Descripción

Greenergy by Givenchy is a green floral fragrance for men. Launched in 2000, this composition was created by perfumers Ilias Ermenidis and Alberto Morillas. The top notes unfold with mint, basil, grapefruit, cardamom, orange, lemon, and tangerine; the heart reveals calendula, mimosa, pepper, and nutmeg; while the base notes settle on vetiver, styrax, and sandalwood.

  • I bought this when it was new here in Argentina. I went to my trusted perfumerie looking for another Xeryus Rouge, and the salesperson asked if I’d tried the new Givenchy one. When I hesitated, she let me test it, and it was a pleasant surprise. It opens with a fresh, citrusy burst of orange, grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine, cooled down by mint and a green basil note. Cardamomo kicks in after a few minutes, blending with other notes to create a delicious melon and banana vibe. Then comes a spicy floral phase with calendula as the star, along with cardamomo, nutmeg, pepper, and mimosa. In the dry down, that banana sensation lingers, with vetiver and a soft sandalwood emerging. I remember it as fresh, youthful, energetic, yet elegant. I loved wearing it and it brings back great memories; it worked like a charm on summer nights.

This was the first designer perfume I bought back in 2002 in Buenos Aires, and I carry it with affection. The opening was citrusy with a green and spicy base. In the dry down, Mimosa and Marigold stood out; that phase was my favorite, quite floral, perhaps more so than usual for a man of that era. I suppose it aimed to follow the line of the famous Insensé from the house, which I never tried but read was very floral and bold. Greenergy was my go-to in autumn. I wish it had lasted longer. I’d love to feel that intoxicating floral aura in the dry down again. What a shame it was discontinued; it was a masterpiece.

Greenergy by Givenchy. I wish I could relive this scent! It’s the kind of fragrance that leaves an imprint on your memory but never got the success it deserved, and now it’s discontinued. I went through the same thing with RL Polo Extreme or Tommy Athletics, both sadly out of catalog. It opens citrusy with basil, fresh, a bitter touch of grapefruit, and middle notes of cinnamon and pepper. Lasts about 6 hours with top-tier projection. A true gem. I’ve seen online sellers who have it but ask for nearly $200 for 50ml. If you find it cheap, let me know and I’ll buy it. Rating: 10/10
