Oh my, what a vintage find! Guerlain Eau is a treasure I didn’t know existed. It opens with lemon, bergamot, mint, and basil; while it has 17 notes, these are the ones that shine. It’s an eau de toilette to kickstart the day, yet lasts over 7 hours with a powerful trail. I found a 1998 batch that smells so fresh and cozy. Plus, it’s unisex. Launched in 1974 for use in the heat. A delight!

Even though Guerlain is on the label, it’s a baby cologne—vulgar and run-of-the-mill. Only at the end, as it dries down, does it perhaps remind you of Guerlinade, but what a shame for over 100 euros. I’m a Guerlain fan, but this is a rip-off.
EAU DE GUERLAIN, an overlooked masterpiece. Beneath the guise of a simple soap lies a multifaceted fragrance. TIMELESS STAGE: Citrus and embracing. It opens with a pristine lemon that turns sweet with an amber floral note, like a spring mist. 50-YEAR STAGE: Mysterious Cyprus. It evolves into labdanum, moss, neroli, and caraway, paired with carnal flowers like jasmine and rose. Sophistication and mystery, in the style of Dior’s New Look or Balenciaga. 10-YEAR STAGE: Soapy dressing room. As it dries, it smells like a classic barbershop and a neo-romantic dressing room. Lavender, iris, rose, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, and amber. The most delicate Guerlinade. Low sillage but acceptable longevity. Goes with everything, especially on sunny days. Elegance and distinction that travel through time.
I totally agree with La Dame de Noir; I don’t understand why this is hidden among other fragrances. It reminds me of those squashed 70s scents like Eau de Rochas or Lancaster, but with the Guerlain stamp. The opening is vigorous and super citrusy (I’m talking about the 90s vintage). The fruity notes are weak, and soon the carnation and rose emerge with lavender, basil, bergamot, and mint. The sandalwood confirms it’s Guerlain, and sometimes I think of Vol de Nuit. It follows citrus, neroli, and woods with oakmoss. It outshines the Acqua Allegoria line. According to other forums, it has been reformulated, so I recommend the vintage and buying blind. It has the house’s DNA; it’s not a simple cologne, it’s timeless and versatile. 10/10.
