Descripción

Minuit à New York by Gloria Vanderbilt is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2015, the nose behind this composition is Dora Baghriche. The top notes reveal neroli, pink peony, and white lily; the heart unfolds gardenia, jasmine, violet, and hyacinth; while the base notes close the olfactory pyramid with sandalwood, patchouli, Amberwood, and suede.

Does anyone who owns it know if it has good longevity and what it smells like, or what it resembles? I’m planning to buy it online since I can’t find it in physical stores. Thanks.

  • A blind buy that turned out to be a total bust. It’s a floral fragrance pretending to be fruity despite having no fruit notes. At first, you clearly smell the narcotic scent of tuberose, with tuberose and gardenia. But alongside them, a blend of peony and violet gives it a blackberryed tuberose vibe. In the base, excessive patchouli combined with sandalwood and woods creates a milky, cold sensation—not very sweet and with a very recognizable medicinal smell. To me, it reminds me of Swarovski’s Aura without the pink pepper or Britney Spears’ Radiance, though in Radiance the wild berries dominate, and I prefer both. Ultimately, it smells like Bisolvon cough syrup. As usually happens when you dislike something, the trail and longevity are huge, lasting over seven hours on me. It has great presence. Good for autumn and winter days or spring nights. The bottle is the same as the original, though the liquid is pink. I think they tried to create a pink aroma similar to current trends, using white flowers and tuberose as references instead of blackberries, raspberries, and berries. The price is ridiculous; you can find it online for 11€ for 100ml. If you’re considering a blind buy and like these notes, you can take the risk since you won’t lose much. As for its title… I assure you, I still haven’t figured out its meaning. I wouldn’t want to think New York smells like this at night. At best, we’d find ourselves in quarantine due to a flu epidemic.

  • Blind buy that turned out to be a total letdown. It’s floral but lacks any fruitiness, featuring tuberose and gardenia that give it a narcotic touch. Peony and violet add an African neroli-blackberry vibe, while patchouli, sandalwood, and base woods create a milky, cold, medicinal sensation reminiscent of Bisolvon. It reminds me of Swarovski’s Aura without the pepper, or Britney’s Radiance, though I prefer both of those. The sillage and longevity are massive, lasting over 7 hours. It has presence, ideal for fall, winter, or spring nights. The bottle matches the original, but the liquid is pink; it seems like a failed attempt to mimic fruity scents with white flowers. Ridiculous price; you can find it online for 11 euros for 100ml. If you like these notes, take a chance, you won’t lose much. The title makes no sense; I don’t think New York smells like this at night, but rather that we were in quarantine with the flu.

  • This perfume boils down to tuberose, tuberose, and jasmine. I was eager to try it since I adore the classic Vanderbilt, and finding Minuit à New York in a physical store at such a great price made me unable to resist. I’ll definitely use it, but I expected something else. From start to finish, I only smell tuberose and jasmine, with a heavy emphasis on the tuberose. It feels spring-like (probably due to the floral overload) and is best for daytime. It smells nice, like a bouquet of tuberose and jasmine dusted with a tiny bit of sugar that goes almost unnoticed, but it’s too floral for my taste. The description lists it as an oriental floral, but I’d classify it as 100% floral; I don’t see any oriental notes. It’s nothing like the masterpiece Sophia Grojsmann created with her brother, Vanderbilt. Another detail I’m not fond of, mentioned in a previous review, is the lack of a New York connection, unless Central Park is filled with tuberose and jasmine at dusk and the scent spreads across the city… I hope to check that out someday.

  • I dove in headfirst when I saw it; I love the classic Vanderbilt and this didn’t disappoint. It’s a classic floral, slightly exaggerated at first by a synthetic red berry sweetness. The vanilla from the classic isn’t here, but I don’t miss it because it gives the scent its own character. Soon it softens into a beautiful, enveloping, and warm floral aroma. It feels innocent and positive, yet sophisticated. The price is a steal at 9.99€ for 100ml. It smells better than many new fragrances from legendary houses that cost eight times as much. Trail and longevity are good so far.

  • Since I saw it, I was sold instantly. I love the classic Vanderbilt, and this one hasn’t disappointed. It’s a classic floral, a bit exaggerated at first with that sweet berry note, which feels slightly synthetic. The vanilla that dominates the original isn’t here, but I don’t miss it because this version has its own character. Soon it softens into a beautiful, enveloping, and warm floral scent. It feels innocent and positive, yet also sophisticated. The price is ridiculous—9.99€ for 100ml. It smells better than new fragrances from legendary houses that cost eight times as much. The sillage and longevity are good so far.

  • A modern take on the original Vanderbilt that barely resembles it. Patchouli and sandalwood weigh it down. Good fixation, 4/10 for the scent, 8/10 longevity, 8/10 sillage, 9/10 value for money, 5/10 versatility, and 7/10 packaging. Would I buy it again? No, I didn’t even buy it.

  • It’s a more modern take on the original Vanderbilt, but the patchouli and sandalwood feel heavy to me. Longevity is good, the scent itself rates a 4/10, but the trail and staying power are both 8/10. For quality/price, I’d give it a 9/10, versatility is a 5/10, and packaging is a 7/10. I didn’t buy it, so I wouldn’t.

  • A beautiful floral perfume with neroli, jasmine, and a warm, woody dry down. For the price, it’s a gem, with great longevity and incredible sillage. I find it more for evening and late afternoon, 10/10.

  • It’s a gorgeous floral with neroli, jasmine, and a woody, warm dry down. For the price, it’s an absolute steal, with great longevity and an incredible sillage. I find it more of a night and late-afternoon scent, 10/10.

  • I was pleasantly surprised by this perfume. I bought it for the excellent price and dared to buy it blind based on the notes; I must say I don’t like the original Vanderbilt—my mother-in-law wears it, and it doesn’t work for me at all, it’s nothing like this one. On my skin, it smells almost like L’Interdit (which I adore) at an unbeatable price with surprising longevity, though it’s not invasive at all, so I’ll keep buying it. Excellent value for money.

  • What a great surprise, honestly. For the price, the sillage, and the longevity. It smells very floral; I don’t notice much oriental or wood. It’s elegant, simple, and versatile, except I don’t see it for evening wear. I’ll definitely repurchase.

  • I struggled to decide after trying the awful original Gloria Vanderbilt, but the price was a hit. I don’t get why a brand would use the same bottle for completely different perfumes, and that’s exactly the case here. Fortunately, it has nothing to do with the original. To my nose, it’s fruity-floral, even though it doesn’t contain fruit. It works anywhere, formal or casual, but it has a serious touch better suited for women aged 30 to 45. Good for day or night, but I wouldn’t wear it in excessive heat, so not for summer.

  • Floral white with wood notes, perfect for winter and formal events. The amber and talc-like touch give it a vintage vibe without being overwhelming; here, sweet neroli and sandalwood take the lead. Lasts long on the skin and the price is a steal. It has all three Bs.

  • I find the opening fresh and lovely. After a while, some red berry notes appear that are a bit synthetic and loud for my taste; that intensity softens, and that’s what dominates on my skin until it fades away completely.

  • A woody white floral for winter and formal occasions. You can really smell the amber and the powdery accord, giving it a vintage touch that doesn’t bother at all. For me, the sweet neroli and sandalwood stand out. It lasts quite well on skin, and the price is a gift. A perfume with all three B’s.

  • I had my reservations about buying it blind, but I was fascinated by the scent; it’s very sexy. I detect red berries, floral notes, and a strong patchouli, but without being overwhelming—perfect for an afternoon or evening outing, or a date. I feel that if I need to reapply after three hours, I can still smell it on my clothes, but not on my skin. Great purchase.

  • What a surprise! I put it on immediately because I had a dinner and, in my rush, forgot my usual perfume and felt a bit naked, so I had no choice but to hit a local drugstore to see what was available :P… among Shakiras, Pachás, Victorios, and Lucchinos… this one seemed the most appropriate and formal. It’s pure floral, with jasmine and neroli highlighted, though it’s not that powdery Vanderbilt style; this one is more wearable. Still, I don’t think everyone will like it for that vintage touch, maybe a bit of a “lacquer residue” as Dame de Noir said, but I love that smell XD. It also smells like berries, I’m not sure where they come from since they aren’t in the pyramid, but whatever… it’s a more than correct quality-to-price perfume, feels elegant, lasted until the end of the day, and with just two sprays I smelled good for a long time. Definitely a highly recommended purchase.

  • Wow, what a surprise! I put it on because I had dinner and, in a rush, forgot to wear one of my own, leaving me feeling a bit naked, so I had no choice but to run into a local drugstore to see what they had :P… Among all the options—Shakiras, Pachás, Victorios, and Lucchinos… this one seemed the most appropriate/formal. It’s exclusively floral, highlighting jasmine and neroli, though it’s not as powdery as a traditional Vanderbilt; it’s more wearable. Still, I don’t think it will appeal to everyone since it does have a certain vintage touch, perhaps a bit of ‘lacquer residue,’ as Dame de Noir put it, but I absolutely love that scent XD. It also reminds me a bit of red berries, though I’m not sure where that comes from since they’re not in the pyramid, but whatever… it’s a very correct quality-price perfume, feels elegant, lasted until the end of the day, and with a couple of sprays, I smelled good for quite a while. Definitely a highly recommended purchase.

  • I absolutely love this fragrance. To me, it’s lily of the valley and Coca-Cola, then I catch the neroli. It’s supremely floral but also very oriental. Original, full of personality, with a distinct 90s vibe. The longevity is quite good, though the sillage isn’t too strong. The price is laughable, a true gem. And certainly, it’s a loud fragrance, so I recommend it for winter, autumn, and evening wear. It’s very special. It doesn’t transport me to New York, but definitely to the East.

  • I absolutely love this fragrance. To me, it smells like lily of the valley and Coca-Cola, then the neroli comes through. It’s super floral but also very oriental. It’s original, has personality, and reminds me of the 90s. The longevity is quite good, and the sillage isn’t too strong. The price is ridiculous, it’s a masterpiece. And of course, it’s a loud perfume, so I recommend it for winter, autumn, and night. It’s very special. It transports me not to New York, but to the East. 💖

  • Respecting all the opinions, it doesn’t feel balanced to me. I gave it a chance by testing it with my Vanderbilt Classic, which I’ll always keep even if I have a million other perfumes and ten times more expensive ones. In the end, I threw it away.
