This perfume is wild. The accord of notes gives off a damp scent. And yes, when I first wore it, my mom said I smelled like dampness, a cave, a swamp, moss, bushes, and fog. And it stays that way, like a mist or an ecosystem surrounding you. When it settles, the leather comes out, bitter and damp. To me, it’s a delicious, interesting, contemplative scent. This aroma invites introspection. It’s a ritualistic perfume. Yes, it’s very rare. Hard to get compliments for it. But if you like exotic, different, rare perfumes, you’ll be fascinated.
It works with Kike. It’s dark, green, damp, and smoky. Even though they don’t list it, what really grabs me is that smoky touch (maybe the oud or leather) floating over everything, with a base that smells of dampness, a cave, wet leaves. The first time I smelled it, an image came to mind, and now every time I wear it, I can’t help but see it again: imagine walking through a forest after a storm that’s lasted days, everything dripping with water and the sky still overcast, like it’s about to rain again. You reach a clearing, the wind has scattered the leaves, you touch a tree trunk and your hands get wet and blackened by the damp wood, the ground is full of mud, half-rotten leaves, and water, and suddenly you notice the smell of green, water, moss, mixing with smoky wood, wet soot, and then you spot the remains of a fire. That’s what Last Season smells like.
Last Season is a work of art, the kind of perfume that will blow your mind if you’ve already dipped your toes into niche perfumery, just like I did with Tauer’s Air du Désert Marocain. These are scents that transport you to the perfumer’s imagination and convey a specific idea or sensation. To simplify, it smells like a dark, green, damp, and cold forest—like the one in Sweden that inspired it—as if you just extinguished a campfire after a storm. This gives it a smoky, dark vibe. The main notes are Oakmoss, Leather, Oud, Vetiver, Birch Tar, and Incense; super dense and dark notes. Projection and sillage range from moderate to high depending on application, longevity is great (over 10 hours on skin), and the price is a bit steep, but you have to consider you’re getting 100ml. This is for those who want to take a step beyond commercial niche; it’s a collector’s piece.
Last Season doesn’t smell like a forest; it smells like a jungle, that salty estuary. The seaweed gives it a marine touch, as if you’re in an adventure spot where strange animals lurk in the shadows, in brackish, muddy waters untouched by humans. It smells like a salty cave, animalistic, and completely alien to man.
