It alternates between delighting and disappointing: at first, it was pure magic—a dry-sweet blend with woody and floral notes that add a sexy, characterful touch, plus a gorgeous bottle. Elie Saab usually nails longevity and projection, but here it doesn’t last long enough; eventually, it smells like other dry sweets like Eclat or La Vie est Belle, without the staying power to justify the price. It settles into a ‘meh’ compared to its promises. I ended up keeping another from the brand and sold my Elixir E.S.
Elie Saab never misses. It’s a jewel worthy of more fame. I first tested it on blotter paper: balanced iris and mandarin, neither powdery nor fruity, serious and elegant. Over time, a dark, mysterious vanilla (undeclared) emerges with myrrh and resins. It reminds me of the dry-down of L’Interdit Rouge Ultime; owning both feels redundant, so when I finish my Givenchy bottle, I’ll go for the Elixir. Update: I’ve now tested it on skin. The opening is less impressive—very powdery and vintage, like Guerlain’s Insolence. But the dry-down is marvelous.
What an absolutely BO-NITO perfume! Full of neroli, obviously. Maybe that’s why it resembles My Way or Scandal, but they’re completely different. If I had to compare it, it’s to Scandal Absolu: same style but distinct; owning both isn’t redundant. It’s like that classmate who looks alike but is totally different. It’s fantastic, very evolving, and long-lasting—sweet without being cloying (unlike the Absolu, which is). Buy it!
Very elegant. I detect a beautiful velvet iris in the heart. I disagree with those who equate it to My Way or La Vie est Belle, because it’s not sweet at all. It’s a woody floral. It reminds me of Givenchy’s Irresistible.
It shares DNA: jasmine, orange blossom, gardenia, but with double the iris and no neroli. It includes dark chocolate. It’s a beauty, though from the same brand, I prefer Le Parfum Essentielle, White, or Lumiere. Elegance and good taste.
It has nothing to do with My Way or La Vie est Belle Iris Absolu; those smell like makeup, while this Elie Saab scent does not. It’s an iris and Ámberwood beast: sweet, ambered, talcum-powdered, and resinous. It’s a friendly talcum scent, not old-fashioned makeup; it’s incredibly elegant. If you like this profile, you’ll love it. It lasts forever.
Proof that it will become a classic and widely loved masterpiece. It doesn’t resemble My Way in the slightest; honestly, I’d rather own My Way… I can’t stop thinking about it since I tested it, just like the first time I tried Coco Mademoiselle. When I get it (hopefully soon), it will be one of my most detailed reviews. Oh my god, if you can, go get it NOW!
Pleasant, quite so, but very similar to Armani’s My Way Parfum and Lancôme’s Iris Absolu. Owning all three would be redundant unless you’re a total geek for this olfactive profile and don’t mind owning multiple versions. I’ll give it a second try to see how it performs on skin.
