The reformulated Diorella has left me speechless. I expected floral but instead found an almost fougère chypre, very masculine and old-school. The opening is harsh, bitter, and wild—nothing like today’s sweet perfumes. It reminds me of Youth Dew and the original Opium. Notes of bergamot, green lemon, wild honeysuckle, and lots of moss. It doesn’t smell like flowers or fruit, but rather a liberated woman from the seventies, in a leather jacket listening to rock. The dry down is dark, moody, and built on leather and vetiver. It’s a difficult scent for current trends, perfect for those addicted to dry fragrances. Dior did a miracle by keeping it alive.

If Le Parfum de Therese is Roudniska’s best fruity chypre, Diorella is its best floral chypre (classic version). A bright, green, and citrusy opening with juicy melon. In the heart, the honeysuckle reigns like a giant light, accompanied by cyclamen, jasmine, carnation, and rose, all with peach and that mossy base that gives it radiance. The dry-down features sublime oakmoss, vetiver like smoke, and earthy patchouli. Everything works perfectly together—voluptuous, elegant, and sophisticated. Roudniska truly does magic with chypres. Rating: 9.1.

Diorella is a gem trapped in time. I stumbled upon it yesterday at a store with insane prices, and when I tried the original, unretouched version, I was blown away. I held the bottle up to a lady and told her it smelled musty, but she looked at me like I was crazy because it was actually fascinating me. The owner confirmed it’s a miracle—brutally original, woody, and even rotten for moss lovers. What a difference from what they sell today; it’s a work of art that sadly died with the times.

Diorella is my favorite among green notes: complex, well-crafted, and original thanks to the melon and basil. The moss and vetiver give it character, while the peach blends so seamlessly with the citrus that you can’t tell which one is leading. The honeysuckle is there, but playing it cool. It’s a masterpiece, the feminine counterpart to Eau Sauvage, with a sweetness and originality that make it truly unique.

Diorella Cancion: Eloise / Barry Ryan. One of Roudniska’s masterpieces, simple and direct. It’s basically Eau Sauvage with a floral and fruity touch at the start that makes it feminine (or unisex, in my opinion). The Roudniska perfumes from that era share a similar structure. Dior reformulated it recently, but I’ve only tested the vintage. Highly recommended.

I tried the new formulation and absolutely hated it. Even though I adore Dior, these new versions just don’t work for me. On my skin, it smells very masculine; the vetiver clings like a barnacle, and you can’t detect the patchouli or the fruits at all. The vetiver has completely taken over.
