Mancera Black to Black is identical to Montale Black Aoud, but with less sillage and longevity. If I may draw a parallel, MBB is the EDT version while MBA is the EDP. Since they belong to the same house, it makes sense. If you like Black Aoud but find its projection and longevity too much, here’s MBB for you; plus, I got it about 20€ cheaper than the MBA. I’m obsessed with Black Aoud, so this will be for warmer weather, leaving the Montale one for cold winters. Note: the liquid isn’t as dark as in the photo.
The opening hit me hard, very strong. My wife almost kicked me out of the house when I first put it on. Wish I had asked for a sample before buying.
Top notes of rose, oud, and leather. It opens with a brutal, almost medicinal rose over a leathery base. Lasts over 8 hours, becoming linear with an amber touch. This rose-oud combo triumphs more than you’d expect: it’s my wife’s favorite and draws many compliments. Very oriental, intense, and long-lasting; on skin it reaches 16 hours and on clothes it lasts for weeks. Only for cold winters, because two sprays can be overwhelming. Ideal for a serious, well-groomed guy who wants some mystery. Scent: 8, Longevity: 10, Sillage: 10, Value: 8 (often on sale and the bottle lasts a lifetime), Versatility: 5, Uniqueness: 5, Overall: 8. Do I own it? Yes.
