Descripción

Friday Edition by El Ganso is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Sidonie Lancesseur. The top notes of anise, cardamom, and bergamot make the first impression; the heart reveals lavender, sage, and mint; while the base settles on tonka bean, sandalwood, and cashmere wood.

  • I stop by perfumeries every 2-3 days looking for new releases. EL GANSO… curious scents, I like all four, but Friday calls to me with that sweet smell. Cardamomo, bergamot, an aroma I thought was vanilla but was actually anise and tonka bean. I thought, being a clothing brand, the longevity would be ridiculous, barely perceptible after two hours. I’ve banned myself from impulse buys for months, divorced from spending a fortune. I applied Friday and left. Ten hours later, it was still on my skin and clothes. I showered and that sweet, woody, fresh, and spicy aroma lingered. I’m not saying they’re similar, but it brought back memories of the first time I tried Dolce Gabbana. The next day I repeated it, the day after that it was already part of my collection. I’m not divorcing myself from this yet; this addiction is uncontrollable. Recommend if you like fresh, spicy, and slightly sweet scents, especially if you’re tired of reformulations without a sillage. Great longevity, a surprise.

Value for money: very good, high quality. Excellent performance; I have skin that’s terrible for perfumes, but this lasts about 8 hours on me feeling quite strong. It’s sweet, but just enough. Quite pleasant, doesn’t offend anyone. I think I’ll use it day and night, in heat and cold. I give it a 10 for value.

  • Undoubtedly a very masculine perfume. A constant presence of cardamomo, combined with floral and woody notes that make it addictive, with just the right intensity so it’s not cloying. Very surprised, fantastic.

  • This is a disaster. I’m not saying it’s poorly made, but it’s the opposite of what I’m looking for. The opening with anise reminded me of Perry Ellis America, the worst thing I’ve ever smelled, with chemical trails like Cerebralín. Then it settles into a cloyingly sweet woody tone, which isn’t terrible but I just don’t like it. They talk about it being seductive… well, if they could guarantee seduction in other times, I’d think twice, but now, with no desire to suffer unnecessarily, no.

  • I’ve always liked this brand’s clothing. When I saw their perfume line, I tried them and was surprised. The Friday Edition particularly pleased me; a sweet aroma without being cloying, outstanding longevity, and that wonderful anise note similar to Lempicka Pour Homme. I see it as perfect for autumn and spring. Watch out for the trigger, it’s a beast mode.

  • I’ve always liked this brand’s clothing. When I saw their perfume line, I tried them out and was pleasantly surprised. The Friday Edition particularly stood out to me: a sweet scent that doesn’t get cloying, with exceptional longevity and that wonderful anise note reminiscent of Lempicka Pour Homme. I see it as perfect for autumn and spring. Just be careful with the trigger; this is a beast mode fragrance.

Checked out the reviews and went to try the Friday Edition; the moment I smelled it, I was hooked. It’s rich and sweet but perfectly balanced, fresh with a well-placed cardamomo and citrus undertones… I bought it without hesitation. The salesperson also told me about the new Limoncello by El Ganso, I tried two sprays and WOW: a juicy, sweet, and refreshing lemon scent, reminiscent of Dior Homme Cologne or Zara Vibrant Leather Summer, but with much better quality. I picked it up too. This brand is surprising me: I already own the Bravo Monsieur, a beast in terms of longevity and compliments; maybe these last a bit less, but for the price (125ml/28.95€), it’s an absolute steal.

  • This perfume, which retails for around €30, won’t offer you anything you can’t find in a Zara fragrance (neither in scent nor performance).

  • If you mixed La Nuit de L’Homme and The One into one bottle, you’d get this Friday Edition, but with steroids, haha. While the other two falter in projection and longevity, this one blows past them by miles. If you like La Nuit and The One, go for this one headfirst.

I bought this blindly because I was recommended it. It made a great impression, and for the price, I think it’s excellent. Not being an expert, I find it reminds me a bit of La Nuit de l’Homme but without that overpowering ‘clean’ scent. The trail is very good and the longevity is outstanding; I applied it at 7pm and could still smell it until 1pm the next day. I recommend it with my eyes closed.

  • I don’t like it. The sweetness feels repugnant to me, although I admit it has great longevity and projection.

  • Sweet from start to finish, with a slightly citrusy opening where cardamomo stands out. A few minutes in, tonka bean appears and stays until the end, giving it that characteristic sweetness; I also detect some vanilla, even though it’s not listed. Performance is decent: lasts about 7 hours with a moderate trail of up to 2 hours, then fades to skin scent. In short, it’s not bad, more youthful and suited for mild climates. I find nothing original or special. P.S.: If you like that heavy tonka bean touch, check out Mercadona’s Criterio Ego, which has the same or better performance for one-third the price. P.S.1: Its signature sibling, Bravo Monsieur, performs better and I prefer it, but that’s subjective.

  • Hello everyone… I own both The One and this Friday edition. They share nuances and remind me a lot of The One EDT. If you like it but are disappointed by the performance, this goose edition is the solution: a good scent for occasions and minimal casual wear, ideal for serious or strong personalities. Good trail and longevity over 6 hours. Great price if you buy it in Spain, highly recommended. Cardamomo is very noticeable from the start and throughout the dry down, accompanying the citrus, lavender, sage, and sandalwood notes. It took me several tries to like it, so don’t buy blindly. Cheers.

  • I was curious to try this Friday Edition after all the hype from reviewers. I tested it thoroughly, and sadly, it’s not for me. On my skin, it smells heavily of anise, reminding me of walking past a 20-kilogram sack of anise in a wholesale spice store. After a while, the anise fades (though it lingers a bit), and the lavender, tonka bean, and a light sandalwood emerge. I’m ruling out a purchase entirely based on this opening. That said, I completely understand those who say it’s a mix of The One and La Nuit de l’homme.

  • It smells sweet and slightly tipsy thanks to the anise and cardamom, with a relaxed and calm vibe. Perfect for a Friday, though it lacks the punch for a smoky, alcohol-filled pub; instead, it’s ideal for late afternoon or evening anywhere. In the middle, lavender adds freshness, closing with the sweetness of tonka bean. It’s marketed as unisex due to the sweet notes, but I think its sibling, Bravo Monsieur, has a better profile. Overall, it delivers, but I wouldn’t repurchase.

Wednesday Edition? It doesn’t smell bad; quite the opposite. It starts with a hit of cardamom and anise that gives you the spicy vibe, then blends in with lavender for a fresh touch, finally settling on a tonka bean base that creates a sweetness that’s nowhere near overwhelming or cloying. It sounds strange, but sometimes it reminds me of the banana bubblegum gum I used to chew as a kid, or what La Nuit de l’homme would taste like if it were bubblegum (probably due to the tonka bean and cardamom combo). I have to say, out of the three I own from this brand (Limoncello, Bravo Monsieur, and this one), Friday Edition is my least favorite. It’s not bad, and it has the ingredients to be a winner, but it’s missing something to make it a truly standout fragrance. Judging by my nose, I’ve realized the note giving it this passivity—or containing the potential for greatness—is the anise; I’ve smelled it separately and it’s what causes this effect, which also happens with 212 VIP Black. If we’re comparing, it feels like a blender mix of La Nuit de l’homme and The One with a dash of anise; very similar to both, which could sound like a hit, but that’s where I say it doesn’t make the leap to surpass them. When I wear it, I feel it’s boring; it doesn’t give me the Friday party vibe, but rather a Sunday feeling, where the hectic party days are over and you want to rest without losing that fun energy. It’s not one of my go-to choices, though I must admit I’ve smelled it on friends and prefer the scent when worn by someone else. Plus, like the others from El Ganso, the performance is excellent. Scent: 7.5/10 (can be bought blind; I doubt many won’t like it, though I don’t think everyone will love it). Longevity: 10/10 (lasts at least 8-9 hours on skin and lingers on clothes until washed). Sillage: 9.5/10 (you can feel it all the time; starts strong, then drops to about an arm’s length; it hasn’t stayed skin-close until after 7 hours). Occasion: Casual, parties, daily wear, any weather except extreme heat. God’s plan 🦉

Wednesday Edition? It doesn’t smell bad, quite the opposite. It starts with a hit of cardamomo and anise giving the spicy part, then blends with lavender for freshness and a tonka bean base with a sweetness that’s not overwhelming. It sounds strange, but sometimes it reminds me of the banana bubblegum gum from my childhood, or if La Nuit de l’Homme was made with bubblegum (probably due to the tonka bean and cardamomo combo). Of the three I have (Limoncello, Bravo Monsieur, and this one), Friday is my least favorite; it’s not bad, it has ingredients to succeed but it’s missing something. Judging by my nose, I think the anise is the culprit for that passivity; I’ve smelled it separately and it’s what causes it, just like with 212 VIP Black. When I wear it, I feel it’s boring; it doesn’t give the feeling of a Friday night party, more like a Sunday where the busy days have passed and you want to rest without losing that fun vibe. It’s not one of my favorites to choose, though I admit when I smell it on friends, I like it more on someone else. Just like with El Ganso, the performance is excellent. Scent: 7.5/10 (blind buy, I doubt many won’t like it, but I don’t think everyone will love it). Longevity: 10/10 (minimum 8-9h on skin and clothes until washed). Sillage: 9.5/10 (felt all the time, strong at first, then on one arm, not on the skin until after 7h). Occasion: Casual, parties, daily, any weather except extreme heat. God’s plan 🦉.

Of all the Goose scents, this is definitely the one with the best longevity. We’re talking an average 12-hour projection, and on clothes, it lasts an incredible and delicious three days.

  • I find it just as boring as the overhyped ‘Bravo Monsieur.’ Basically, it’s a slightly boozy tonka bean scent, though the sweetness is toned down by cardamom and lavender, with a bit of sandalwood that reminds me precisely of ‘Bravo Monsieur’ (which I really dislike). On top of that, I’d bet it causes headaches just like ‘Bravo Monsieur’ does.

  • The scent is very similar to Dolce & Gabbana The One. In my experience, it has better projection, though the longevity is shorter, lasting a maximum of 4 hours. I love this type of oriental fragrance; they’re very relaxing and easy to wear for any occasion since they’re not overpowering. On my skin, the cardamom, tonka bean, and mint stand out as a fresh note.

Commercial, versatile, and cheap. Not much more. If you were into the old batch of D&G The One, give this Friday Edition a try to see if you like it. For me, this is one of the best from all the Geese, alongside the summery and fresh Part Time Hero. I’m not buying into the damn hype of “Bravo Monsieur” (it’s pronounced “messié,” damn it, meaning “sir” in French), let alone the one they claim it’s inspired by, Le Labo’s Santal 33, the epitome of seasonal pious-nob hype and bluff. Le Labo should pay The Goose for the promo they did for a perfume that only three cats knew about worldwide. Another Goose scent I hate is Limoncello Season, simply because I hate the damn limoncello liquor, which is like a soft Italian schnapps, ultra-sweet, ultra-citrusy, and super-grandpa. I can’t say much about the feminine ones. Go to a perfumery and smell them. All in all, if Geese scents have any good thing going for them, it’s their versatility and price. At least in Spain, 30 euros for 125ml. Neither their aromatic originality, attractive design, nor great longevity and sillage make them seem like great purchase options. Someone said in this chat “damn boring scents.” And they’re right. I, who owns dozens of perfumes, get bored of them even when I’m at home. The Spanish clothing brand El Ganso was born a few years ago wanting to be a sort of mix between Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ben Sherman (in their clothing design, they went hard, watch out, especially at the beginning, with the cult nostalgic retro 60s Swinging London mod style) and ended up a bit in no man’s land, in a want-and-can’t, insubstantial, mediocre, and monotonous state. Same with their perfumery side. Let’s hope they figure it out in the future, find their own style, bet on bolder and more modern things, and at least in perfumery bring us interesting new fragrances. Come on, Geese.

  • Albertini79

Tried it today; it left me a bit puzzled. The opening features a strong cardamom accord, very anise-forward, with some citrus notes. A combination I don’t quite like. On my skin, it takes a bitter turn shortly after application. After drying down for a few minutes, it smells like the classic washed amber found in many modern fragrances. But it’s complicated, because it doesn’t seem to contain amber or ambroxane or anything similar. Must be my nose. In any case, it eventually evolves into a vanilla scent that retains its anise touch, along with some floral notes (lavender) and very deep wood. In my opinion, it denotes elegance, sensitivity, shrewdness, and a hint of vulnerability. I’ve noticed the evolution on paper versus on my skin is quite different. So, I wouldn’t risk buying it without testing it first. I don’t think I’ll buy it for that reason, and because the opening doesn’t convince me. Throughout the experience, it reminded me of something I’d smelled before; it’s not an innovative aroma (in the line of The Goose). In any case, I see it as a quite versatile fragrance for almost any occasion, with an elegant-casual touch. It’s not one of my most passionate favorites from The Goose.

  • Smells very similar to Dolce & Gabbana The One. It has great longevity, is elegant, and you can definitely detect the cardamom and anise. I recommend it for daily and formal wear. It’s seductive and masculine. Good value for money.

  • Synthetic, plastic, and brash. I tried it at El Corte Inglés, and within ten minutes, I was rushing to the restroom to wash my arm, feeling nauseous. One of the most unpleasant scents I’ve ever encountered. It’s bottled horror, suitable only for scaring people on Halloween or when you want everyone to stay away.

  • Currokontodo

The previous user is talking about another perfume because FE isn’t plastic or shrill; maybe it’s synthetic, but what else do they want for this price? Calling it synthetic is negative, but there are tastes for everything. In this perfume, you can smell the anise all the time; if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. It doesn’t kill me, but the blend of tonka bean, anise, and sandalwood is a logical move; notes that complement each other well and are clearly present, while the rest of the declared notes go unnoticed. But so what? That trinity is enough for a coherent, rounded, and very pleasant perfume. Fortunately, quite different from what’s out there despite being a cheapie. From my point of view, good value for money. It might lack a bit of projection, but it’s fine. Update: after using it much more, I eventually quit it. It’s not a bad scent, but it wore me out; I started feeling it was cloying and couldn’t wear it anymore. On clothes, it lasted days; I don’t know if it was because I sprayed it multiple times and built up more strength. So much that just opening the cap and smelling it, it stuck to my nose for half a day.

  • SebastianC2702

Be careful with this perfume: if you’re under 25 or 30, stay away; it smells quite mature. Seductive, yes, but if you’re young, you’ll smell like a dad. For dates and short distances, nothing for young girls. For 30 and up. Personally, for dates, I prefer Armani Code or Zara For Him 2022, which are in a similar price range.

  • Alexrojas2908

You don’t smell much mint, but overall it’s a fragrance that starts citrusy and ends warm and spicy, very rich, and lasts a long time.

  • I’ve given it a chance for several months and haven’t liked it at all. It’s a plastic, shrill, and insanely synthetic smell. It’s a cheaply made copy of Givenchy’s Pi. If you can get it for 25€ like I did, it’s worth it as an olfactory experience, but don’t even think about buying it for the 58€ they ask at The Goose.

  • diegomagadan

This is anise, anise, and more anise. If you don’t like that spice, forget it. If you like something sweet and anise-flavored, buy it without hesitation. Personally, I don’t love it because it doesn’t smell very masculine, but I like it quite a bit and I’ve gotten several compliments.

  • Soy_como_quiero ser

I tried it as a sample from The Goose while looking for three perfumes: Limoncello (rich and fresh, but without that lemon pie sensation, though the lemon is very well crafted); Bravo Monsieur (definitely not a blind buy, test it first, I don’t like the sandalwood); and finally Friday Edition… oh surprise! The first impression opening didn’t appeal to me; I felt it was aggressive and very spicy, perhaps due to the anise, but it doesn’t smell bad. The magic came with the dry-down: after 10 minutes, it evolved into something vanilla-sweet, not cloying, becoming warm, cozy, and seductive. It lasts a long time: over 6 hours on skin and still throwing off bursts from a distance with just one spray. The trail is a bit lower and lasts 4-5 hours. I agree it’s good, but it lacks being a compliment bomb; I note it as unisex, with a touch of iris that makes it tender. You’ll surely get compliments, but don’t expect women to be immediately attracted. A pleasant aroma, good price, nice bottle, and recommended for casual to smart casual. Perfect for coffee, walks, or family dinners. It doesn’t reach formal or office signature status. My rating: 7.5.

  • Fragranticman

I bought this blind for 25€ for 125ml, lured in by people saying it was a mix of ‘The One’ and ‘La Nuit de L’homme’. When I sprayed it, I thought I made a huge mistake: it has nothing to do with ‘The One’, and at first, I thought it was terrible because of that strong anise that lasts 30 minutes. But then it sweetens with tonka bean and becomes creamy with sandalwood. On my skin, I didn’t smell the cardamomo at first, but at 40 minutes, everything changes. As it dries, that creamy base with the present anise appealed to me, even though I was resistant at first. When the anise fades, you’re left with tonka bean, sandalwood, and cashmere, smelling like a luxury winter soap. If you like anise, you’ll love it; if not, wait a day before judging. It has complexity, evolves, and isn’t flat. Projection is intimate to moderate, perfect for cold climates or the office because it doesn’t bother anyone. Its name suggests a weekend, but I see it as ideal for a cold Monday at the office.

  • Yowza! It’s a difficult fern for the opening and heart. The anise is very dominant and overshadows the cardamomo and citrus. When the heart notes kick in, the anise is still noticeable, and you have to like it to appreciate it. As it dries, the woods and tonka bean are perceptible, but the cashmere takes the lead with its warmth. The dry-down lasts a long time and is excellent quality. Great as part of the Goose line. Tremendous for dinner with your partner or a date (I’m almost 50). I like it, but if you can’t handle such a sharp anise, don’t even try it. P.S.: La Nuit de l’homme is a better option if you don’t like anise, although they have nothing to do with each other; this one reminds me slightly of YSL.

  • From my perspective, it doesn’t resemble ‘The One’, especially the opening, which is one of the best I’ve ever smelled. As it dries down, with that cardamomo, it might remind you a bit of Nuit, but I think Friday is more versatile for everyday autumn wear. If you grab the 75+125 pack, you’re getting a signature scent. My skin isn’t great for perfumes, so I get about 1 hour of noticeable projection and 2-3 hours close to the skin. The anise isn’t dominant; it’s sweet without being overwhelming. Good price, though nothing crazy.

  • On Skin Parfums

I grabbed this on sale for 20€ for 125ml, and it’s an absolute steal. Forget any comparisons to ‘The One’—they have nothing in common except a few loose chords. It’s warm, spicy, and woody, very sexy, and smells incredible for the price. The projection is intimate, perfect for dates or going out at night without being annoying. What surprised me is that on my dry skin, it lasts 7 hours, which is super rare for an EDT these days. On clothes, it lasts until the next day. Totally recommended.
