It’s a copy of Cool Water, more accessible and with lower longevity. It doesn’t smell identical, but has a lot of similarity; acceptable for daily use.
A fresh and sporty fragrance, a pleasant aroma for day and afternoon, citrusy and woody with very soft floral notes. I see it for informal use, for working out; it’s not intrusive, it makes you feel clean, not cloying for others. Masculine for its price, it’s great: $10 to $15, 6 to 10 sprays, ideal for going to the gym or spending an afternoon outdoors.
A somewhat fresh fragrance, not too much, with very marked green notes and a very woody air. The notes that stand out most are the green ones, a bit of citrus, and everything related to the forest: balsam fir, oak moss, cedar, without forgetting the musk and a touch of jasmine. I disagree with those who said it’s a copy of Cool Water; in reality, they only share the green notes. Besides, Cool Water focuses on the aquatic and fresh aspect, while this one is only “a little” fresh and very woody, something the other doesn’t have. I used to wear it since high school, but I think it also suits older people, up to 45 years old, in short, it’s for all tastes and ages. For temperate climates, neither very cold nor very hot. I could say it’s like Tsar or Quorum, but lighter and fresher, less dense. In summary, it’s a cheap fragrance but with good performance, medium trail and good longevity, at least 6 to 8 hours, that was back in my 90s, I don’t know if reformulation has changed anything.
Upon smelling it, I imagine myself in a damp forest, with that scent of trees freshly wet by rain; it feels like pure freshness and youth.
It gives Davidoff’s Cool Water 50,000 turns, follows that same line, but it’s pure summer.
Although it reminds a bit of Cool Water, as already mentioned, the only thing they have in common are those green notes. Coty’s Aspen is much greener and woodier, with a fresh touch but not over the top. Imagine a forest crossed by a gentle autumn breeze. It’s a top-tier fragrance at a price you can’t beat. Yes, it’s very green, but that freshness makes it ideal for any twenty-something. Perfect for a laid-back look with a jacket and jeans, and especially great for that transition period between fall and winter.
Aspen For Men by Coty… well, what can I say? It’s great for heading to the gym, running, or doing physical activities. That’s why I use it as a phenomenal aftershave. You can’t ask for more from this fragrance.
What a pleasant fragrance! This scent calms you and transports you; it’s fresh and clean, ideal for Sundays after a shower to enjoy at home, or, being a cologne, for the gym. Ridiculously cheap price: 9 euros. Scent 9/10, Projection 6/10, Longevity 5/10, Price 10/10.
I received this fragrance today as a gift for a cousin in the US, who was very interested in reviews highlighting its similarity to Davidoff’s Cool Water. It arrived in a gift box with two 50ml EDT bottles. I wondered how much it cost, but she generously told me it was a gift; it was a Christmas present, and I gave one to my brother. The opening is very intense upon spraying, but it drops off drastically within minutes. It feels fresh, clean, and pleasant—those harmless ones perfect for everyday wear. There’s an obvious resemblance to Cool Water, but it’s more synthetic, with volatile and ephemeral projection, staying close to the skin. I don’t find that cucumber note from Cool Water that I found irritating yet intriguing at the time. A downside is that it smells like soap, deodorant, and detergent, making it generic. Despite everything, I give it a positive rating. It’s reliable, timeless, smells good, and is pleasant without being overwhelming. For its modest price, you can’t expect more longevity. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 5/10, Projection: 5/10, Versatility: 8/10, Price: 9/10.

I asked how much it cost, but she, being generous, told me she was gifting it to me. Better said, it was a Christmas gift and I gave a bottle to my brother. It has an obvious resemblance to Cool Water, but it’s more synthetic, with very volatile and ephemeral projection, staying only close to the skin. I don’t find in Aspen that cucumber note from Cool Water, which I found annoying but intriguing. An aspect that works against it, as well said, is that it smells a lot like soaps, deodorants, splashes, and detergents, which makes it somewhat generic. Despite everything, I give it a positive rating. It’s a fulfilling fragrance, timeless, smells good, and, without impressing, is pleasant to any nose. For its modest price, you can’t expect more longevity or trail. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 5/10, Projection: 5/10, Versatility: 8/10, Price: 9/10.
After reading the previous review, I confirm it was definitely reformulated, and a lot. I knew and wore this extensively in the mid-90s, just like Cool Water; back then, they had nothing to do with each other, sharing only a slight freshness, with Cool Water being much fresher. Its trail was medium throughout its life, and could be high with over-application. Although it’s always been affordable, it never felt as synthetic as people mention today. To keep it brief, you can see my other review below.
I have to say, I didn’t dislike this fragrance, nor did I love it—it’s a neutral take. It starts with a strong, fresh, even pleasant hit, but then shifts into a spicy phase that made me think of pepper. Checking the notes, there’s no pepper, so it must be the cilantro, which dominates after the initial freshness. I bought it for the price and because I needed a gift that I’m sure she’ll like. By the way, the dry down reminded me of Carolina Herrera for Men due to its spiciness.
A disappointing fragrance that lasts only a few minutes on the skin before becoming almost imperceptible. From the first spray, you feel the freshness of coriander, lemon, and green notes along with a lot of alcohol. Even though it’s cheap, it’s not worth it because it lacks quality in its ingredients and development, plus it’s outdated.
I see negative reviews about this perfume, which to me is a bit silly, obviously it’s almost identical to Cool Water. I see it as ideal for those just entering the world of perfumery or who want to feel fresh. Upon application, the first thing you notice is lime, moss, and cedar; it smells like being surrounded by pines in a forest, fresh, cool, and pleasant in the morning. As it dries, the notes lighten up and aren’t as heavy. I recommend it for working out, running errands, or walking in nature. It’s not a romantic or flashy perfume; it’s for feeling clean and good. Price: 10, Longevity: 6 hours, Sillage: low-medium. Overall, I give it an 8 for being versatile and suitable for daily use, perfect for not spending on expensive perfumes.
I think they reformulated it, but it’s still pleasant, even if it doesn’t last long. It was my first fragrance, and I remember receiving my first compliment wearing it when I was young. It quickly transports you to a wooded area; it’s a green scent, and as its name suggests, ASPEN, I feel like I’m in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado surrounded by trees and fresh weather. For the price, it’s a purchase I can’t regret, even if it only lasts a couple of hours.
Exquisite aroma, but with poor projection and longevity. Being aquatic and woody, it pairs perfectly with Cool Water or the classic Paco Rabanne. It would be a win if they made a more potent version, even if it cost a bit more.
This fragrance was a classic for my dad, an absolute fanatic of fresh, woody, and aromatic scents. But after Aspen for Men underwent reformulation, he threw it away because he felt the longevity and sillage had collapsed below average. In the end, what can you expect from a common woods scent selling for 300 pesos that’s lightyears away from its prime?
I discovered it a couple of years ago, so I don’t know how it was back in ’89. I bought it blindly because of its resemblance to Cool Water. The opening is incredibly good; they are quite similar, though this one is greener (without being heavy, maintaining a fresh and clean aroma). Despite not being high quality or having the best ingredients, it recreates the image of a damp autumn forest, which impressed me. The performance is low, but as an EDC it sits well on my skin. The trail and projection are short: potent for the first 20-30 minutes, then skin scent, but it doesn’t matter. At this price, reapplying doesn’t hurt (the 118ml bottle costs less than €10). In short, a recommended purchase if you like Cool Water or the fresh, clean green scents of the 90s. Cheers.
I’ve been using it since I was a teenager, back around ’89-’90. Like most, it’s been reformulated. I’ve read it’s a clone of Cool Water, which is totally false. They might share some notes, but they are very distinct. Aspen is a proper fougère, super green and fresh. Personally, I like it more than Cool Water. It doesn’t have the performance of old times, but for the price, it’s correct and a very good value cologne.
In my opinion, superior to Cool Water. Maybe less longevity, but thankfully less mainstream. A 10ml bottle in my pocket was my signature scent at 18.
My girlfriend bought this gem a couple of years ago, and it’s a delight. Refreshing and pleasant, I wear it on spring and summer nights; it reminds me of the warm days of 2020. Effervescent, green, refreshing, and very subtle. It’s worth it.
Fresh, classic, and very budget-friendly. There’s nothing bad to say about it; it’s one of those ‘3 B’s’: beautiful, brilliant, and cheap. Similar to Cool Water, but without the tobacco note that I love so much in the original. This Coty Aspen is highly recommended.
A fragrance I’d recommend blindly based on its price. It’s fresh and autumnal, transporting you to a damp, cool forest in the morning. While somewhat similar to Cool Water, it defines itself and ends up being different. If you’re into fresh scents, I recommend it.
A perfect example that cheap doesn’t have to mean bad. It’s one of my favorites, ridiculously affordable, and worth more than its price tag. Fresh, minty, breezy, aquatic; it smells more like the sea than the mountains. It resembles Davidoff’s Cool Water, but the longevity is like wearing a designer scent.
I thought it was discontinued; I used it back in 1992-1993. I remember it was a great perfume; I was working as a DJ at a nightclub and got several compliments. A girl asked if I was wearing CK’s Eternity, but it has nothing in common with it; it smells amazing. If I see it again, I’ll buy it without hesitation.
Looking for niche scents can lead to disappointments, just like with mass-market ones. But this cologne is a masterpiece. It might last about 6 hours, but man, it projects fearlessly. On a sweltering hot day, wear it and you won’t regret it. At work, I’ve received more compliments with this than anything else. Honestly, I prefer it to Davidoff’s Cool Water (which is spectacular, but takes a different path). The moral: cheap isn’t always bad, and expensive isn’t always good.
You can search for niche fragrances and end up disappointed, or look for designer scents and also get let down. But this cologne is a marvel. Maybe it doesn’t last more than 6 hours, but man, you can replicate it without fear. For times of scorching heat, pair it with this and you won’t regret it. At my job, I’ve received more compliments with this than with any other. Sincerely, I prefer it to Davidoff’s Cool Water (although it’s spectacular too, just by different paths). Moral of the story: cheap doesn’t mean bad, and expensive doesn’t mean good.
It’s like a Cool Water but fresher; simply an extraordinary fragrance.
Uhhhhhhju! What a beast, highly recommended fragrance! If your taste leans towards Cool Water, it has a captivating citrus opening, a bergamot that gives it a delicious balance, I think pacifying, and juniper and wood notes that blow your mind. Despite being from 1989, honestly, it’s one of those scents that never goes out of style. Casual, clean scent with a touch of cautious elegance. 100% recommended.
Undervalued masterpiece. A hidden gem in the world of perfumery that serves when you don’t know what to wear, for daily use or after a shower. The price is incredible. It has good projection but poor longevity, but nothing that reapplication can’t solve; it’s cheap, so it doesn’t hurt. It reminds me a lot of Green Irish Tweed, but Creed’s version wins by far in ingredient quality and gets people sighing. Scent: 9/10, fresh vintage that stands out from current trends. Longevity: 6/10, scarce (1h 30m) but reapplicable without issue or extra cost. Projection: 8/10, totally noticeable. Price: 11/10, not even a 10; the 100ml bottle cost me 200 pesos ($10). Personal opinion: a vintage perfume totally worth it.
Extremely masculine fragrance at a ridiculous price. Although it’s categorized as old school, I think it’s timeless. Easy to wear and addictive.
Let me tell you something interesting: when I first bought it, I was disappointed by its longevity and projection. I applied it generously (10-15 sprays) and within 3 months, I reduced the bottle to 50%… But ohhhh boy!… ohhhh surprise! A year later, when I took it out of the closet, oxidation gave it superpowers. Now it lasts quite a bit (7 hours on skin and 24 on clothes) and you notice it when someone approaches. Occasionally, it releases bursts that remind you it’s there. Yesterday, before meeting my girlfriend, I used my usual 10 sprays. I rode my bike for 90 minutes, and when I arrived, she noticed it instantly, it stuck to her neck, and she couldn’t stop sighing. Those of us in this world know that the wind erases scent from skin, but despite the bike ride, it accompanied me until night. Just a real testimonial proving that the most expensive isn’t always the best. It’s informal, for outdoors, wild, clean forest scent, fresh, for daytime, not for night, easy to use, and with a price you can’t believe: $15-20 USD.
The best purchase I’ve made in a long time. Timeless, practically self-contained, fulfilling, simple, innocuous in aroma but offering very notable pragmatic masculinity. Outside trends and classic at the same time. Three words?… cold green mountain.
Very good. I thought it would be a typical old-fashioned, dated perfume, but not at all. I was surprised: it smells very fresh, like walking through a forest after rain. Definitely 10/10. And let’s not talk about the price; it’s a steal ✌🏽
It’s a rich aroma. More people older than me use it; I’ve smelled it intently for over 30 years and only recently bought it. Coincidentally, I use Little Tree (Black Ice) in my car, and when my carpet got wet, I used a Meguiar’s Odor Eliminator with Black Chrome fragrance. This perfume smells exactly like that: Black Ice pine and Meguiar’s Black Chrome. I imagine it was a bomb in its time; now it smells like a car, rich and delicious.
Exquisite fragrance. At first, it’s green and fresh, then it gets slightly sweet. As it dries down, it sounded familiar: I had it next to my other perfumes and didn’t realize… it was the same ANIMALE for Men!
Delicious! The first spray takes you to a cold, dense pine forest right after rain. The only downside is the longevity: it lasts a breath. But for the price, you can reapply without pain. It’s a timeless classic that keeps asking for compliments.
Spicy Woods for Men is an aromatic, woody, and green fragrance. It opens with fresh citrus notes of lavender, geranium, pine, juniper, and moss, transporting you into a damp conifer forest. Perfect for all seasons and any occasion, whether formal or casual. It smells like 80s classics like Green Irish Tweed or Cool Water, but cheaper with decent quality. Everyone likes it, especially older men. Lasts 5-6 hours on skin with a subtle trail.
