  • A characterful, rough, masculine, elegant, and classic vetiver. The opening is sharp and fresh, very green, led by vetiver and mint; the combination is excellent. Thyme is noticeable, but on my skin it takes the lead after 10 minutes. There’s almost certainly an undeclared spice, because at 15 minutes cumin appears alongside the thyme. Here, the freshness fades, giving way to a warmer, spicier vibe from the spices and tobacco. By the two-hour mark, the trail drops and hugs the skin; the spices vanish to reveal a drier vetiver, like hay cut days ago and drying in the sun. It remains green, just less fresh, with a smoky, dry touch. The trail is good for the first hour, drops significantly in the second, then settles. Longevity: 8 hours. Rating: 7.5/10.

  • Vetiver Royal Bourbon: Opens with mint and thyme reminiscent of cedar. Vetiver joins fleeting notes of tobacco and juniper (no iris or immortelle). The dry down is defined by vetiver, oakmoss, and leather (no labdanum, styrax, or sandalwood). Projection lasts 6 hours and stays above the skin for over 8. This is a scent where vetiver rules from the start. The dry down is very similar to Lalique’s Encre Noire, though less intense, despite lacking cedar. A mature (+50), masculine, and intense fragrance—not for those who shy away from depth. Only for cold weather, as it becomes too invasive in the heat.

  • Sharp and strong vetiver opening with mint, almost medicinal. The minty note amps up the woody and herbal facets, giving it power and freshness. It then evolves into a classic vetiver—warm, full-bodied, mature, rustic, and present. This style screams warmth, formality, and maturity. If you hate vetiver, skip it; but if you’re over 35 or love mature, formal scents, this is an excellent choice.

  • Fedehart

A fragrance with a sharp, strong opening of vetiver and mint, with a medicinal touch. The minty spectrum amplifies the woody and herbal elements, adding power and freshness. Then, a classic vetiver emerges—warm, full-bodied, mature, rustic, and present. This style exudes warmth, formality, and maturity. If you don’t like vetiver, avoid it; but if you’re over 35 or enjoy mature, formal scents, this is an excellent option.
