Have you worn Agar Musk?

Tell us how it opens, how it settles on your skin, how long it lasts and when you wear it.

  1. Psicostasis

Syrupy and fruity, but without the sugar. The woods are juicy and smooth, like dark berries, with a silky plaster-like texture instead of fibrous. The bitterness is medicinal, not green, and while medicinal notes often smell dirty, here it’s perfectly polished. Monegal prefers clean finishes. It’s elegant and linear: like tripping in the lobby of a luxury hotel and noticing the carpet texture after the bump.

  3. SirCharlie

Agar Musk by Monegal is rich, but it doesn’t last as I hoped. It’s a clean oud with lots of nutmeg, linear, and fades quickly to cling to the skin. Sometimes it feels like I’ve smelled it before; the drydown loses quality and texture. Compared to other perfumes from the brand, it falls a bit short. Rating: 6/10. Tried it in the Discovery Set.

  5. Norman1985

I discovered it through Monegal’s sample set and I have no regrets. Nobody talks about this gem—it’s powerful, distinct, and elegant. I wear it on special occasions and I’m satisfied with the performance; it doesn’t project everywhere like some Arabic fragrances. Personally, I give it a 10.

  7. Memoquique

Excellent aromatic oud. Good projection and longevity. Requires a transition from casual to formal wear and should be avoided in extreme heat, because the combo of vetiver, nutmeg, leather, and oud can become tiring after a few hours. I detect an unlisted green note; I’d bet it’s violet.

Agar Musk has disappointed me. The blend isn’t bad; it barely evolves, is pleasant, and easy to wear, but it smells almost like Cashmeran Velvet—a synthetic essence between woods and musk—without the agarwood ever appearing. It makes no sense to call it Agar if the wood isn’t there. The musk is present, but I see no artistry. The only good thing is the beautiful bottle, which doesn’t justify the exorbitant price. Rating: 3.
