Descripción

Christian Lacroix Absynthe by Avon is an aromatic fragrance for women. Launched in 2009, this olfactory composition was created by Laurent Le Guernec. The top notes of absinthe, anise, and freesia deliver a vibrant first impression; the heart reveals saffron, narcissus, hyssop, and orchid; while the base settles on woody notes, myrrh, ebony wood, and amber.

I’m going to treat what little I have left like liquid gold. It smells and feels like a woman with power, presence, authority, and pure personality. It’s sad to know I won’t have any more; I’m completely fascinated. I bought it blind based on the star anise notes and the photos, because I believe the image is what communicates first (the bottle is gorgeous, a divine green). I expected something greener and lighter, but instead I found a different scent: not heavy or painful, but with a sharp personality. Yes, this perfume has personality. When applied, it intoxicates with smoky, green aromas and a touch of sweetness to make it feminine. I feel dark and attractive in it. The longevity is good; I see it as a winter perfume, where the cold accentuates its character. I recommend it for girls who want to play with their dark side and renew their mystery. P.S.: It’s a classic for a reason, with an intriguing absinthe scent, very woody with its own sweetness.

It’s sad to know I won’t have any more. I’m fascinated. It was a blind buy based on it having star anise and the photos; I think the image is the first message. The bottle is beautiful and a divine green. I expected something greener and lighter, but I found something heavier, which induces more headaches due to its sharp personality than intensity. Mysterious and exotic. Distant and forgotten lands suddenly make you feel with your whole body a sweetness you desire to smell, eat, and see. This scent is quite rare, but I like it.

Mysterious and exotic. It evokes distant and forgotten lands that suddenly you feel with your whole body: sweet things you want to smell, eat, and see. This scent is quite rare, but I like it.

  • This perfume confuses me. I like it but at the same time find it strange. I would buy it but I’m not sure if I’d wear it.

  • This perfume confuses me. I like it, yet I find it strange. I would buy it, but I’m not sure if I would wear it.

  • Two things happened with this perfume: I bought it in 2010 and didn’t like it; the absinthe was killing me, intoxicating, and it didn’t work on my skin or clothes. I left the bottle in a drawer for almost a year (2014) and gave it to a friend who enjoys strong perfumes. When she wore it, I noticed the absinthe wasn’t as present. This summer I found a new package in the drawer; I opened it and the absinthe felt moderate, timely but not overwhelming. Now the wood, myrrh, and subtle floral notes are noticeable. I’m saving it for autumn-winter to see if it transforms again.

  • Something curious happened to me: I bought it in 2010 and the absinthe intoxicated me, it didn’t work on my skin or clothes. I left it forgotten. A year ago I gifted it to a friend who loves potent perfumes; I noticed the absinthe wasn’t as present. This summer I found a new package: the absinthe is moderate, timely but not overwhelming. Now the woods, myrrh, and subtle floral notes stand out. I’ll save it for fall and winter to see if it transforms again.

  • With all the praise, I remembered how much I loved using it. Maybe I’ll return to it, since I have half a bottle left and I haven’t used it in years…

  • It’s very peculiar and I love it. It has an eccentric personality, for special occasions. It steps out of the ordinary, strong and different. It seduces mysteriously, as LoveJuicy said: to make the angel come out and listen to the devil for a while. Why not have a few shots of absinthe and seek out the green fairy? It’s a shame it’s discontinued, it’s a jewel. I’m not a fan of rare perfumes for fashion’s sake, but this one captivated me. I give it an 8. If anyone has it and doesn’t want it, I’m here.

This perfume brings back memories of my adolescence reading about absinthe and its artistic muses. I saw the ad and thought: I need it. Today I don’t discriminate notes as well, but I remember that impactful, bitter, and imposing opening (now I know it was the woods), which gradually becomes courteous and sweet thanks to the absinthe and flowers. The beautiful bottle completed my enchantment, both for the concept and the scent. I will truly miss it.

This fragrance brings back very good memories. When I was a teenager, I read about absinthe for the first time, its preparation, and above all, how that drink was both muse and demon to artists and influential people I admire. Seeing the advertising and the concept, I said: I need it. I admit that today I don’t have the same sensitivity to discern notes clearly, but I remember how that opening surprised me: almost bitter, imposing, and powerful (today I understand it was thanks to the woods). Gradually, it shows its more courteous side, returning sweetness, thanks to the absinthe and the floral blend that makes it up. Along with a gorgeous bottle, I loved it both in concept and scent. I will really miss it.

  • Perfúmate with JL recommended it, and I was hooked by that absinthe note that had already captivated me in a perfumery course. The opening is liquorish, with anise and sweet absinthe that made me fall in love, though it passes quickly. Then something floral and green emerges, herbal and delicate, without that strong grassy hit. As it dries, it sweetens, becoming more woody. On me, it has a soft sillage and lasts 4-5 hours; to project more, you need to apply generously. Maybe the bottle’s age or my skin, which favors intense fragrances, is working against it. Scent 6.5, longevity 4.5. I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • I stumbled upon this thanks to a friend who opened my eyes to Christian Lacroix Absynthe. A forgotten Avon jewel now due to its discontinuation. It smells glorious, as rare as a green fairy but gloriously so. It comes out alcoholic, strong, and bitter like a drink, but soon tames itself, revealing woods and resins almost palpable. I don’t notice the ebony I love so much, but the yellow floral base brings joy. Lasts about 6 hours on my skin, an olfactory delight. Ideal for fall and winter, less so for summer. Unisex with a feminine leaning. An unjustly forgotten jewel that surprises.

  • Bought this discontinued treasure for my sister, no box but in perfect condition. The price was a steal compared to ML. Upon opening, a bitter freshness that lasts an instant before yielding to woods, myrrh, and amber with floral notes. It’s an exquisite originality I’d never tried; though it smells different from the samples when I was an Avon rep, time and oxygen have softened that initial stinging punch I couldn’t handle before.
