Descripción

Wild by DSQUARED² is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2014, this composition was created by Daphné Bugey and Annick Menardo. Its top notes of bergamot and cardamom give way to a heart of sambac jasmine and patchouli, while the base rests on a bed of vetiver and cedar.

The manager at the Dsquared stand at El Corte Inglés Sorolla in Valencia confirmed to me that this new fragrance will be available right in November 2014.

  • Coincidentally, I got interested in this new Wild by Dsquared today; at the brand’s fashion stand, people are already talking about it a lot and very positively. They say it’s woody, and although it’s not declared, it has a leather note without denying herbal pieces. I suppose a 30ml bottle could be enveloping with good sillage; it’s all conjecture, but those who know the launch are hyping it up. We’ll have to wait and see the result from two recognized noses.

  • It’s normal for it to launch earlier in Canada and the USA; here, if they’re not lying, it’s November (at least at the Dsquared stand at El Corte Inglés). Besides the travel sizes, there are 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml bottles.

  • As promised, Wild launched this November at Julia Perfumerías too. I consider it a great, original perfume with elegant, sensual personality and a nice build-up. It didn’t disappoint, so I bought the 100ml version. A novelty that I predict will be a huge success; out of 12 bottles at the El Corte Inglés Sorolla store in Valencia this afternoon, zero were left, including the reserved ones. Sillage and longevity are impeccable—a masterpiece. I’ll leave the notes for another review. 10/10.

  • I didn’t like it. The exact opposite of what its name ‘Wild’ says? I’d call it ‘Soft’. I won’t describe the notes. It’s fresh, super soft, and super boring, like D&G Light Blue. Cypress, resin, earth, labdanum? Really? It doesn’t smell like any of that. Light, fresh, and soft—perfect for over-applying in summer, yet you’ll get bored in 10 minutes. I’m not a fan of heavy perfumes; quite the opposite. Luckily, you can find it for under $40-50 for 100ml. I’m sorry for the fans and my friend @Juancar677 who likes it, but I think it adds nothing. That said, no one will say it smells bad.

It’s a very youthful fragrance, but usable by men up to 50 years old; quite flexible. I didn’t find it as bold as its bottle suggests; it reminded me of the Italian style, perhaps because of that always-young elegance they have.

  • Over time, this fragrance that I initially loved has failed in longevity. It’s pleasant, but it feels too youthful for me; browsing Dsquared2’s lineup, it smells like almost teenage perfume, except maybe the first Wood scent in the heat. Overall, the projection isn’t what I wanted, and the mid-notes fade quickly. I deduce it’s aimed at a young audience who loves their own brand. The strange thing is, there are similar fragrances with much better quality. I gifted it to my nephew a year ago.
