I can assure you that French Kiss is one of the most feminine fragrances in my collection. It’s a delicate blend of raspberry, lychee, and rose/violet, a perfect combination where neither flower overpowers the other; they are in harmony. The base is pure Guerlain essence: powdery and vanilla-infused. It’s not as gourmand as they say, nor does it smell like lipstick, but it’s pretty! The only drawback is that, on my skin, the longevity and projection are poor, and at this price, it takes points off. French Kiss is just another luxury splurge.
This fragrance arrives with fresh, juicy lychee accompanied by a bouquet of violets, evoking the sweet memory of childhood raspberry candies you dare to bite until there’s nothing left. That sensation of juicy lychee, violets, and heliotrope on my skin lasts only two hours. To my surprise, after that time, the dry-down is identical to Hard Candy by Hard Candy; it feels like a bad joke. Unfortunately, Guerlain is letting me down; as an exclusive line, it smells just like a much cheaper perfume. Sillage: Moderate. Longevity: More than 6 hours.
I headed into French Kiss with high hopes, and it exceeded my expectations. It opens with slightly acidic fruits, with raspberry standing out over lychee. After two minutes, violet makes its presence felt with a powdery touch, then heliotrope blends perfectly with it, followed by vanilla. I only detect those notes: raspberry, violet, heliotrope, lychee, and vanilla. It’s the best fruity floral I know. Yes, it’s pricey, but the quality and majesty of its notes are worth every euro. Some perfumes sell on the name, others on the essence; French Kiss is pure quality. It’s elegant, feminine, vibrant, and not just another floral—it’s French Kiss. Moderate sillage and longevity.
Of all the Guerlains I didn’t expect to like, this is the one that caught me off guard. It opens with an incredibly rich tart raspberry and a sweet violet, perfectly balanced. Then heliotrope and iris root take over, blending with vanilla for that subtle, old lipstick vibe. It’s gorgeous, feminine, and perfect for spring. The only downside is it doesn’t last as long as its price suggests, but it’s worth every penny; I think this is Guerlain’s winning horse, and I’ll definitely be buying it again.
