Your Devotion Eau de Parfum Intense by Dolce&Gabbana

In Mexico, my country, Agua de Horchata is very popular, but made with the seeds and a bit of melon pulp, cinnamon, milk, and soaked rice… well, this perfume is a glass full of crushed ice and creamy melon horchata! I consider it a beautiful perfume, in that clean girl vibe slathered with fine, expensive cream, but elevated. Lactonic: quite. Sweet: moderate. Fruity: moderate. Vanilla: very vanilla, but ehhh! A fresh, ozonic, very special vanilla! It lasted really well, eight hours with considerable projection and then close to the skin the rest of the day. I hope they release the full body line, with body cream and body wash!

I want to warn those who went to smell it at Sephora or another store… and were disappointed, because even though it’s an INTENSE perfume, it smells like they’re selling you the scent separately to download; don’t trust it, because I don’t know what’s going on with those testers, they have nothing to do with how the perfume actually turns out. Despite smelling the disappointing tester, I bought it because the Devotion line has never let me down, and when I sprayed the perfume at home… NOTHING like it, it smells very intensely of vanilla cream.. melon… a little citrus touch… it’s delicious to smell. It reminds me of a little pastry/tart with nice fresh pastry cream and fruit on top, it’s not cloying at all but it has that characteristic gourmand feel. And yes, it projects and lasts quite a while, it’s not a monster but it won’t abandon you after a few hours.

The nerve to call it intense, and it lasts as long as a cologne: soft and subtle. It’s floral and citrus, but if you’re looking for melon, there’s none here! I expected something creamy and melony, but I found a shy, milky melon; it’s not vanilla-like or creamy, it leans more citrus. And for the price, and the scam of saying it’s an intense eau de parfum, it’s a scam. It does leave a scent, but close to the skin. Sillage 6, Longevity 7, Originality 6, Quality 5.

Here you find a shy and creamy melon; in sillage and longevity, it has eau de toilette quality. A resounding no. If you want to smell like melon, for that they’ve already done it amazingly well with Divine Le Parfum or Star Girl by Don Algodon. This one, although I think it’s the most interesting of the whole line, adds nothing to the perfume offering.

Personally, I really liked it. It very much follows the line of the other Devotion fragrances, especially as it closely resembles My Devotion. Here we find an elegant, vanilla-scented melon that is delicious (to my taste). It’s not as sweet as I imagined it would be based on the notes. It’s a Devotion with a very present yet elegant milky melon. It’s not simply sweet. I personally loved that. I think the oakmoss is the elegant touch that keeps the perfume from being too sweet.
