Descripción
Rouge Smoking Extrait by BDK Parfums is an oriental fragrance for men and women. This creation, launched in 2024, was designed by Amélie Bourgeois and Margaux Le Paih Guérin. Its top notes unfold with cherry, almond, pink pepper, red mandarin, and bergamot. The heart reveals a bouquet of Peruvian balsam, milk, tonka bean, and Spanish labdanum. Finally, the base notes settle on oud wood, rum, ambroxan, vanilla absolute, amber, patchouli, benzoin, and yellow cassia, also known as Siam cassia.

I thought it would be sweeter, but the opening is very sharp; in my opinion, it’s almost identical to the original Tom Ford Angel, though the cherry note comes through only at the very end. This lasts about the first hour. After that, it leaves a cloying aftertaste more similar to Baccarat Rouge than to cherry, honestly. If you’re looking for a lollipop-style cherry scent, this isn’t the option.
I tried it in April as a decant and fell in love instantly, added it to my wishlist. I ordered it in May and it arrived in June. I couldn’t be happier. Since it arrived, I haven’t stopped using it. It’s a super ambered, spicy dark cherry. Even though it’s not listed in the notes, it has a brutal saffron charge. The opening is dark cherry and saffron. As it dries, the other notes appear without taking away from the stars. Excellent longevity (8 hours), strong projection at the start. It lasts on clothes until washing and sometimes longer. It doesn’t resemble the classic Rouge Smoking. I have both: the EDP is inoffensive and vanilla-based, while this has character and screams: HERE I AM! 🔥
I always saw the classic Rouge Smoking as an innocent sweet cherry and vanilla scent, perfect for dipping your toes into niche without risk. But the Extrait is a different story: to my nose, it has very little to do with the original. It’s smoked, woody, dark cherry with a milky touch. It feels super complex and distinct; it reminds me a bit of Sirene (one reminds me of the other without being identical), that vibe of dark balsamic cherry, slightly milky but not creamy. It’s hard to explain. If you like the classic, don’t buy it blindly thinking it’s a safe bet, because you might not like it as much as I do; I can’t stand wearing it at certain times.
Instant love! Finally, I like a perfume with cherry. I’ve been looking for this note for months and couldn’t find anything. Not being a fan of fruity scents, I only remembered artificial, harsh candies. Here, nothing goes wrong. Rouge Smoking isn’t a cherry perfume, but one WITH cherry, and that’s the key. The opening has a subtle, playful, sexy cherry touch, without being sweetened or sounding childish. It’s adult, dark, and provocative. Alongside the cherry, there’s lots of resin making it dense and creamy, with sweet notes that balance it out. I’m hugely surprised. It’s the second BDK I’ve bought and it’s now my favorite. Versatility is non-existent; it’s for cold nights. That limitation is a handicap, but I give a damn. It’s absolutely worth it.
I tried this perfume in a decant in April and fell in love at first sight, so I ordered it and already had it in June. I couldn’t be happier. I use it non-stop since it arrived. It smells like super ambered, spiced dark cherry; although saffron isn’t listed in the notes, it has a brutal saffron presence. The opening is exactly that: cherry and saffron. As it dries, the other notes appear without taking away from the stars. Excellent longevity (8 hours), strong projection at first and leaves a mark on clothes until washing, and sometimes more. Nothing like the classic Rouge Smoking. I have both and the EDP is super innocent and vanilla, but this has character and screams: HERE I AM! 🔥
Love at first sight! Finally, I found a cherry perfume I absolutely adore. I’ve been searching for months to add one to my collection and couldn’t find anything. Not being a fan of fruits in general, smelling cherries always reminded me of those artificial, harsh candies. But here, nothing like that happens. I think I know why: Rouge Smoking isn’t a cherry perfume, but a perfume WITH cherry, and that’s the key. Although I notice a certain cherried touch in the opening, it’s not prominent or obvious. It’s a subtle detail that adds a playful and sexy vibe without sweetening it or turning it into a repulsive candy or a childish scent. Quite the opposite: it’s an adult, dark, and very provocative aroma. Alongside the cherry, there’s lots of resin that makes it feel dense, creamy, and sweet notes that provide balance. I was hugely surprised. I’ve tried almost all BDK perfumes and this is the second one I’m buying from the house; it’s definitely becoming my favorite. That said, in terms of versatility, I’m a sumo wrestler. It’s a scent created for night and cold nights. That limitation is a handicap, but I don’t give a damn. It’s absolutely worth it.
I’ll just say it’s wonderful. One spray covers you for the whole day. I adore it, it’s my scent. I don’t know if it’s the ambroxan, but it smells like me.
A beautiful fragrance. Since it’s an extrait, the longevity is incredible; I could still smell it the day after showering. Of the three extraits, this is the best: dark cherry and brandy, everything very well balanced. Dries down super creamy, projects a lot, with saffron and oud wood in the dry down. My favorite BDK scent so far.
A beautiful scent. Being an extrait, the fixative is incredible; even the day after showering, I could still smell it. Of the three extracts, so far it’s the best. It smells like dark cherry and liqueur, with a perfect balance between notes. The dry down is super creamy, projects a ton, and has saffron in the base alongside oud wood. It’s my favorite from BDK so far.
It’s a super approachable niche scent, nothing challenging. I’ve smelled more natural cherries, but here I prefer that creamy, smoky, almond note with a milky touch and vanilla base. It’s unique; the cherry, which didn’t initially appeal to me, is perfect. Best purchase in a long time. Totally unisex and I recommend it 100%.
