Moschino has always seemed irreverent to me. The Cheap and Chic line debuted in 1995 with a funny bottle inspired by Olivia, Popeye’s wife. It was a wonderful perfume followed by many flankers—some irrelevant, others more popular like I Love Love Cheap and Chic, a summer marvel very similar to Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue. This ‘Chic Petals’ flanker is one of my favorites: another summer delight where pomegranate stands out over petals, giving a juicy, red, fresh note from the start, accompanied by wild strawberry that accentuates its fruity character (I even thought I smelled lychee at one point), but the water lily adds that aquatic floral scent so the fruits never feel sweet or heavy, striking that perfect fresh balance for daytime and summer or spring wear. As it develops, delicate floral notes (gardenia and orchids) emerge with ginger and musk, making the composition sparkling, finished with Italian iris and cypress that give it a clean, fresh air. These fresh fragrances lack longevity, tending to disappear quickly in excessive heat, but if applied generously or on clothes, you can extend their duration.

It was a great perfume, though later they released several derivatives—some irrelevant, others popular like I Love Love, which was a wonderful summer scent very similar to Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue. This ‘Chic Petals’ is one of my favorites: another delicious summer fragrance where pomegranate takes the lead—juicy, red, and fresh from the start, paired with wild strawberry that gives it more fruity character than floral (at one point I thought it had lychee), but the water lily adds that aquatic floral touch. The fruits aren’t cloying or heavy; they have that perfect, just-right balance for daytime or summer. As time passes, delicate floral notes like gardenia and orchid emerge, along with ginger and musk that make it sparkle, finishing with Italian iris and cypress for a clean vibe. The downside is it doesn’t last long in the heat, but if you apply generously or on clothes, it lasts longer.

As others mentioned, the ginger overpowers it; it doesn’t blend with the rest. Right after applying, it smells like a fairly standard floral/fruity scent, but the ginger note stands apart, not mixed in… it’s strange because it doesn’t smell like fresh ginger, but rather like stale ginger cookies, and that odor dominates for the first few minutes. Luckily, later on, the floral notes remain and you can catch a hint of the classic Cheap & Chic.

The bottle and packaging perfectly match the scent: cheerful, relaxed, fun, flirtatious, feminine, and spring-like. It’s fruitier than floral, dominated by strawberries and pomegranate, though the floral notes keep it from being too sweet or cloying; it feels fresh all the time. It finishes with a fine, exquisite woody note. Moderate sillage, lasting 6 to 8 hours. Ideal for informal spring and summer wear.

As others said, the ginger ruins it; it doesn’t blend well. Right after you spray it, it smells like standard floral/fruity with the ginger scent separate, not mixed… it’s weird because it doesn’t smell like fresh ginger, but like stale canned ginger cookies, and that smell dominates at first. Luckily, it fades, and then you can smell something of the classic Cheap and Chic.

What a lovely perfume! I was gifted a miniature and I like that it’s floral, delicate, and sweet. I love applying it after a shower at night; it gives me that touch of tranquility and freshness. It is true it’s meant for spring and summer. Its trail is moderate, and I wear it at night, but by the next day it’s already faint on my skin.

In the 90s, I wore Clinique’s Happy and didn’t care for its aquatic note much. When I smelled this perfume, it reminded me of that scent, but softer and more pleasant. It’s wearable, ideal for daytime, fresh, and perfect for work since its sillage is short and it doesn’t last long on my skin—but that’s normal for me.

Fresh, floral, and aquatic. Of the flankers, this seems like the best—the least synthetic, most feminine, and perfect for summer. It smells like wild strawberry, pomegranate, and water lily. It’s not cloying; it’s very feminine and refined. The classic Cheap feels overwhelming to me, but this one is totally wearable.

What a beautiful fragrance, I loved it. It’s a mix of fruity notes with a soft floral touch, and I, who was so scared by the name ‘petals’, feel the bottle fits the scent perfectly—it conveys softness and tenderness. I love this for summer in the city where it gets so hot. It’s fresh, clean, floral, citrusy, with a barely noticeable fruity touch. I bought it at duty free without much interest and ended up loving it; people always ask what I’m wearing. It smells very natural and lasts about 6 to 8 hours on my skin.

I bought it for summer because of its fruity notes and fresh aroma. I think it’s pretty and fun, with that typical Moschino vibe, but I wouldn’t buy it again. On my skin, it lasts very little and is super soft, disappearing quickly. I do love the bottle—it’s gorgeous—but it just didn’t convince me.

I must be strange, but I’ve tested this fragrance several times at different places and I’m the only one who doesn’t pick up any fruity notes. I tested it following reviews that called it a sparkling scent, but to me, it just smells (with all due respect) stale or old. Quite disappointed.

I’ve adored this for years, but they stopped producing it here in Argentina, so I can’t find it anymore. At first, it smells like pomegranate and strawberry—super fruity and delicious—then the musk base kicks in. Everyone raved about it!
