Coach for Men by Coach

To start, I think it’s a quite pleasant perfume. It opens citrusy/fruity and, when it dries down, introduces a note in the style of coumarin (tonka bean) and an ambroxan/ambergris base. I especially like the scent after the first 5-15 minutes, where the fruity notes settle, with a very synthetic but I think decently achieved and pleasant pear, along with the sharper and more astringent citrus. In this case, to my delight, the roasted tonka is very controlled. It’s like a potpourri of all the perfumes of this style we already know. There’s a hint of Sauvage, of Chanel Allure Homme Sport, of YSL Y Parfum, and I could go on and on. The difference is that here the perfume is like being in the middle of all of them. That is, it’s not very sweet, not too citrusy, and the ambergris doesn’t stand out above the rest of the notes, etc. It seems fairly well balanced. The performance is like all of these (I don’t include Sauvage): weak and discreet, although it lasts a few hours, especially on clothes. The trail it has is none. Like almost all perfumes of its ‘millennial’ time, it’s soft, discreet, and rather bland. That is, for ‘machos’, but with plucked eyebrows and where chest hair is scarce. Note, understand this as a metaphor. It will please the female sex (generalizing), since it barely smells and they can wear it perfectly, since, like almost all these modern things, despite the poetry they want to sell us and many swallow like lapdogs, it’s totally androgynous. In other words, metaphorically: don’t put too much spice on it, because the choni teenager, normally with big breasts, who Jeremy features in his videos, might not like it. It hasn’t displeased me, in fact, I liked it, but I see it as quite bland, with little character, and weak performance. It’s like having ‘one more’. But I insist, it smells quite good and as other colleagues comment, I see it as versatile.

I use it for work: easy and nice scent. Smells synthetic but it’s addictive. Effervescent fruity opening. When it dries down, compared to other fragrances, it’s a middle ground between Legend and Legend Red, meaning a Legend that’s a bit fruitier. Usable as long as there’s no extreme cold or heat. Better for day than night; if at night, only for very casual situations. Coach for Men’s longevity is low: 4 or 5 hours, and I struggle to find it close to the skin. It doesn’t have great projection, but I must say I really like its trail during those hours: every time I move, lift my arms, or walk, I feel it very present, a weak but subtle presence; at 4 hours, when I can’t smell it on my skin, it seems to activate with movement. Very ideal for the office. People will smell you, they’ll know it’s you, and you won’t bother or invade anyone. Don’t miss out on giving it a chance just because of its low performance: decant/perfume in the backpack, reapply mid-day, and that’s it. Not everything has to be beast mode. EDIT 2025: it’s not that big of a deal… still a solid 6/10, good perfume.

When I tried it for the first time, it seemed very synthetic. I kept testing it, and it smells good, similar to other blue fragrances, but I felt it lasted very little; I didn’t feel its trail for more than half an hour, and it didn’t last more than four hours: total disappointment. Later, I sold it to a friend in autumn without knowing that cool weather would be its strong suit. My friend put it on and couldn’t believe that the same perfume was projecting such a strong trail, so I sprayed a bit of this fragrance; we went out, and it turns out it now projects and lasts decently longer than I was used to. After three hours, it was still projecting, and in the morning, I felt a subtle scent I couldn’t believe. So far, he still uses it and always gets compliments from girls; I wouldn’t buy it again, though, there are better ones, but given the price, it’s worth it. I think it depends a lot on the type of skin of the person using it. It’s good, gets compliments, and projects, which is the main thing.

Coach for Men is versatile and perfect for daily wear, but I wouldn’t call it a ‘blue’ fragrance; it fits better in the ‘gray’ category. Think Dior Sauvage, Jimmy Choo Man, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon, Creed Aventus, Zara Vibrant Leather, or Montblanc Starwalker. It opens with a fresh, fruity vibe, highlighting blood orange and pear over a clean lavender base. As it settles, sweeter, floral, and woody notes emerge. In the dry-down, suede and ambergris really shine through. It’s rich and masculine without being aggressive. Even though it’s sweet, it’s not cloying; instead, it creates an effervescent freshness and a clean impression. Ideal for casual use and moderate temperatures. The dry-down is very similar to Jimmy Choo Man, but Coach has a more citrusy opening. While neither stands out for longevity, Coach performs better in terms of projection and lasting power on my skin.

It’s a ‘blue’ fragrance for daily wear, ideal for office workers, though it fits almost any occasion. It has a pleasant fruity sweetness with soft but present sillage and projection. Its longevity hovers around 6 to 7 hours. It works great in spring. At first, the kumquat orange stands out, followed by a sweet pear; it does remind me of Ultra Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, but it’s a lighter, fresher version, compatible enough to wear on the same day. In the heart notes, there’s some lavender that blends quickly into the dry down, which has an ambroxan, musky, and clean touch. You can feel the influence of Sauvage, but it’s much kinder. As for value, it’s an excellent option. Maybe it won’t be everyone’s favorite, but it’s one that always looks good.

At first, it feels like a collection of classics from past decades (I’m thinking Azzaro Onyx): soft, amber, and elegant. I’m drawn to its soft yet spicy quality, moderately spicy and fruity. Longevity is decent, lasting about 6-7 hours before fading. Overall, it’s a fresh and spicy cologne for today’s era: bold yet introspective, compassionate but independent. I detect notes of ambergris and pear, which I really like. I’ve read it’s similar to Ultra-male by JPG, but I don’t think so. The coriander note gives it that spicy kick in the background. It’s multi-seasonal, youthful, and casual, and with the right outfit, it doesn’t disappoint; it will definitely steal some sighs.

Horrible fragrance. I don’t know what’s going on because I can’t smell it; if it weren’t for buying it at my trusted perfumer, I’d doubt its authenticity. It’s somewhat citrusy, but I had to reapply it three times in three hours with 10 sprays just to catch a faint trail. The only thing I noticed was a terrible ambroxan. It’s a super generic scent, smells like aftershave, and it feels like a rip-off that they’re selling it in retail stores for $90 like it’s nothing. Please go for the Y by Yves Saint Laurent if you want something delicious. I’ll leave this for the gym or sell it because I truly didn’t like it at all.

A perfume for daily use, that classic ‘blue’ scent that smells good without bothering coworkers. People will like it or not, but it has an incredible projection right when you step out before fading to about 6 hours. Smells very much like lavender, and for me, it can be a good substitute for Dior’s Sauvage EDT, which is now ridiculously expensive—more costly than olive oil. They don’t smell the same, but they serve similar functions; while Dior is better, Coach works for everything. The downside of these perfumes is that they’re not a 10 in anything, but they let you wear them every day without worry.

I loved it, it’s fresh, sexy, masculine, versatile… they say it’s similar to other fragrances, but I haven’t confirmed it yet. It has that pear sweetness, bergamot, grapefruit, sour orange… its touch of amber and flowers gives me a woody sensation, wow, it’s very good for my nose and skin. A rich tickle when it dries down. Haven’t used it on clothes yet, will check how it changes. Scent: 8.5, price: 8, longevity: 8.

I started with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised by the smell. It’s an aquatic floral masculine opening, very rich in the first hour before turning fully aquatic, reminding me of Bvlgari Aqva. It does its job, is versatile, but I recommend using it in summer or warm climates. Lasts the normal amount for its price. In summary: Scent 8/10, Presentation 10/10, Longevity 8/10, Sillage 7/10.

Excellent fragrance, though it depends on the batch you get. Early batches lasted 8 hours, but lately I’ve tried some that don’t even reach 5. Worth having in your collection to alternate on casual days with your other scents. It should be cheaper now than when it launched; just make sure the batch is close to the creation year and you’ll enjoy it a lot.

It’s an easy scent to like, but it doesn’t last at all. I put it on and get maybe 30 minutes of projection max. Don’t buy it for the price; I’d rather buy a bunch of Axe that last way longer. Recommendation: don’t waste your money on this perfume; it lasts nothing. For the $40 I paid, there are much better and longer-lasting alternatives.

I bought this during a trip to the USA. I don’t find much resemblance to the Choo version (only vaguely in the opening), but it is identical to Jafra’s J-Sport… fresh, woody, and spicy right away. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like a good buy for the price; in my opinion, J-Sport projects better and lasts longer.

It’s very much in the spirit of the original Cool Water, but brighter and more energizing. I didn’t dislike it at all—in fact, I didn’t, even though I’m not a huge fan of aquatic scents. A good option for summer, though we’ll have to see how it holds up in cooler temperatures or air-conditioned spaces.

It’s a fragrance that delivers; you smell clean because it literally smells like some fabric softeners or detergents (just with a slightly more complex aroma). People will like smelling like this, even if it’s a bit generic. In my case, I like that fruity tone that characterizes it.
