Salamanca was a total surprise. Looking at the notes, it didn’t call to me much, but I decided to try it based on reviews and… voilá! In the end, I bought the whole bottle, even though when I smelled the sample, it seemed horrible. Salamanca is a proper gentleman of a perfume. It’s based on leather, the central note that gives it power and longevity. There’s also hay and vetiver in high doses, giving it a green, earthy touch, plus an interesting balsamic and smoky base. The periwinkle is noticeable, adding a dry floral point that sets it apart from other greens. Finally, the seaweed—an unexpected note that gives it a marine touch, without being fresh, oceanic, or aquatic; it simply has a slight sea scent. The performance is incredible: it lasts all day, and if you don’t shower, some of it lingers into the next. On clothes, it’s eternal. I see it for daytime wear in moderate to cool temperatures. Totally unisex. Scent: 10, Longevity: 10, Sillage: 8, Versatility: 8, Originality: 10, Overall: 10.
This perfume is a whole experience. Words can’t say more than what’s already written in the notes. It smells of very old, aged leather—not animal, but stored in a damp, gloomy place. It has an interesting smoky touch. The vetiver gives it a dry tone, and I detect nothing green here. If you know Salamanca or transport yourself to centuries past, this is a very representative scent of that era. It’s perfectly named. For people who like dark, personality-driven perfumes, this will be a total love. It’s gothic, truly gothic. Great performance; even if it’s not one of the biggest niche bombs, at the price it sells for, what it offers in performance is beastly.
As others have said: Salamanca is an experience. It’s a niche scent everywhere, an author’s work that avoids the conventional. At first, if you’re not familiar with it, you might not even identify it as perfume. The opening isn’t abrupt but immediately evokes leather, deepening in tone like sword belts or the worn harnesses of old cavalry. This note doesn’t disappear; it evolves and blends with a marvel of clay I can’t explain—it smells like wet kaolin, like those large garden urns after the rain, or the taste of fasa, that edible clay from the Andes. There’s a strong, intense mimosa that gives character to a composition that isn’t sweet, but rather green, dry, and with a slightly bitter base. If you’ve read this far, you might think it’s not worth it, but it’s a fantastic fragrance. It artistically recreates dry grass, leather, and sun-cracked stones from a quintessentially Spanish summer. It’s long-lasting, with elegant projection, and requires some acquired taste; once you let it in gradually, it’s hard to put down. Highly recommended to try.
