  My coworker wears this fragrance on occasion. It’s an intense floral at first that then softens. It has an incredible trail that invades the office, but in a pleasant way, leaving a mark in its wake.

  If the original First were a gem, it would be an ancestral, heavy diamond dragging itself down my neck with its aldehydes. Verdict: I don’t dare; it scares me. But I’m sticking with this other gem: First Edition Blanche. You are a pearl with mother-of-pearl petals of jasmine and white roses. Filled with simplicity yet very refined, you rest on a bed of soft vanilla and are cradled in your shell; your heart of aldehydes waits to give me a heart attack and fibrillate creamy white petals that, in your death, will become almost eternal bouquets sprouting from every pore of my skin. A gem, a creamy pearl that, while it may look like others, is unique in its almost austere nakedness.
