Aoud Vanille by Mancera

Dark, smoky vanilla, not the typical stuff you see everywhere. A blend of burnt oud, lots of saffron, and buzzing spices on top. Smells like smoked wood with vanilla and spices. It’s fairly linear without much evolution. Reminds me of Bvlgari’s Orom, which is rounder, less spicy, and higher quality. Since I already own Orom, I don’t see the need to buy this Aoud Vanille, but at this price point, it’s an absolute steal.

Exquisite perfume with that medicinal oud, the signature of the Mancera/Montale house. It has a gorgeous vanilla that adds a sweet touch, but it’s not gourmand. It doesn’t have much evolution; it’s more linear. If you don’t like complex scents, this is ideal. It has great projection and longevity. I wore it the other day and it reminded me of something familiar; turns out, as a perfume lover, I’ve created two of my own fragrances using essences, molecules, absolutes, and resins, and bingo: the Iso E Super, that woody-ambery molecule, smells exactly the same.

As usually happens with Mancera, the name leads you to think of something else. Yes, it has Oud and Vanilla, but the undisputed star is Sandalwood. Since I atomized it months ago, I got the idea of a spicy oriental sandalwood. It starts with a soft touch of saffron and a marked pepper; I don’t detect cardamomo, I guess it tempers it. Then comes a slightly synthetic vanilla and the oud, accompanying an omnipresent sandalwood from start to finish. It brings superficial memories of Homem Dom de Natura, which is far from a flaw but rather a compliment. Many say it has a Babycat vibe, and yes, it does, but they’re different paths. If you like woody orientals and this sandalwood-vanilla combo, I recommend trying it. To be objective, I give it 8/10. I’m not a fan of sandalwood, but this interested me a lot. Gender: Unisex Masculine. Longevity: 8 hours (good). Projection: 2 meters after an hour. Rating: 8/10, one of the best woodies from Mancera, if not the best. For those tired of Oud with Rose, this is the way to go. Highly recommended.

Sweet, smoky, and dry vanilla, driven by pepper, saffron, and an oud accord with a medicinal nuance. The saffron gives a leather sensation in the dry down. However, the perfume feels incomplete and abrupt. It gives the impression that it’s missing elements that could have better balanced or softened the composition.

Direct and no-nonsense fragrance: a real hit of oud highlighted with pepper for a balsamic touch, accompanied by cardamom and flowers that stay in the background against a vanilla present from the start and growing until it equals the oud. Depending on your skin, this vanilla-oud mix with saffron and spices can feel sticky or plastic, like a fresh toy doll out of the box, which might be off-putting. That’s why I insist on testing it on skin before buying. While it has a challenging profile, I don’t see it as oriented toward women; quite the opposite. I recognize there are other more creative options on the market with woody and vanilla bases, and Mancera has other perfumes that twist vanilla differently. The best advice is to visit the official website and order samples (in the EU, a set is very cheap) to find your favorite. Congratulations to everyone who enjoys this Aoud Vanille in cold weather.

It’s a dark oud with vanilla halfway through, sweet but not cloying. The oud and saffron are marvelous, elegant, and regal; a bona fide masterpiece. If you like oud and vanilla, don’t think twice. It has reasonable similarities to Oud Wood and Dark Aoud, but with vanilla, simple!

DO NOT BUY BLIND. If you don’t like sweet fragrances, this isn’t for you. In my experience, I couldn’t handle it. It’s very sweet, to the point of causing nausea. It’s a heavy fragrance, for cold climates and nighttime settings. It’s unisex; although I’m a man, a woman can wear it without issues. The vanilla and floral touches make it a bit feminine. It reminded me of three scents: 1. Candy canes opening a bag of marshmallows, 2. Medicinal syrup, and 3. Vanilla protein powder. That said, it’s a fragrance that doesn’t fade even after washing with soap.

As soon as I tested the sample, I knew the bottle was mine. It’s an elegant, woody, and vanilla-scented aroma, very balanced and harmonious. I use it daily; it works great for work, going out, or anything, because it’s super comfortable. It feels cozy, balsamic, and enveloping with great depth and lasts hours. No one is bothered by it; the vanilla gives it that sexy touch. It’s not gourmand; it’s one of my favorites and I’d buy it again without hesitation.

I first tried it in a decant and the medicinal opening didn’t do much for me, but months later, with more cold, I loved it. The dry down is top-notch; it smells like malted vanilla with burnt wood. I almost bought the Mancera Vanille Exclusive, but every time I smelled the Aoud Vanille, I liked it more, and in the end, I bought it because it feels more masculine, though I don’t rule out the other one later. On my skin, it lasts about 10 hours; the sillage is a bit heavy, it’s sweet, so it’s great for cold and ideal for going out or the office.

A delicious scent that initially smells synthetic, like bags of cereal, slightly medicinal, and shoe grease (due to the pepper and cardamom), all mixed with caramelized vanilla and the ever-present oud. It evolves into a vanilla cappuccino with whipped cream. The projection and longevity are brutal. One day, the sillage fell on my pillow, and after five days, it still smelled of vanilla, relaxing me. I enjoy it most in its final evolution, that last sweet and comforting sigh. Ideal for warm climates, though versatile. If you like sweet and medicinal oud, buy it without hesitation.

It was a blind buy after reading it was like the Tom Ford Noir but even more perfect. Total hit. It’s said to be unisex, but on my skin, it’s absolutely feminine. A very intense woody vanilla that lasts hours and hours. It’s a fragrance you need to have.

This is simply wood-vanilla or vanilla-wood, without misinterpreting the ‘simply’ part! It has incredible quality, longevity, and sillage. To my nose, there’s no medicinal oud here that usually drowns everything out. It was a blind buy based on a YouTube review by TLTG Reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. Love at first sniff.

Aoud Vanille reminds me of the smell of a feedlot. That aroma connected me to my youth working there: crushed grains, flours, powdered vitamins, and livestock insecticide. It smells like a veterinary pharmacy and pig food. How hard it is to consider this a perfume when, after work, I had to shower to get rid of it before going out with friends. Fortunately, as it dries down, the bitter scent yields a bit to a creamy base with vanilla and sandalwood, but that initial aura never fully disappears. Good thing I only bought a 5 mL decant. Definitely, with niche perfumes, you have to be careful, especially with oud. Better to test them first; sometimes they’re exquisite, other times repulsive. I passed with Mancera, and look how many I’ve tried that I liked until now.

We discovered it through a suggestion from a sales associate at a perfume boutique in Spain. Definitely masculine, and I say this while having several in my collection that are sold as such but I judge to be unisex. This one doesn’t seem unisex to me. Great essence, woody notes stand out, moss, spicy spices, and a touch of vanilla: the smell of the forest in full summer! According to my husband, it reminds him of the Black Forest in Germany from his childhood. Strong, elegant, masculine, oriental… classic.
