Penhaligon’s latest release, one I didn’t even know existed until a friend at Julia de Andorra recommended it. It’s a pure fougère that perfectly captures a spring morning in an English countryside: green, herbal, mossy, with notes of mint, basil, lavender, cypress, hyssop, and cedar. Smells like freshly cut grass and fresh air—very natural. It doesn’t bring anything new to the fougère genre, but the quality of the ingredients really shines through; if the price isn’t an issue, go for it. Lasts about 5-6 hours on skin with moderate projection. Scent: 6.5, Longevity: 6, Projection: 6, Versatility: 7.5.
Green and fresh opening, a quality fougère featuring hyper-realistic cypress and fir alongside mint and lavender. Unfortunately, that lasts only a short while; within an hour, it fades into a very common woody base that offers nothing new. Not recommended. Longevity is okay (6-7 hours), but the projection is weak.
Green and fresh opening, a quality fougère with incredible realism in the cypress and fir paired with mint and lavender. Too bad it fades so quickly; after an hour, that wonderful top note disappears, leaving behind a very common woody dry-down that adds nothing. Skip it. Longevity is decent (6-7 hours), but the projection is weak.
Penhaligon’s latest, a fragrance I didn’t even know existed until a friend at Julia de Andorra suggested it. It’s a quintessential fougère that beautifully evokes a quiet spring morning in an English field. It’s entirely green, herbal, and mossy, with mint, basil, and lavender providing freshness, while cedar, cypress, and hyssop add that herbal touch. It feels like walking through a field with freshly cut grass—pure nature and fresh air. It smells very natural. While it doesn’t bring anything new to the fougère genre, the ingredient quality is evident; if the price isn’t a concern, it’s worth it. Longevity is appropriate for this type of fragrance, around 5-6 hours on skin with moderate projection.
