I haven’t tried many from Oriza L. Legrand (just Reve d’Ossian, Horizon, Mousse Chypre, and this gem), but this is definitely the best! It follows the line of Baccarat Rouge 540, though it performs a bit less. It smells sweet, like sugar or cotton candy, over a classic cologne base. As it dries down, the sweetness lowers and becomes subtle and elegant. I think it’s unisex and perfect for daily wear. If you like sweet scents, it’s worth trying! Scent: 10, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Value: 8, Versatility: 9, Uniqueness: 8, Overall: 9.5.
I’ve ordered the entire Oriza L. Legrand collection and am reviewing each one. Starting with Le Regent: upon spraying, it reminds me of the classic 4711 with sweet resins (at first it might seem like something for an older lady, but once it dries down, it’s totally unisex). In the middle, vanilla settles with talcum powder and almond (not listed, but they’re there). In the base, the classic cologne and resins linger, along with the talcum powder and a softened vanilla, where a slight leather note then appears. It projects noticeably for the first 3 hours, then fades but clings to the skin incredibly well for 8 to 10 hours, even after showering. Oriza L. Legrand is real niche quality, with unique fragrances at a fair price. Le Regent proves it: exquisite, elegant, vintage, and with a sweetness that doesn’t overwhelm like modern scents.
Le Regent opens with resins over powdery vanilla, where a citrus-floral touch and a hint of sour milk are barely perceptible in the distance. Despite its marked sweetness, it maintains a luminous transparency that makes it ideal for spring. What I love most is its delicate tenderness, smelling like freshly bathed baby skin with cologne and talcum powder. It achieves this without losing its oriental character—a masterful success.
