This fragrance smells like a ballerina’s makeup powder and a lot like eyeliner; it evokes the girls of the Moulin Rouge. It’s very intense—better for winter, autumn, or night, when dressed up for an event. I don’t see it for the office every day; it’s too overpowering. If you’re looking for a perfume that smells like eyeliner, this is the best. I’m just waiting to get the one that smells like lipstick, like Iris by Frédéric Malle.
It really smells good; it has a hint of Dior’s Dolce Vita, surely due to the plum. It’s fruity and woody; it would be in my collection if it weren’t so subtle. If you like powdery scents with flashes of wet woods, this is all yours. Orange and cinnamon are prominent without being the main characters. It’s a pity it’s not more potent, because I’ve really liked it. Versatility: 10. Projection: 6. Longevity: about 4 or 5 hours. Beautiful perfume.
This is my second bottle; very special. It smells very sexual, like a courtesan from a high-class brothel in the 19th century. The first time, it evoked lust or fetishism. As its name suggests, it smells like the cabaret artist backstage, with her makeup and feathers. It’s a powdery iris with musk where the plum really sings. It’s well-blended, giving off the scent of old makeup. I don’t see it as versatile or suitable for every occasion; it’s for special events. It lingers for many hours; the environment picks it up, and people turn to smell it. Projects about a meter and a half for the first three hours, then stays intimate. You’re smelling it all day. It’s the delight of my collection, and I don’t like it when I’m out of it.
Sometimes reviews seem to read the fragrance pyramid, but this perfume doesn’t follow that script. It’s not easy to identify individual notes. At first, it smells like absinthe liqueur—very woody and unisex, reminiscent of Dior Homme Parfum—then it loses interest and evolves into something more anise-like, sweetened by that damn plum and animalic due to a prominent skin note. It’s fuzzy skin, like a suffragette fur coat from the 50s. It recalls old lipstick, more complex and challenging than Margiela’s Lipstick on Leather. It’s dirty, decadent, and more feminine than unisex. I imagine a dusty, old-wood stage with worn-out curtains. There’s decay, vice, and a soft plum ruining the moment. Not for daily use; it would wear me out. Brutal performance for the first hour, then it becomes intimate but still perceptible. Lasts over 8 hours on my skin. Recommended for lovers of the ‘vintage vanity’ style who want something less virginal.
Powdery rose with iris and a slightly woody patchouli; nothing harsh. A touch of plum adds sweetness, and as it dries, a subtle suede emerges. It’s not versatile—it smells like old lipstick. I don’t dislike it, but I wouldn’t buy it.
