First, the official notes are very basic. It starts with a bull attack: a sharp acetone note that lasts five minutes. Then it settles into a spiced, medicinal oud with a very subtle fruity touch. After that, the rose appears as if it were underwater: soft, powdery, and sweet, nothing powerful or feminine. In the end, the oud gains strength with woods and an ambered patchouli that gives it texture. It’s an aquatic Rose Oud, creamy and intimate. Only the first second didn’t please me, but the rest does, a lot. At 12€ for 100ml with about 10 hours of longevity, it’s a steal. Wearable all year round.
To start, the notes on the bottle are very rudimentary. Opening: rose, geranium, tagetes, hibiscus, blackcurrant, passion fruit, and spices. Heart: rose, saffron, cilantro, ginger, pepper, cardamom, cyperus, oud, patchouli, and marine notes. Base: amber, cedar, sandalwood, ebony, guaiac, patchouli, cedar, musk, and spices. The beginning is aggressive, like a bull in the ring, with an acetone note that passes in five minutes leaving a spiced, medicinal, and fruity oud. Then the rose comes out, wrapped in wood and water: pretty but contained, neither powerful nor delicate. The whole is soft, powdery, and sweet. Later, the rose fades and the oud dominates with woods and a bright patchouli that gives it body. It’s an aquatic Rose Oud, soft and creamy. Except for the first second, I liked it a lot. At 12€ for 100ml with 10 hours of longevity, it’s insane. Versatile, works for any season and time of day.
I bought it based on reviews and I’m very happy, unlike other blind buys that disappointed me. It’s an aquatic rose, similar to Estee Lauder’s Pleasures Men, but warmer and sweeter. The opening is a disaster of spices (saffron and other things) that are too strong and last about 30 seconds. Then the oud drops and the rose appears with aquatic and fruity notes that smell like melon: a soft, original sweetness. I love it for its freshness and price, a steal. Good sillage: 5-6 hours projecting and then another 5-6 hours close to the skin.
I bought it based on reviews and I’m very satisfied, unlike other blind buys that disappointed me. Its essence is an aquatic rose (if you’re looking for something similar, try Estee Lauder’s Pleasures Men), but this version is much warmer and sweeter. The opening is a bit strong with those spicy notes (saffron and another one) that last about 30 seconds before giving way to the oud and rose with fruity touches that remind me of melon, that soft sweetness we smell when eating it. I love it for being original and for its price, a steal. Good sillage, lasts about 5-6 hours projecting on my skin, then another few hours close to the skin.
Excelent Man is a bridge between East and West: it takes that rose and those medicinal woods typical of the Far East, but adds a sporty and ‘fresh’ touch that we here call ‘aquatic rose’. It’s a flower without opulence or heavy spices, more friendly and delicate, sometimes with that hint of caramel custard, all over a comfortable woody base where the oud shines. Ideal for dressing up an oriental vibe in summer without seeming too exotic, something very few people pull off. It has good, just-right projection and brutal longevity. It’s the perfect gateway to understanding perfume in a different way.
According to the brand’s website, it contains calendula, passion fruit, spices, saffron, cardamom, agar, sandalwood, amber, and musk, and I think it’s true because it smells more complex than the two notes I listed here. I say it’s not woody-spicy as claimed, but Aquatic-Floral-Woody, because even if they don’t say so, it smells like warm water with flowers and touches of sandalwood. Something curious: although it’s aquatic, it’s not fresh, but warm, like a lake warmed by the afternoon sun surrounded by flowers and sandalwood. Also, it works better with heat; in the cold it fades, but with heat it projects a lot. On me, it lasted about 8 hours, the first two with medium sillage and the other six close to the skin. Sometimes, after 12 hours, it seemed to ‘resurrect’ and release bursts of scent. The materials are mid-range quality, neither very cheap nor exclusive, nor generic. Is it good? Yes. Is it excellent as its name suggests? No. In summary, it’s aquatic, floral, slightly powdery, and woody, suitable for temperate or warm climates, semi-formal occasions, and for ages 25 and up.
According to the brand’s website, this fragrance features calendula, passion fruit, spices, saffron, cardamom, agarwood, sandalwood, amber, and musk, and I believe it’s accurate because it smells far more complex than the two notes listed on Fragrantica. What doesn’t fit is the family classification: they say woody-spicy, but given these notes, it should be aquatic-floral-woody. It smells like warm water with flowers and a hint of sandalwood, even though the brand doesn’t list aquatic notes. Interestingly, despite feeling aquatic, it’s not fresh but warm, like lake water in the afternoon surrounded by flowers and pieces of sandalwood. Another oddity: although it’s warm, it works better with heat; in the cold, it fades, but with warmth, it projects truly. On my skin, it lasted about 8 hours: the first two with moderate but very noticeable sillage, and the other six with low sillage. Additionally, after 12 hours, sometimes it seemed to ‘resurrect,’ releasing bursts of scent as if I’d just applied it. The materials are mid-range quality: not cheap, nor exclusive, and although it’s aquatic, it doesn’t smell generic; it stands out from the dozens of similar ones available today. Is it good? On its own, yes, excellent. Does it live up to its name? No. In summary: an aquatic-floral fragrance, slightly powdery and woody, for temperate or warm climates, semi-formal occasions, and for those over 25.
The opening is HORRIBLE; it smells like wet plastic when you take the cover off a pool in May, with a touch of penicillin. After five minutes, it disappears and mutates into astringent but pleasant green, like very sunny oak moss. Gradually, an aquatic note emerges—not sporty, but flowers and woods floating in water, aquatic but without calone. In the end, it leaves a floral-spiced or woody scent from the nineties, translucent and ethereal, with flashes of geranium, sandalwood, amber, cedar, and spicy notes. Excellent longevity for its volatile nature. Highly recommended for men who enjoy Halston 1-12 and floral, aromatic, spiced, masculine yet delicate fragrances.
The opening is the most ‘complicated’ part, though it doesn’t smell as bad as others say. It’s a saffron bomb at the start with a slightly dirty oud that softens quickly. Then the floral base comes out, along with that soft, spiced oud, highlighting the rose, which isn’t metallic or syrupy, but rather like rose water. Sometimes it smells like melon. In the end, the spices fade and you’re left with a soft rose water scent, very long-lasting. Lasts like a dream, noticeable for many hours. At first, it’s more masculine, then it becomes feminine. Works in any climate except extreme heat. I liked it, but it didn’t fall in love with me. It’s pleasant, lasts long, and isn’t expensive, but I wouldn’t buy it.

Finally, the spices fade, leaving a soft rose water scent that is very long-lasting. It performs like a luxury item, noticeable for many hours. At first, it’s more masculine, then it becomes feminine. It can be worn in any climate, though in extreme heat, you have to be careful. I liked it but it didn’t win me over. It’s pleasant, performs luxuriously, and isn’t expensive, but I wouldn’t buy it.
Run away!! Hahaha. What a terrible experience with this fragrance. It smells like mixing your great-grandmother’s cologne with your grandmother’s kitchen. I remember an 80s pharmacy lotion called ‘Floral Water’ used to soothe bumps, and it smells exactly the same. Definitely smells like the American Midwest and I would never wear it under any circumstances (unless I’m dead).
I followed the advice that the notes are different from what’s listed here, and you’re right; the perfume is wonderful for me. It’s like rose water with modern touches, but I used to love the old rose water. I used to buy it at a neighborhood herbalist shop in the mornings after shaving; I loved that clean rose scent, then I moved and couldn’t find it anymore. This perfume reminded me of it, plus it has much better performance than that old rose water. I understand why others might not like it because it reminds them of a pharmacy product. The best is to try it first, but since they’re rarely in stores, those who don’t like classic rose water should stay away. It also opens a bit chaotically and synthetically, but shortly after, the aquatic roses emerge and it’s a marvel (if you like them). Ideal for daytime and I think for any season.
I tried the advice about the notes and confirmed it’s different from the description. For me, it’s a masterpiece: smells like rose water with a modern twist. It brings back memories of when I was young and bought that rose water at the neighborhood herbalist to apply after shaving; I loved that clean, pure rose scent. I can’t find it anywhere else, but this perfume brought it back, plus with much better longevity. I understand some might dislike it because it reminds them of pharmacy products, but the best way is to try it. If you don’t like classic rose water, stay away. At first, it smells a bit chaotic and synthetic, but then the aquatic roses emerge and it becomes a masterpiece. Ideal for daytime and any season.
