J’adore L’Or (2023) by Dior

J’Adore L’Or was also a gift from my partner, this time for my past birthday. As a curiosity, I’ll tell you that, wanting to surprise me at all costs, he went to the perfumery where a friend of his works and told her he wanted something that was a very, very recent novelty. They showed him several things and he settled on this perfume, of which they had really not sold a single unit yet and had to register it in the system to charge him. When I saw it, I didn’t even know it existed, and I was completely blown away. This perfume is a bold floral that will delight those who enjoy this type of aromas. It smells like indolic jasmine and yellow flowers; to my nose, with a great predominance of an unlisted ylang-ylang, with that characteristic smell that reminds me of banana, and we’ve seen it in other J’Adore flankers, although never so imposingly as here. I also seem to perceive some neroli in its composition, also not mentioned among its notes. In the later dry-down, it has a memory of the classic J’Adore but never gets very close to it. It is, in short, a sweet and overwhelming floral bouquet with a slightly ambered dry-down. Out of curiosity, I’ve been comparing it side by side with J’Adore L’Absolu, but both are perfumes that, to my nose, have little in common. J’Adore L’Absolu is closer in aroma to the classic J’Adore, while L’Or is a bolder and also sweeter perfume. As for its resemblance to Alien, it’s true that it’s there, but to my nose only in the late dry-down. It has a moderate-to-notable sillage and longevity on my skin that exceeds 10 hours. For me, it’s elegant and beautiful, although I’m aware it won’t be for every nose. Considering the very high price it launched at, I think it’s mandatory to try it before buying. Luckily for me, I love it. Although many people say it’s a perfume for mature women, it makes me feel beautiful and feminine to me… how beautiful is maturity! Master Kurkdjian has exquisite taste and a privileged nose. I opened the packaging with great delicacy. Before applying it, I admired the bottle, which honors its name “Love to Gold.” The cap emulates faceted gold to add more shine and elegance. Everything is finely cared for here: packaging, bottle, and liquid. Oh, what a beauty, what splendid handling of flowers! Here they dance to the same tune: orange blossom, neroli, jasmine, and violets; you can also detect ylang-ylang (which isn’t listed) and rose. The first phase is white flowers with ylang-ylang. Then, the one who truly directs the orchestra is the rose. I feel a strong rose aroma, but they aren’t bud roses; they are mature, very fruity roses emitting a scent similar to raspberries. All these flowers dry with honey (also not listed), but I do feel the just right sweetness of a honey (citrus comb honey) that wraps this bouquet of fine flowers very well. Does it resemble classic J’adore or Infinissime? No, it has its own seal. For me, it’s so unique, distinguished, and elegant. If you like proposals with white flowers and red roses, you’ve found what you’re looking for in J’adore L’Or. The longevity and trail are magnificent; you don’t need to reapply to be noticed for more than 8 hours. Plus, it’s versatile because it wears very well all year round.

Love at first sniff, instant lightning bolt. But I didn’t use it right away; I let it rest. Not out of forgetfulness, but with the faith that desire matures in waiting. Some perfumes shout, while others, like this one, need to be unwrapped slowly, like a dangerous gift. J’adore L’Or (2023) doesn’t shout; it whispers. It wraps you in white flowers like freshly made sheets, but underneath there’s something more: a creamy, intimate, and rich heartbeat. A fruit not listed on the label, maybe banana, that appears on the skin like a wet confession. It’s a perfume you don’t wear; it settles. It lets itself be felt like a brush against the nape of your neck. It’s floral, yes, but also voluptuous, sunny yet shadowed, neat yet hungry. I used it, fell in love, and put it away. When I returned, it wasn’t the same, or maybe it was me, ready to be inhabited by its quiet power. I know the creator understood seduction: that kind that doesn’t need to be loud to stay.

What an amazing perfume, I just got a bottle and what a lovely presentation for a commercial fragrance. They don’t declare the neroli and yet I perceive it, although the jasmine swallows almost all the other notes, although I also identify the Ylang-ylang. It’s really a well-crafted perfume, ideal for a daytime event, outdoors like a wedding, projecting cleanliness and power, so in reasonable amounts it can be worn in the office. I recommend waiting to buy it, and this is due to its price; perhaps as time passes since its launch, the prices could be more reasonable. I love it!!!! I suppose if something works, why risk it? Maybe it’s due to that fact that the master behind the house, if he didn’t dare with this flagship perfume of the Dior house, knew how to update it very well.

I heartbreak 💔 This is Red Door Intense. I had high expectations and it was a huge letdown. I thought it would live up to its name because if there’s one thing I love about Dior, it’s that it smells like gold. It might not be my favorite, but when it’s Dior, it should smell like Dior, and this time, even with that title, it didn’t deliver. My advice: before falling for the hype, try the original Red Door (which I love) and it has a much superior quality to this flanker of J’adore that had everything to be loved as gold, but wasn’t. The truth is, it’s far from smelling like gold. In J’adore L’Or, you only notice the price tag 👎🏼. Scent: intense clove and jasmine. Occasion: outings, but there are better options. Price: worth it, Dior smells low cost.

Kurkdjian, a scent genius. The packaging is gorgeous; the faceted gold cap bottle shines like its name: Love for Gold. Every detail is meticulously cared for. What a floral splendor! Orange blossom, jasmine, violets, rose, and that ylang-ylang they don’t always mention. First, white flowers with ylang-ylang; then, the orchestra is led by ripe, fruity, almost raspberry-like roses. All wrapped in a citrus honeycomb honey, sweet but balanced. Is it like J’adore Infinissime? No, it has its own stamp. Unique, distinguished, and elegant. If you like white flowers and red roses, this is what you’re looking for. Lasts over 8 hours without reapplication and is versatile for all seasons.

I just tried it today and was a bit disappointed, hoping it’s just the heat. The violet emerges when you spray it only to disappear, wanting to arrive but never quite getting there. The rest mixes without evolving, at least that seems to be the case. I’ll give it another shot when it cools down because I admire Kurkdjian’s work and am a fan of many of his perfumes. Moderate longevity that ends with an undefined scent on the skin. At a price close to niche, I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I didn’t perceive the lily of the valley either. As always, it might evolve differently on another skin.

Sky-high expectations with this fragrance, not just because I’m a fan of the line but because it’s Dior’s first commercial launch under Francis Kurkdjian’s helm, my third favorite perfumer for his MFK brand with excellent proposals. I know it hasn’t been released yet, but some notes seem missing; they declared it’s a more refined version of the Original and L’Or, featuring Ylang-Ylang and Violeta along with the usual white flowers (jasmine and neroli). Hope to hear new news soon; for now, it’s available on the Dior site since August 14th.

Honestly, I tested it in autumn on a cool day. It has a powerful opening, smelling like the original and the D’Eau. But I don’t know what’s going on; it doesn’t last. After two hours, it’s just on the skin, dominated by the violet, which I honestly can’t stand because it’s very synthetic. It disappointed me. Between the price, the quantity, the poor longevity, and that awful violet.

What a fantastic perfume and what great work by Francis Kurkdjian 💖 I miss the fruity dimension of J’adore, but we are facing one of the best accessible (not affordable) florals on the market. Just yesterday I got a couple of samples and here I am, thinking about the incredible projection of a single drop and whether I’ll buy it in February or March 😉

It’s incredible. I like it more than the original. It’s sweeter than floral and lasts quite a while (from morning to night) even close to the skin. It’s perfect for shared spaces because it’s not invasive or scandalous. One of my all-time favorites.

The classic worked for me but didn’t fully convince me; this smells like full-on jasmine and hits too hard, very sharp. I don’t like perfumes with so much jasmine, but if you do, this is yours. It’s not innovative, very classic.

The jasmine of Alien with the creaminess of the first Carolina Herrera perfume… my nose perceives it as a 2-in-1 layering of those two wonderful fragrances… a beauty for all lovers of the king of flowers.
