-style degreasing kitchen cleaner. The low longevity and mediocre sillage at least help not to amplify the terrible aroma; after all, I’d never lower myself to spending almost 2000 pesos on this garbage.
Mediocre.
Buy some Pledge or a wood cleaner with lemon, and you get the same cheap, disastrous sensation.
It didn’t smell synthetic or like cleaner, nothing like that… in my opinion. It just smelled like fruit in another phase… and if other products on the market smell the same, well so be it. If I were a millionaire, I’d have it in my collection; I liked it at the time.
It didn’t smell synthetic, like cleaner, or anything weird. It simply smelled like fruit in another phase. If other products on the market smell like that, well, that’s their problem. If I were a millionaire, I’d add it to my collection; I liked it at the time.
Thank God I didn’t believe the hate in the comments; it arrived today and it’s a summer delight. It’s similar to the original Light Blue since it’s a flanker, but sharper and more citrusy; just before it becomes annoying, the musk gives it a special touch. I loved it and prefer it to the traditional one, though it remains in my top 3 (Italian Love, Love is Love, Sun, Summer, Eau Intense, Forever). My ranking: 1. Light Blue Sun (in some places it smells like eggs, but if you sit down, it’s amazing), 2. Light Blue Love is Love, 3. Italian Zest.
Thank God I didn’t believe the negative reviews! Today it arrived and it’s a summer delight. It’s similar to the original Light Blue, but punchier and more citrusy; right before it becomes annoying, the musk gives it a special touch. I loved it and prefer it to the traditional one, though it still sits in my top 3 (Italian Love, Love is Love, Sun, Summer, Eau Intense, Forever). My ranking: 1st Light Blue Sun (in some bottles it smells like eggs, if it happens to you it’s a rip-off), 2nd Light Blue Love is Love, 3rd Italian Zest.
