Tabac Rose by BDK Parfums is an oriental spicy fragrance from the olfactive family, designed for men and women. Launched in 2020, this scent was composed by perfumer Julien Rasquinet. Its olfactive structure unfolds with top notes of plum, pink pepper, and Italian lemon; a heart revealing Turkish rose, chocolate, and cinnamon; and a woody, earthy base formed by tobacco, Indonesian patchouli leaves, and Spanish labdanum.

So happy to find niche quality like this! The opening is a potent citrus that didn’t quite take my fancy, but after 5 minutes, it transforms into fresh, sweet rose. It evolves non-stop, which is fascinating. Then comes the creamy labdanum, dark and seductive plum, with tobacco and chocolate peeking through; the pepper adds a nice kick to the rose, and patchouli closes it out with a floral, fruity, amber, spicy, and honeyed finish (like fresh Scandal By Night). It’s unisex-leaning-feminine, with great trail, projection, and luxury longevity. It reminds me a bit of Lancome’s Oud Bouquet and something of Swiss Arabian’s Shaghaf Oud, but they aren’t copies—they walk different paths. Once I finish my 3ml, I’ll only restock this: Tabac Rose. Note: Between 3 and 4 hours, it smells 95% like Scandal By Night before evolving into something even more floral.
Tabac Rose opens with a citrus and plum note with a hint of pink pepper; then the acidity gives way to a sweet, sparkling rose. The tobacco and chocolate are barely noticeable at first, but as it dries down, everything floats together creating a gorgeous and very wearable fragrance. It lasted 12 hours, projected well for 5 hours before settling into the skin. It’s magnificent, nothing like Oud Bouquet or anything else in my collection—I’m totally blown away. For me, it’s a 9/10.
I bought it blind in 10ml and was pleasantly surprised. The opening is sweet-fruity but vibrant and cheerful, with a slight citrus note that fades quickly. What I truly notice are the first few hours of dark plum with black chocolate, a hint of spice (not sure if tobacco or cinnamon), and a subtle floral touch that gives it a powdery edge. By the end (4-5 hours), the fruitiness disappears, leaving a sweet, spiced, and woody dry-down. It’s quite sweet but not cloying. Performance is excellent, and in moderate/cold temperatures, it never bothers me. It’s noticeable; in fact, I’ve gotten many compliments. Autumnal/winter and more of a night scent. I see it as dark, sexy, and seductive. Some might find it more feminine due to the sweetness and rose, but I think it adds personality and mystery to a man. 100% unisex for me. It doesn’t remind me of anything else; it’s quite unique and enjoyable. Another gem from BDK (there are already many).
I bought this fragrance blind in a 10 mL size, and honestly, it surprised me quite a bit. It has a sweet-fruitful but vibrant, cheerful opening, with a slightly citrusy touch on my skin that evaporates quickly. What I fundamentally perceive during the first few hours is a dark plum, with a coating of dark chocolate, a spicy point that I don’t know if it’s more tobacco or cinnamon, and a discrete but noticeable floral touch that gives the fragrance a powdery point. In the last hours of evolution (starting from 4-5 hours), on my skin, that fruity part is lost and a sweet, spicy, and woody dry down remains. It’s a fairly sweet perfume throughout its evolution, but it doesn’t cloy. With very good performance, but which never bothers me (at least in medium/cold temperatures). Now, it’s also not a perfume to go unnoticed… in fact, it has generated quite a few compliments. Autumnal/winter and more nocturnal than diurnal. I see it as a dark, sexy, seductive perfume. Some might find it more feminine than masculine due to the sweetness of the fragrance and the rose note… however, although I myself enjoy wearing it a lot, I think this fragrance would give a man personality and mystery. 100% unisex in my opinion. It doesn’t remind me excessively of any other I’ve tried. I see it as quite unique… and yet, pleasant. In short, another jewel from the BDK house (and there are already many).
Tabac Rose by BDK, like everything from the brand, seemed to me to be of great quality. It’s an aroma where plum, rose, tobacco, and patchouli in its base predominate, with important sweetness but not cloying and generally quite well-balanced. The rose, I think, is the great protagonist and has a duality where at times it’s more citrusy and other times darker and sweeter, both facets being quite pleasant. In the dry down, the tobacco shows a bit more, but the other notes are still appreciated. It’s a rich aroma, and if it’s true that it resembles Oud Bouquet by Lancome, but without that additional floral aspect to the rose. On the other hand, since it could be the niche version of Tobacco & Tonka Bean by Banana Republic due to the use of tobacco and plum, or a twist on the tobacco of Oud Satin Mood by MFK. Said all that, they are all perfumes with a fairly complex, suggestive profile and for cold climates. I also see it as very good for dates or special occasions, with excellent performance. I like it quite a bit; I think it deserves to be tested, and of what I’ve tried from BDK (special thanks to Gabriel Sánchez for facilitating the samples <3), it's one of the best. Note: 8/10.
BDK’s Tabac Rose delivers the quality you’d expect from the brand. Plum, rose, tobacco, and patchouli dominate the base; it’s sweet but not cloying and very well balanced. The rose is the star, with a dual nature: sometimes citrusy, other times dark and sweet, both facets are pleasant. As it dries down, the tobacco becomes more prominent, but the other notes remain. It’s a rich scent. Yes, it resembles Lancome’s Oud Bouquet, but without that extra floral touch on the rose. It could be the niche version of Banana Republic’s Tobacco & Tonka Bean due to the tobacco and plum, or a twist on the tobacco in MFK’s Oud Satin Mood. These are complex, suggestive perfumes perfect for cold weather. I see myself wearing it well for dates or special events, with top-tier performance. I really like it, it deserves to be tried, and out of everything I’ve sampled from BDK (thanks to Gabriel Sánchez for the samples <3), this is one of the best. Rating: 8/10.
I’ll start by saying they are cousin brothers to Rosé al Dae from Gallagher fragrances, although this one is less thick. In my opinion, the plum feels a lot in the dry down, mixed with chocolate and patchouli. It’s definitely a fragrance for cold climates; it’s a beast that can cause headaches and nausea if overapplied; it’s a very complex and interesting aroma, totally unisex, with beastly longevity. BDK should offer 30 ml formats because 100 ml is an exaggeration. If you like drunk rose, this must be in your collection, yes or yes.
They’re cousins to Gallagher’s Rosé, though this one is less thick. The plum really stands out as it dries, mixed with chocolate and patchouli. It’s perfect for cold climates; it’s a beast that can give you a headache or nausea if overapplied. Complex, interesting, totally unisex, and with beastly longevity. BDK should release 30ml sizes because 100ml is an exaggeration. If you like Drunk Rose, this is a must-have in your collection.
The lemon is very strong at the start. The rose is comforting, but that strong lemon gives me a thrill. Once the lemon settles, it smells like chocolate and tobacco. I didn’t notice plum, cinnamon, or patchouli; I suppose the cinnamon gets lost among the lemon, chocolate, and tobacco. If I force myself, I think I can smell cinnamon, but otherwise, it’s not noticeable. In the end, the powdery notes smell bitter to me. I think it’s the cinnamon. Once the bitterness settles, it turns into a pleasant sweet and powdery aroma. I was eager to love it, and it did. Great scent.
What a wonder this perfume is; when I smelled it, I knew it had to be in my collection. It’s a dense perfume in the opening; I notice the rose and the plum, a ripe plum, between sweet and acidic, along with the rose and a honeyed touch like pollen. This lasts for at least an hour and a half, where the subtle notes of cinnamon gradually emerge. After 3 hours, the best comes out; the chocolate shines, a dry chocolate, with the rose very, very subtle, soft, and extremely exquisite, and this is what, at least on my skin, is accentuated quite a bit. Touching on the topic of longevity, I applied it today to go to work at 11:00 am, and now, at 12:00 pm, I still smell the perfume on my arms, obviously bringing the nose close, but there it is, very present that rich chocolate that truly drives me crazy. The first 3 hours project one and a half arm lengths, then it stays at half an arm length, with quite good sillage. In short, I love it.
The lemon in the opening notes is very strong. The rose is comforting, but the strong lemon makes this aroma produce an ecstasy in me. Once the lemon settles, you get smells of chocolate and tobacco. I absolutely didn’t notice any plum, cinnamon, or patchouli. I suppose the cinnamon gets lost between the lemon, chocolate, and tobacco. If I force myself to notice, I suppose I can smell a little cinnamon, but otherwise, it’s not noticeable. Towards the end, the powdery notes begin to smell bitter to me. I think this could be due to the cinnamon. After the bitterness settles, it turns into a pleasant sweet and powdery aroma. I had so many desires to love it, and it happened. Great aroma.
What a marvel! The moment I smelled it, I knew it had to be in my collection. It’s dense at first; I notice the rose and a ripe plum, somewhere between sweet and tart, alongside a honeyed pollen-like touch. This lasts at least 1.5 hours, and gradually the subtle notes of cinnamon emerge. After 3 hours comes the best part: dry chocolate with a very subtle, soft, and exquisitely beautiful rose that really accentuates on my skin. I wore it at 11 am and still smelled it on my arms at 12 pm (bringing my nose close), with that rich chocolate making me crazy. It projects one and a half arm lengths for the first 3 hours, then half an arm length, with good sillage. All in all, I love it.
I have a sample and I’ve liked it a lot. Although I’m not sure if it’s unique enough to be part of my collection, as I perceive similarities with others I own. It’s an aroma that comes out somewhat citrusy, due to the lemon, although the first time I heard it, it seemed to smell like green tobacco leaves. It fixes with a very velvety, chocolatey rose and, of course, tobacco. Something sweet, but not cloying. Excellent performance.
If you like the smell of rose mixed with sweetness, this is your perfume; the rose predominates.
Well, it’s curious what happened to me with this fragrance… I loved it in the decant and thought it was a very singular rose perfume. A rose combined in such a way that even though you smell it at all times, everything around it makes you forget it, in a way. It was a fine French confit cake of rose and chocolate, my best explanation. But when I tested it on skin… everything changed and it went from being my favorite BDK and on my wishlist to leaving through the back door. On my skin, I smell exactly what I hate about the rose note: a hyperrealistic, astringent, and dominating rose. I didn’t like it at all. What a disappointment!
It’s a play. Light and melancholy walking hand in hand. An Edith Piaf song. The rest spoke about their notes.
My impression of Tabac Rose is peculiar. The curious thing is that breathing in this fragrance makes me feel like it’s an author’s perfume, even though it isn’t. To me, this liquid is very complex and develops in layers; in author perfumery, I think complexity and memory are highly sought after. It made me associate the scent of the opening with a good experience from some time ago… It’s a perfume I notice in the first 15 minutes, constantly evolving. The first thing I felt was a sharp hit of a “green rose” and a woody note of a very creamy, oily sweet lemon. Then the wrapped notes appear (like when you stir coffee with milk with a spoon and it takes on a single color). A mentholated chocolate accord emerges, could it be the patchouli? The pink pepper and plum… they fade and reappear as if they were part of the opening. This is absolute beauty, brutal and elegant at the same time. In the base, a fair tobacco emerges, neither harsh nor sweet, golden tobacco to my nose. A very creamy, pleasant, cinnamon-like labdanum, with an earthy patchouli and a very light mint nuance. Finally, this is my take on this great perfume: a freshly cut rose bathed with a squeezed mature lemon, while eating dark chocolate and then lighting a golden cigarette, all at once. As for longevity, projection, and sillage… I won’t say anything.
