Descripción

Frida's Thorns by Obvious is an oriental vanilla fragrance from the olfactive family, designed for men and women. This new scent, launched in 2024, was created by perfumer Julien Rasquinet. Its olfactive pyramid unfolds with raspberry and pear top notes; a heart of cacao, chocolate, and rose; and a woody, sweet base of patchouli and vanilla.

I’ve been obsessed with this for months which is why I’m reviewing it but beware: it’s not for everyone. Frida’s Thorns by Obvious is a rose that doesn’t seek to please; it seduces with thorns hides in the shadows and leaves a cocoa and patchouli trail that gets etched into your skin. At first there’s sweetness and a juicy rose that gradually turns gothic embraced by the darkness of chocolate cocoa and patchouli. It’s not fresh or romantic; it’s intense like a flower under black velvet with a touch of vanilla that balances everything. I love it! I wear it mostly for autumn or winter (though honestly it doesn’t matter it depends on you). The dark cocoa and chocolate blend with the patchouli adding richness. It’s mysterious strong and enveloping with great sillage and longevity of 8 to 10 hours on my skin. I wore it the other day and it lasted from 7 AM until past 3 PM. It’s not for everyone but those who understand it won’t forget it.

  • Dior! I went looking for that rose and those fruits listed but I stumbled upon something that caught me completely off guard. There are almost no reviews here and the only one I saw wasn’t tested on skin. On the blotter the rose is just a subtle background detail. What you actually smell is a movie theater: buttery popcorn almost like a cookie a mix of caramelized and salty popcorn. It’s as if the cinema and the popcorn merge in a single flash. The fragrance is unique; the roses are just ambient decor noticeable but not leading. Does it make sense? I don’t see a popcorn note in the list. I’m starting to doubt whether the store even showed me Frida’s Thorns or maybe another Obvious scent in that identical dark bottle.
