I dream of owning this fragrance in EDP someday. It’s fresh yet strong and sophisticated, perfect for both day and evening. Simply a treasure.
I love it for its freshness and originality; I just hope it hasn’t been reformulated like so many perfumes these days. It’s a delicious herbal scent, slightly sweet, not overpowering but long-lasting. I can’t wait to try it again and see if there are any changes to the aroma.
It’s such a well-crafted perfume… it’s one of those that offers loved ones naturalness without being overly sweet, truly made to order. It lacks excessive voluptuousness yet possesses a personality that will last forever. From the start, it can become a chosen, individual fragrance. I’ve never been able to smell another scent that could match it as a substitute. Truly, I recommend it to those who enjoy floral notes without going overboard but want enough longevity. Its name gives the clue: Cristalle… clean and transparent… revealing a whole world of sensations. For years, it has been one of my go-to perfumes. This time, I can say that even at a high price, you can find what you’re looking for, as long as you’re not seeking sweet or vanilla scents. I’ll add: to this day, it still smells the same, but the enviable intensity it once had is gone; now, its longevity is far from what’s needed to make it a flagship fragrance for a house with such a prestigious name.
Cristalle is the perfect example of a chypre. Its scent leans heavily into green notes, with unmistakable moss and vetiver taking the lead. There’s also a crisp, cool green aroma reminiscent of a conifer forest, with strong pine undertones. It’s a clean, aquatic fragrance, yet strangely feels like winter to me—it evokes a cold forest, tundra scents, an almost frozen dampness, and the morning frost on trees. It’s the smell of natural winter: cold, damp woods. To my taste, it’s very elegant, calling to mind cold, distant people shaped by experience but with good hearts, much like its woody notes. It deserves to be worn for something truly special, like a winter gala night in a long, imposing gown. I can’t imagine anyone under 25 wearing it; it’s an ode to experience. It has incredible longevity, lasting well over 24 hours. It deserves a permanent spot in a museum because it’s one of the planet Earth’s greatest scents.
A relative gifted me this perfume when I was 20. Before, I tried the EDT and found it very strong and serious, not seeing it as appropriate, but I used it anyway. Recently, I ran into it again at El Corte Inglés and fell in love; now I’m in a position to truly appreciate it. It’s green, cool, and a bit aldehydic to me. The longevity is brutal, very elegant. Although it doesn’t match current trends… the bottle came with me, and I’m waiting for winter to enjoy it again. Ironically, the sales associate gifted me a sample of Gabrielle… it’s like buying a box of Godiva chocolates and getting a jar of Nutella as a gift.
Finally, my hands on Cristalle EDP, that natural green freshness and elegance I was looking for without even knowing it. It’s luxury worn with total naturalness, no pretensions, enjoying nature just as it is: radiant sun or splendid rain. The opening is sharp but non-irritating citrus, softening with moss and vetiver; the fruits add just a delicate touch of sweetness. The result is as clean and crystal-clear as a stream, with sophistication that makes it suitable for any moment. Although different, it reminds me in style of Estée Lauder’s Private Collection for that mix of naturalness and class. I won’t be able to do without it anymore. EDIT: In summer on skin, it gets too sweet, and the fruits (like peach) dominate, losing that crystal freshness I adore in other seasons. I like it more on paper. I’ll have to try it on clothes.
Finally, I have Cristalle EDP, which is the exact balance of fresh green elegance I’ve always sought, even without realizing it. It’s elegance cubed—the kind people accustomed to luxury wear naturally, without trying too hard, just enjoying nature. If the sun comes out, they enjoy that light; if it rains, the scent of rain accompanies them. It starts with a sharp citrus that doesn’t sting, softening with moss and vetiver. I barely notice the fruits, except for a delicate, soft sweetness. The overall effect is as fresh, clean, and crystal clear as a stream. Despite being natural and woody, it has sophistication for any moment. Although they aren’t similar, it reminds me of Estée Lauder’s Private Collection for that blend of naturalness and sophistication. I won’t be able to do without it anymore. EDIT: On my skin, it changes if worn in summer, where it sweetens too much. The fruits I barely noticed in January, like peach, I’ve almost over-appreciated in summer; what I love is that crystal-clear, fresh presence of other times. On paper, it stays as I like it. I’ll have to test how it changes on clothes.
A fresh green for mild and hot temperatures. I have a sales associate friend who always gifts me samples, and we politely debate which smells better. We agree on one thing: the perfume world has changed; now fragrances are softer, perhaps due to fixatives adapted to stricter regulations. Cristalle follows the seventies’ trail, but here the notes don’t clump together; there’s evolution. On my skin, it shifts from a comfortable fresh citrus to a vetiver green, ending in a pleasant jasmine surrounded by oakmoss. I don’t perceive the fruits, maybe because my nose is used to current fruity perfumes. I smell jasmine with woody green notes. It’s elegant, with good longevity and acceptable sillage. Great for work or a gin tonic on a summer terrace. I don’t see it for night; it lacks sensuality. Suitable for all ages, totally unisex these days. Fresh with the softness of a forest breeze after a storm. A rich perfume, a masterful chypre.
Fresh green, ideal for mild and hot days. I get along well with a perfumer in my city; she always gives me samples, and we chat pleasantly about what smells good or bad. We agree on one thing: the perfume world has changed. Now they are softer than before because fixatives have adapted to strict regulations. Cristalle follows the 70s trail, but here the notes don’t clump; there’s evolution. On my skin, it goes from a comfortable fresh citrus to a vetiver green, ending in a pleasant jasmine surrounded by oak moss. Honestly, I don’t notice the fruits, perhaps because my nose is used to current fruity scents. I smell jasmine and woody green notes instead. It’s elegant, with good fixation and an acceptable trail; it’s great for work or going out for cubatas or gin tonics on a summer terrace. I don’t see it for night; it lacks sensuality. Suitable for all ages, totally unisex nowadays, and fresh with the softness of a forest breeze after a summer storm. Rich perfume. A masterful chypre.
I was looking for a green, herbal scent and, reading reviews, bought Silences blind. It wasn’t what I wanted; I was searching for something more feminine and juicy. That’s exactly what I find in Cristalle EDP. Do you know Arcimboldo’s paintings? Well, Silences would be winter, and I was unknowingly looking for summer. This is Cristalle EDP for me. It starts herbal and mossy, a bit dry, then quickly softens into a juicy, liquefied melon. It adds sweetness but never loses its fresh (not refreshing) and clean vibe. The melon makes all the difference; the EDT feels too unisex and Eau Verte too acidic. It gathers everything I craved: a clear, feminine, even sensual aroma. The longevity is surprising—I smell it on my pulse and neck for 7-8 hours. The sillage is noticeable but not annoying. For me, it suits any season, though the melon sweetness might feel heavy in extreme heat. To summarize: 12 points for me, 2 for Jacques Polge. Cristalle EDP completely won me over. I can’t stop smelling my pulse or neck.
This is the perfume I’ve been loyal to for years. I don’t wear it daily and sometimes go through seasons without the urge, but when I see it running low, I feel a genuine panic because I know I can’t live without it. It’s wonderful, discreet, and works for any occasion, even in the heat (though Eau Verte edges it out slightly).
Beautiful perfume, mossy and fruity, blending elegance with spontaneous, youthful freshness. Very wearable and versatile. The trail and longevity are top-notch: I can still smell it after 8 hours. While not Chanel’s most famous scent, I always get compliments whenever I wear it. It works wonderfully in the heat, boosting the trail without distorting. I don’t consider it just a summer scent; in autumn, spring, or rainy days, it smells like a lush green forest all year round. The only downside is the melon note, which might be too sweet for those who aren’t fans of gourmand scents, but for lovers of sweet notes, it’s a plus. Excellent creation.
A beautiful mossy and fruity perfume that combines elegance with spontaneous, youthful freshness. Sillage and longevity are very good; I can still smell it after 8 hours. Although it’s not Chanel’s most mass-produced, it always garners compliments. It works great in the heat because it boosts the sillage without distorting. It’s not just for summer; in autumn or rainy days, a green forest can be enjoyed all year. The only downside is the melon, which might be too sweet for some, but a plus for gourmand lovers.
My great love; I can’t live without it. It’s the definition of ‘class’ to me. Some might not notice it enough, but it lasts wonderfully for me with a proper sillage. It’s my summer perfume for outdoor dinners or chill-out sessions by the beach with a breeze. I don’t know anything that resembles it, maybe the ‘Y’ from Saint Laurent, but this one is more delicate. A true gem.
My great love; I can’t live without it. It’s the definition of ‘class’ for me. I’ve heard some don’t find it projecting enough, but in my case, it has excellent longevity and a very correct trail. It’s my go-to summer perfume: nights at outdoor restaurants, at the beach, or chilling with the sea breeze. I don’t know any scent that compares; maybe Saint Laurent’s ‘Y’, but that one is much greener and heavier. Cristal EdP is more delicate. A true gem ❤❤❤
I took years to restock it, and honestly, it’s excellent. Feminine, refined, enveloping, and subtle. Ideal for spring due to its freshness without losing the Maison’s elegance. I think it underwent a slight reformulation, which is a huge success, because it’s marvelous.
I tried it on recommendation and it was a pleasant surprise. The tangerine floods the senses before moving to jasmine and ylang-ylang, a brief phase lasting about 3 hours. The incredible part is the mossy and vetiver base, which lasts nearly 12 hours. Fresh, elegant, rough, and impactful, I think it’s appropriate for any occasion: work, family, or festive.
Seven notes telling a story of enchanted realms. An opening of dark, almost black verdancy, with intense moss and astringent vetiver reminiscent of galbanum, giving a bitter tone to the tangerine. The melon is surprising, sublimating a velvety jasmine over wet peat. It’s not transparency or order; it’s a wild forest revealing beauty. A dazzling interpretation of the mossy chypre.
With just seven notes, Jacques Polge has spun a tale of enchanted realms. The opening is an impossibly dark verdancy—visually, it would be an almost black green, like a thick, wild forest so dense it barely lets light through. It’s an intense mossiness amplified by an astringent, piercing vetiver that at first I mistook for galbanum, giving the mandarin and the whole composition a pleasant bitter edge. In the heart, the melon is both disorienting and majestic. Polge has made me love a note I used to hate, much like discovering how spinach can be exquisite in the hands of a three-star chef. The melon elevates a jasmine that should be on the podium of the greatest ever created. But what a jasmine, my goodness… fruity, velvety, robust, and blooming over wet, earthy peat, like a hidden princess in a forest fleeing Maleficent. Cristalle, despite its name, is neither transparency nor order; it’s a maelstrom of brambles and vines that eventually reveal a sleeping beauty after being shattered by a sword strike. It’s fascination and rapture. What a dazzling interpretation of a mossy chypre. And what a wonderful storyteller you are, Monsieur Polge. At your feet, always.
My go-to perfume; I always wear it for special events and everyday. It’s a spectacular chypre, absolutely fresh. I love that oakmoss finish; it gives me vitality and compliments. Original and different, perfect for any season, though ideal for spring and summer at dusk. Like breathing fresh grass in a green field.
It starts with a sparkling champagne and Chanel aldehydes. As it dries down, moss and an astringent green peach take over. It lasts about 8 hours with projection that fades to skin-level. Ideal for moss lovers, a quality unisex scent for mild days or summer. Its dry freshness cools the heat. Even though I’m not a fan of aldehydes, it’s excellent and worth trying.
Cristalle smells like my childhood: stepping into my mother’s closet, applying a few drops, and smelling my fingers. Fresh, earthy, clean, and beautiful, perfect for dreaming. Unfortunately, I can’t find it anymore; it’s discontinued. Does anyone recommend something that evokes this scent? My favorite is the Eau Verte.
Cristalle is a forest morning with dew, pines, and sun rays touching your face. Fresh, sharp, luminous, and crystal clear. Juicy citrus notes of lime and tangerine, green melon, and flowers like jasmine and white roses over wet vetiver. Classic art, moderate sillage, and great longevity. What a shame it’s discontinued.
I imagine two worlds: a forest after the rain and a French palace garden. It blends earth, sweet florals, and that luxurious powdery touch. On a dry, almost-spring day, it feels more floral and delicate, adapting perfectly to the weather. Exquisite in any setting.
