There’s something about the blend that makes the fragrance ‘fall’ with grace, leaving a veil of nostalgia. It’s exquisite; I’ve tried it in candles and perfume, both are gorgeous. The trail is above average, which fascinates me. I think Biblioteque honors its name: the sweetness of peach and plum isn’t overpowering because the leather adds the scent of an old book that every bookworm needs. One of my favorite Byredos. 9/10

I bought it expecting to be surrounded by the scent of old books, but the expectation wasn’t met. It doesn’t smell like almond or vanilla as the aged paper might suggest, perhaps hidden by the fruity top notes. But poetry not being fulfilled doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I find it complex, unique, very personal and distinctive, clearly a winter scent. I won’t be repurchasing, but I’ll enjoy it while I have it.
I bought it expecting the scent of old books, but the expectation wasn’t met. It has no almond or vanilla, perhaps hidden by the fruity notes. But just because the poetry doesn’t come true doesn’t mean I don’t like it. It seems complex, unique, personal, and distinctly winter. I wouldn’t buy it again, but while it lasts, I’ll enjoy it.
Byredo is one of those brands that lets imagination and marketing guide it more than logic: this doesn’t smell like a library, but that doesn’t take away its good qualities. It opens very fruity, stepping out with the sweetness and acidity of plum, before a soft suede takes over. It’s very similar to Bottega Veneta Eau Velours and Rogue by Rihanna, but it’s fruitier than the first, less creamy than the second, and unlike both, the mentholated touch accompanying the suede is less strong and only appears at the end, giving it, in my opinion, more refinement and better execution. Moderate trail at first, which becomes skin-scent after an hour. Lasts about 8 hours on skin. Like its dupes, I consider it a feminine unisex due to its fruity touch. I see it as a perfume for cold days and mainly semi-formal occasions. It makes me think of a woman in a suit, not especially pretty but good-looking, walking through life with a slightly severe smile. Pleasant: 8/10 Interesting: 8/10 Versatile: 6/10 Original: 6/10 PS: If you like this perfume, I recommend trying Musc Noir by Narciso Rodriguez.
Byredo has a naming team guided by imagination and marketing, not by literal accuracy: this doesn’t smell like a library, but it has good qualities. It opens very fruity with the sweetness and acidity of plum, then gains strength with a soft suede. It resembles Bottega Veneta Eau Velours and Rogue by Rihanna, but it’s fruitier, less creamy, and has a minty touch in the suede that’s less intense and only at the end, giving it more refinement and better execution. Sillage is moderate at first, then skin scent. It lasts about 8 hours. I see it as unisex-feminine due to the fruity touch. It’s for cold days and semi-formal occasions. It makes me think of a well-dressed woman with a good look and a half-serious smile. Pleasant: 8/10, Interesting: 8/10, Versatile: 6/10, Original: 6/10. This perfume doesn’t smell like a library, books, or anything similar, but it smells good. I feel it leans feminine, somewhat like Gypsy Water, but with more plum aroma and better performance. The plum note is very synthetic and makes the fragrance degrade; it smells like it costs $90 USD or less. The price is exorbitant considering its aroma isn’t very special and it doesn’t have much projection. I can’t find an occasion to wear it… What I did like was the longevity; it lasts 7 hours on my skin and smells quite crisp. After 6 hours, the leather note finally emerges and it starts to smell a bit like books and even wine. At this point, the fragrance smells intoxicating and delicious… but you have to wait too long.

I can’t find a reason to wear it except for longevity: it lasts 7 hours on skin and smells crisp. In short, it smells very much like leather with plum. It’s not for me.
It’s a comfortable and pleasant scent. If used in moderation, it’s an aroma that no one dislikes.
Plum, violet, and soft suede. Unisex, but ideal for women who fear leather. I agree the name is a disaster; it doesn’t remind anyone of a library. However, upon trying it, I thought: ‘I wish my house smelled like this.’ I bought the candle instead of the perfume. On skin, I don’t dislike it, but it doesn’t quite enchant me.
It’s a ‘familiar’ rarity: strange and without clones, but made of known scents like play-doh and cake, similar to Eyes Closed. The plum with the leather creates an olfactory baby. It doesn’t smell like books; it’s a concept that takes you to a reading corner with red tea and plum cake. The plum is very present and smells like crafts, almost like my preschool class in the nineties. It’s comfortable, but when it dries, the leather gets serious. I’m not sure if I can see myself wearing it, but it’s curious and funny. It’s a real beast on my skin; it lasted over three days after washing.
It’s a ‘familiar’ rarity. What do I mean? It’s strange, and you won’t find many clones or similarities at first glance, but at the same time, it’s a set of known scents: play-doh and cake, a style it shares with its companion Eyes Closed. The plum with the leather, with their crazy chemistry, gives birth to baby Bibliothèque. No, it doesn’t smell like paper, books, or wood; it’s a concept, and that concept takes you to a reading corner, a large window overlooking a gray and white sky, a cold morning outside and a mysterious warmth inside. Beside you, a cup of red tea resting on a porcelain saucer with a plum cake. That’s it. Plum is a note I don’t really love, but here it’s bearable and sets the stage for that crafty start, play-doh on a table already stained with children’s waxes. I almost smell more of my kindergarten class from the nineties. That’s fine; it’s very interesting; it has a comfortable point thanks to the base notes, and at the end, as it dries down, the leather becomes a bit tight and offers that serious imprint that takes you away from play-doh and waxes. I don’t know if I see myself wearing it, although I’d like to be ‘that person’ for whom it fits like a glove. It has its charm and is certainly curious, though not for everyone. I see it on people with gravitas and serenity, for full winter use. I’ll add that it’s a true beast mode, especially on my skin; it lasted more than three days even after washing it.
It’s a clean, flat, fruity score with a synthetic atmosphere of cleanliness and light, almost like blank sheets of paper. It smells like the synthesis of peach with skin, treated and deodorized nubuck leather. In short, it’s a constant, synthetic aroma evoking laboratory purity and fruitiness. It will appeal to those who enjoy Hypnose, She by Armani, Gucci Rush, or Zadig & Voltaire: blends of hygiene, purity, and softened fruitiness.
Ladies, this one is for you (it’s much more feminine than masculine). I bought a niche fragrance and got some decants as a gift; this was love at first sight. Even though I’m a man, I absolutely adore it: it’s sweet, intoxicating, and delicate. As someone mentioned below, it doesn’t smell like paper or wood; it’s a concept that transports you to a reading nook with a large window, gray skies, a cold morning, and mysterious warmth. It’s interesting, breaks the mold, and is addictive and sexy on a woman.
I spent hours in libraries and swear nothing smells quite like this. The name is a bit much, but the scent is genuinely pleasant: clean, fruity, sweet, and floral. However, it’s one-dimensional and fades quickly, so it’s not worth the price. It won’t change your life, but no one will tell you you don’t smell good.
