Allure isn’t bad, but I first tried Allure Sensuelle, which changed everything, so my review might be biased :P. Allure is rich in ingredients, of excellent quality (Chanel before their reforms), and floral, but at its core it’s a soft oriental. It’s not heavy on the florals nor very strong on the oriental side; it’s delicate but present. The rose and peach stand out as a single note, along with vetiver, orange blossom, and bergamot (all three are distinct but none dominates). That’s Chanel’s quality: the ingredients feel like a whole. In the end, the vanilla sweetness isn’t heavy or cupcake-like. The trail is good and the projection is great (I’m writing this with a decant from 2009-2010).
A very fine and elegant perfume. You can tell it’s powdery and it never goes unnoticed. Smells clean, but not too fresh.
It’s citrusy, but like everything from Chanel, elegant and distinguished. It doesn’t go unnoticed; it’s very long-lasting with a great trail. I like it for both winter and spring, and well for both day and night. It has a magical touch that makes me want to bake desserts.
People talked a lot about this perfume and I decided to try it. I had high expectations due to Chanel’s luxury and exclusivity, but it definitely isn’t for me. It seems too heavy, boring, with vanilla dominating everything and a certain neutral soap smell that makes it vulgar. Like with most of their fragrances, I find it suitable for a non-young audience, classic in dress and demeanor. It’s flat and lacks personality.
A very sexy and carnal fragrance, perhaps the most. Men go crazy for it: it’s very feminine, provocative, incites desire and touch, yet elegant. It’s fantastic, pity it ran out on me.
In my opinion, it doesn’t smell the same on all skin types. Like other Chancels, at first it seems powdery and strong, but over time it transforms and becomes personalized. In my case, it settles into a vanilla scent with subtle wood, peach, and powder. I’m a perfume fanatic and this was my favorite for years; when my friends and family smell it, they associate it with me. I’m surprised they say it fades quickly… my handkerchiefs smell days and days.
Smells like a classic, hardworking, and cheerful woman. It’s not easy to wear: it’s strong yet soft at the same time. Woody with a very subtle vanilla touch.
Feminine, fine, elegant, clean, soapy, creamy, powdery, fresh, and with character. So strong and so soft at the same time. I loved it from the sample to my wrist, but beware: don’t wear too much or you’ll be overwhelmed by its intensity. One of my favorites.
I tried to like it because of the brand’s and perfume’s fame. I tested it twice on my skin, but when I smell it, I can’t help thinking of wet baby wipes… it smells too much like baby powder.
I fell in love with this EDP from day one. Although I can’t afford it right now due to the price, it’s the Chanel scent I identify with the most. It’s a vanilla oriental that I adore. Elegant, yet it suits any woman and any look. It starts with a just-right citrus touch, then quickly becomes delicate, soft, floral, vanilla, and powdery. The composition is perfect; it’s timeless, suitable for day and night. The longevity is spectacular and the projection is very decent. Without a doubt, a great investment. Allure has class and versatility, with no defined age, though I think it suits women between twenty and sixty best. It’s not intrusive, delicate, and tender. Very my style. For now, Allure, I watch you from afar, and when I can, *plasm* I spray my wrist to take you on a walk all day.
Exquisite and sublime creation by the great Chanel house. A perfume adored by my mother and by me, with a soft yet powerful character that evokes subtle elegance. A talc-like vanilla, floral, with a spectacular opening that reminds me a lot of the mythical Chanel No. 22, which my mother and I also love. Simply a delight and a wonderful classic.
Launched for the new millennium, Chanel bets on an olfactory renewal: a novel fragrance but very Chanel, like the other legends. Allure is very Allure—luminous, warm, and rich. It’s interesting in all its versions, long-lasting, and sublime. The particular thing is that I use it by mixing concentrations. The 7.5 ml Parfum is a jewel I use with the Eau de Parfum or Toilette, since its notes vary and become different. An aura to play with the highest quality raw materials. It sits among perfumes that make history.
I loved it a lot, but on me it has no trail; it stays very soft, right up against the skin.
Chanel always stands out for its elegance, and Allure is no exception. It’s very elegant and tremendously sensual, a fragrance you become addicted to if it has good chemistry with your skin. To wear Allure, you need to love its rebellion, its skin-deep sensuality, its mystical charm, and its contained energy. Wearing Allure is dressing with a slightly irreverent air of elegance. Its notes: an intense but not vulgar citrus opening, a woody citrus that blends on the skin with a beautiful vanilla that harmonizes with the citrus and woody notes, embracing the jasmine and the shy orange blossom. It’s for cold climates, afternoons, and nights, always well-groomed. Its trail and longevity are excellent. Allure is used with propriety and moderation. Rating 8/10.
Allure opens with an explosion of bergamot and mandarin that gives way to a ripe, juicy peach. White flowers, jasmine, and orange blossom that invade the senses, followed by elegant vanilla with vetiver and cedar that add a woody, earthy touch, avoiding excessive sweetness. Over time and on the skin, it blends into a creamy, talc-like vanilla. It’s perfect for autumn and winter, and I prefer it during the day because at night I like more intoxicating scents. It reminds me of The One by D&G but without that lychee note that turned me off. It’s a fruity oriental vanilla scent, at its peak of maturity, never rancid. Full of Chanel’s elegance and exquisite taste, and it’s my favorite: formal yet very feminine and welcoming. I enjoy it all winter and took my time writing this because I wanted to give it all the chances. Although for some it’s potent, for me it’s very soft, lasts about 4 hours, and the trail is weak, almost skin-scent. I imagine it on an elegant, sensual woman who almost never loses her composure, but behind the scenes lets her mischievous side out and drives her man crazy… 😉
Allure means Charm… and in my opinion, for what time of day would that be good? I think late afternoon to evening.
It’s a French masterpiece, like a gorgeous girl—chic, elegant, and clear-minded. It’s beautiful. Now I wear it on my wrist and stop every three words to smell it. The scent is deep, not too strong, hints of peach, sophisticated, and youthful. It suits any age. Lasts about 6 hours max on my skin with a good trail that projects well. Chanel did a great job, but they should respect Gabrielle’s spirit more. Lasts 5-6 hours, trail 4-5, then it gets softer. It’s fresh and not overwhelming.
Allure EDP is the most refined and distinguished one I own, alongside Coco. It has me spellbound. It’s ideal for daily wear: it conveys femininity and lots of class. Unfortunately, Chanel is almost unavailable in my country, but I found a couple of perfumeries with stock. I’m thinking of buying a backup bottle to keep enjoying this wonder. Greetings from Chile.
It leaves me speechless. I tried it and it changed my perception: sometimes I loved it, other times it smelled like a rich aunt with highlights, then like an older woman with class, and finally, like an El Corte Inglés sales associate. That’s the exact scent—an ECI sales associate… I’d give it one more point if the bottle were vintage from the house; me and my bottles.
Put this on today and there’s nothing to say—it’s pure classic. It feels eternal, ageless, super creamy, and elegant. It puts me in a great mood and the quality is top-notch. People, both men and women, always give me dirty looks when I wear it. It’s a gem, very pretty.
A feminine fragrance with sensual hints and its own personality. It’s a fruity-floral. An architectural blend of ripe peach with rose and jasmine, and finally, fresh vanilla and cedar give it a light, subtle, and elegant oriental charm. The perfume presents a slow evolution, but it’s a fusion of notes that results in a wonderful aroma. It’s on a different wavelength compared to current sweet fruits. It has a touch of distinction that can take it from a young girl to a mature woman without missing a beat. It clings to the skin, wrapping around the woman and giving her an elegant character. It’s like a comet. With an initial core that presents flashes of a mix of all the notes, slowly breaking down note by note in its trail until the end. A masterpiece by Chanel. Totally recommended and suitable for any season.
Allure is more sophisticated and versatile today than many sweet and fruity perfumes. When Jacques Polge created it, he probably didn’t aim for something overpowering, but rather with the Chanel stamp (which currently seems to cost a lot); we can’t overlook its great elegance and modernity, almost 20 years after its release. I love the opening; it’s refreshing, obviously due to its bergamot and beautiful tangerine, but always in moderation, without going overboard like short-lived, light-use perfumes. In Allure, there’s a point where these ever-present citrus notes are combined beautifully: their sweet vanilla infusion with the syrup that constantly blends the evolving formula into a mature fragrance with flowers. Flowers that smell better than current ones because they aren’t heavy or synthetic. This perfume is highly notable; it combines sweet notes with precious fruits, plus great longevity on the skin. It seems like an overlooked bet, but I keep it in mind because, being sweet, it gives me the chance to wear it on summer nights, during hot seasons. It never loses the Chanel seal, with that fine spirit and depth that makes you realize you’re wearing an exquisite perfume. It executes so cleanly and precisely that I see it on any woman, from the most modern to the most classic—that’s what I like most: it’s a Chanel. The price is very high; choosing a perfume requires weighing options, but to be honest, except for the Exclusifs, there are many steps left to climb in this house’s latest creations to reach this simply beautiful specimen. It was never a brutal boom, never overwhelming, but today it still stands, and in my humble opinion, it delivers a good punch to a bunch of fruity perfumes that are either too bland or too sugary.
A very special fragrance. Very creamy and original, very elegant. Versatile for daily wear and some special occasions. I love it; I see it for a woman over 40 (I wear it without issue and I’m 26).
I left my review for the EDT, but since I have this version now, I can’t pass without saying I LOVE this perfume in all its facets, and I dream of buying the Pure Parfum or Extrait someday. Among my favorite perfumes that I always keep in stock for special occasions, it’s citrusy, a bit oriental, amber, and vanilla; the trail lasts all day, making me feel sensual and distinguished. Some might think it’s for mature women, but young women can wear it too—that’s the magic of Chanel. Dare to try it.
It’s my go-to scent and one of my favorites. It’s the aroma many people remember me by. It’s special and varies depending on skin type (that’s what makes it attractive) because it smells different on everyone, though it keeps the same essence. Even though I have it now, I don’t use it much because the price in my country is very high. Delicious, sweet, vanilla-infused, and floral, it’s a scent you’ll definitely never forget. And if you have a partner, I recommend the Allure for men; each of you will smell like your own Allure, and you’ll complement each other perfectly.
Allure gives me mixed feelings; I struggle to decide if I like it or not. I tried it when I was very young, and it smelled too adult for me; now that I’m 32, it seems like a fragrance with gorgeous vanilla and woody notes, very creamy and elegant. It has almost no sillage, and I think that’s the point, otherwise it could get heavy. It also doesn’t last long on my skin; after two hours, I can barely smell it. I think it’s a close-range fragrance that I’m not ready to buy yet, but one I’ll definitely keep an eye on.
Absolutely feminine and sexy. It smells amazing… elegant, floral, and a little sweet. It’s my favorite of all time. It lasts a long time and projects really well, a solid 10. That said, it’s very expensive.
It’s a beige perfume, with the soft, fine hue of makeup. It smells like salty vanilla dusted with rice powder and flowers: peony, rose petals, and lots of orange blossom. There’s something about it that reminds me of toys and dolls, in the most positive sense possible. It’s very sophisticated and elegant, yet enveloping, pleasant, and easy. It’s like a fine, warm veil that adds nothing but beauty, much like a rich base makeup that feels great on the skin.
I absolutely love Allure EDP; it’s become my go-to scent, and I adore it. It lasts about six hours, so I’m going to restock as soon as I run out. So happy I found it. 🥰
Divain is a clone of Allure that I’ve liked for years, but since I didn’t want to spend too much on something for occasional use, I decided to try it. It was my first time with the brand: they were very formal and rushed, but I won’t be returning. The good news is it wasn’t a huge expense because the scent of this 085 is a total ‘want but can’t have.’ The tangerine is barely there, the rose smells old, and they throw in cheap vanilla to cover it up. It’s similar, sure, but like plastic next to glass. They sent me two samples of the originals I didn’t know. Years ago I tried a drugstore clone that was way better, so I expected more from Divain. But nope. In the end, I had to buy a 35ml bottle of the original. Bottom line, the experiment cost me a lot. 🤷🏻
One word: style bomb.
Among my go-to perfumes, it’s a delight, especially for those who enjoy vanilla scents but not synthetic vanilla, but rather fine and exquisite. I’m in love with Allure EDP and Allure Sensuelle, simply a jewel for those of us who are high-end perfume collectors in the fullest sense of the word. I love Chanel perfumes.
Feminine and distinguished with that classic air that walks the line between ‘should I wear this’ or ‘is it too retro’?. Allure launched in 1999. Elegant and feminine in spades. Smells wonderful. From Chanel, my favorite is Gabrielle, which came out in 2017. Pity that Gabrielle fades on my skin; I should try the perfume or the essence… For now, I’m sticking with Mon Guerlain, which is a bit further from that classic line, though only slightly.
If I had to describe this perfume in one word: spectacular. Super feminine with the Chanel seal. Elegant, sophisticated. Looks good at any time, in any moment. Roses with vanilla and soft cedar in the background make it irresistible. Definitely want to use it again.
Owning and wearing this perfume is a life prize… Refined, delicate, strong but not overpowering, delicious, creamy, and dry at the same time… on my skin, magnolia and woods dominate, a very sensual blend… I love wearing it and I love smelling it.
If you like vanilla, you must have this; it doesn’t compare to today’s synthetic vanillas. Sensual, creamy, sweet but not cloying, with a sillage and longevity that’s enchanting. Extremely elegant and exquisite for any age.
I’ve been searching for a vanilla that defines me for ages. They’re either too sweet, dusty like an old closet, or too citrusy and barely noticeable. In the end, I always come back to this vanilla. It’s so well-crafted. It’s a 10: the flowers are perfectly balanced with the vanilla, just the right amount of vetiver to keep the femininity intact. The compliments never stop; it’s refined, elegant, and classy, just like its name suggests. A signature perfume for any woman that will make her feel powerful.
We’re looking at a powerhouse from the Chanel House. Without those sharp aldehydes or ‘mummy’ vibes, which, by the way, I adore. It’s a white floral with peach fruit, lovely roses, and creamy, bright woods. Warm, sensual, opulent, elegant, and distinctive. It has great projection and sillage. It’s my favorite from the house because it’s not as conventional as they usually make us expect; it has a sexy, captivating side. Afterward, I’d lean toward Coco Chanel Eau de Toilette, which seems to overflow with class, warmth, nocturnality, and a bit of mischief, very Marlene Dietrich.
At 32, I wrote my first Allure review: I liked it, but felt a bit too mature for me. Maybe because for years it was the signature scent of one of my aunts. It happens often: you intuitively know you’ll love something, but you sense it’s not the time, that your nose isn’t ready yet. At 37, Allure is one of my favorites; everything about it shines with beauty and warmth. That jasmine-vanilla combination Jacques Polge made iconic for the house radiates here. A masterpiece whose quality Chanel reserves today only for its high-end line. After years of dreaming about it, I finally got a Beige from Les Exclusifs, and I can testify that Allure has nothing to envy from that rich cousin.
Spectacular scent, the pure DNA of Chanel. You can smell the 22 with that vanilla and vetiver, plus a hint of Cristalle with freshly cut white flowers. Forget the artificial, overpowering peach; everything here is balanced, nothing overpowers. It’s Allure, that implicit elegance that’s hard to define. For those who love Chanel more than Chanel.
