The top notes unfold with narcissus, datura, peach, plum, Himalayan blue poppy, mandarin, blackcurrant, bergamot, and green notes. The heart reveals mimosa, vanilla flower, neroli, ylang-ylang, orange blossom, jasmine, freesia, heliotrope, rose, and leather. The base notes close the pyramid with vanilla, orange blossom, amber, tonka bean, musk, and cedar.

  • My mom used to wear this perfume in the nineties, and I find it very delicious. I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I agree it’s a scent between apricots, liquor, and amber. When I was little, smelling it made me feel like candied grapes for some reason.

  • I love Poême; it has everything I like in a floral: intoxicating, sweet, intense, with a fixation and trail that don’t disappoint. I decided to look for the vintage version (the redder the liquid, the better). The current one isn’t bad, but it leans more floral and is a bit more synthetic. In contrast, the first formula lets the fruits shine quite a bit, with the vanilla and mimosa better balanced. Poême opens with juicy plum, apricot, tangerine, and blackcurrants. I struggle to find the narcissus amidst the fruit explosion, but it gradually emerges. As it settles on the skin, the white flowers take the spotlight. The mimosa is clear and bold, front and center. The neroli with vanilla gives it a sensual yet playful touch. The ylang-ylang and orange blossom intertwine well with mimosa and neroli. It’s ambered, sweet like honey, floral with advanced fruity notes. There’s a certain connection to Classique (floral winks), but the anise, the spicy ginger, and the cinnamon-like earthiness in Gaultier make it too seductive and relentless, like ‘Femme Fatale’. Poême is intense but prefers a more romantic side and isn’t as seductive. Fixation and trail are atomic; you need to apply it carefully. Like Classique, they are polarizing; not everyone likes them, so proceed with caution, but if you enjoy one, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy the other.

  • Well, I bought this perfume but honestly, it’s very strong. In my opinion, you only need to apply a little bit because it makes me nauseous. It wasn’t a perfume that blew my mind.

I fell in love with POême when I was 12 years old over a miniature; several decades have passed and my love remains intact. 🧡 Despite the reformulations, it remains a perfect blend of flowers, vanilla, and peach 👌. It’s a scent that can never be missing in my vanity. A magnet for compliments every time I wear it. An elegant and sexy classic that fits very well in today’s world.

Poême, a memory of university. A beautiful love poem, passionate and Parisian. I’ve smelled French perfumes, but this one is so Parisian, so sophisticated and cheerful that it transports me to happy moments. I love its warmth, its timelessness, its tender and passionate embrace. It’s an explosion of mimosa at the start with vanilla, that warm vanilla that gives heat, exquisite, a feeling of well-being and comfort. A great masterpiece, a classic that never goes out of style, precious. Despite reformulations and imitations, it remains of brutal quality and unique. Nothing is like this poem of love and passion.

I bought it over 10 years ago and its scent is still persistent. Although it’s pleasant and sweet, I’d summarize it as very powdery and very yellow. It’s not bad, but it falls into that gap where I feel like I’m wearing spa talcs instead of perfume. The scent is nice but doesn’t quite please me; it feels a bit overwhelming. I wouldn’t buy it again and it won’t be my favorite.

  • It’s crazy how long it lasts on the skin. It is a bit matronly, but since it has so many flowers, it doesn’t look weird if someone in their 30s wears it. It’s not trendy, but if you like the flowers it has, you’ll enjoy it and people will compliment you.

  • In my opinion, it is the women’s perfume with the best performance, trail, and longevity, although it is extremely matronly. Poême is where the florals dominate, which in my view drowns out the other notes. I believe it is a fragrance for an age of 50+.

  • Carlaelena

I had it many years ago; I felt a quite floral scent, a bit soapy and clean, with plenty of sillage and incredible longevity. A feminine perfume, for a dreamy and romantic woman.

  • Karen Campos

I love it and it inspires me. This scent marked a before and after in my preferences, which used to be sweet and gourmand. Poême taught me to appreciate flowers; it helped me mature. It smells like a blend of white and yellow florals that I can’t distinguish individually, but combined they are perfect. It has a sweet base of vanilla and tonka bean, yet nothing gourmand; it’s powdery, giving it an adult, refined, and classy touch. It’s a wonderful talc. It makes me smell like a distinguished, delicate woman. It lasts incredibly long, like all Lancôme perfumes, and has that trail that comes and goes, suddenly subtle and then very present. It has become a jewel in my collection and I’ll always keep it. It’s expensive, but I got it 30% off and I think it’s worth it. I recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy a floral scent.

  • Poème by Lancôme is a super classic fragrance that I think never goes out of style, as its beauty and olfactory quality are far superior to many creations today. Many highlight the yellow flowers like mimosa; if I had to give Poème a color, it would be bright yellow. Ylang and neroli are part of that very subtle and sensual bouquet of white flowers. A super well-structured base where the flowers mingle with musks and the beautiful amber note.

  • VainillaDulce

Poeme literally wears and lives up to its name with pride; this perfume is poetry for the senses, a classic beauty perfectly detailed, quite literally dream powder. It saw the light in the last millennium, in 1995, where amidst the atomic bombs of the time, Poeme stood tall without losing a drop of its charm. Here lies a gorgeous peach-melton exit alongside a ripe plum and a sweet mandarin that give way to a magnificent bouquet of radiant flowers: mimosa, narcissus, neroli, jasmine, and ylang-ylang. White and yellow petals stand out, embraced by an unmistakable vanilla, a warm amber, and an elegant cedar wood. Poeme is a perfume for elegant dresses with simple, immaculate cuts, sober, tender, yet at the same time incredibly distant. It’s that fragrance that stands out without overwhelming anyone, simply catching your attention and leaving you absorbed. Here you’ll find a wonderful yellow floral fragrance with very prominent white nuances, dusty, vanilla, and fruity hints, backed by a wood note that steps back but is always detectable. Sillage and longevity are quite noticeable.

  • I already knew what it was the moment I smelled it today. A familiar scent, totally 90s, like my older sisters’ friends, like going to a winter movie wrapped in a scarf for a 1995 romantic premiere… I find it interesting but it’s not for me; ultimately, there’s a note that disappoints me. Just enough to make it unattractive, perhaps something dental (mouthwash, classic, I don’t know) and a touch of conventional honeyed, sharp cologne. Also, a sharp hit of Nelly nail polish. But at the start and in the heart notes, it had something precious and familiar. This gradually turned into a feeling of zero surprise and the regret of knowing I’d get tired of it soon. But to save Poeme, I praise its ease in evoking a moment or scene. Perfumes need to frame memories; it’s part of their charm. Edited a few days later: dry down leaves a deep, familiar, comfortable, peaceful, very pleasant scent after several days, and I wish it had stayed that way from the beginning. A clean, sunlit powder room.

  • I bought it for its reputation and because seeing it in my country over the years felt like finding a unicorn. I feared it might be another 90s fragrance with notes competing for attention, but no. Fortunately, from the start its scent dispelled my doubts and made me happy to finally try it. It’s a delight; I smell yellow and white flowers, a creamy texture, a honeyed, vanilla, and amber touch, with lots of warmth. Plus, it performs excellently, lasting at least 8 hours. I love it.

  • Izumi Curtis

Hi, does anyone know if they reformulated it? I just bought it, but for some reason, it doesn’t smell exactly like what I remember. Now it feels softer, almost shy, nothing like that powerful, honeyed opening from the 90s.

  • To my nose, it’s a perfect mix between Classique by Gaultier and Amarige by Givenchy. A delight if you love creamy 90s fragrances with a thousand notes.

  • As the name suggests, it’s a poem: a blend of sweet, soft, and velvety scents. It smells like sweet vanilla, peach, and very sweet flowers, all warm and full-bodied, perfect for cold weather. It’s an aroma that, once it gets on me, makes me dream and evoke memories—something I so much seek in a perfume: capturing moments that return when I smell its magnificent scent.

  • Maky'zarty

I tried it on a mini and it seemed quite distinguished, strong, and potent. The vanilla and florals really stand out; it feels creamy. It doesn’t smell bad, but I wouldn’t buy a full bottle; I think my tastes are less refined. I’ve never seen negative reviews for fine fragrances, but for me, who prefers celebrity scents, this isn’t for me.

  • Poeme by Lancôme is an absolute delight. Sensual, fruity, and temptingly addictive, with that truly Parisian touch we rarely see anymore. It feels like today we don’t make perfumes as elaborate, complex, and perfect as this one.

  • Mr. Baskerville

Some say Poeme hasn’t aged well. Some reviews explain my take: it’s loved by the general public but denounced by professional critics who call it strident, synthetic, and outdated, although it has a good base. Personally, I feel it revolves around a combo of orange blossom and neroli highlighted by a creamy vanilla, supported by musk and amber. I don’t identify the rest of the notes well, except for the fruity opening with blackcurrants that sometimes bother me. It has notable projection and longevity. I think it’s a good fragrance, but I warn you it’s not for those who don’t like flowers. Be careful with the sprays; they can be quite irritating. It’s true that it’s hard to imagine a young user wearing this, but whoever has the personality to pull it off will look great.

  • Simply exquisite. A fragrance so feminine and pleasant, one of the best in my collection, it’s in my top 5. It’s hard to find and in Argentina it’s very expensive, but it’s worth every penny. It makes you feel like a sweet, soft woman, like ladies of old. Beautiful.

  • Rochi Martinez

It’s one of my signature scents. I discovered it in 2015 and fell in love; it works great for mature women as well as young ones. It’s a masterpiece. Congratulations to the creators of this beauty and to the beautiful brand Lancôme.

  • I just received a bottle and remembered it as a 90s icon. Without a doubt, it was always the perfume of an elegant, refined lady. I struggle to define 90s perfumes with current terms because I feel they don’t do them justice. Although they are linear like Poeme, they are very complex in their accords and pairings. It’s floral, but impossible to identify a single note blind because none stands out on its own; they function as a whole. Its longevity is monstrous: there are no commercial perfumes today with that fixation, trail, and duration. Literally, with two soft sprays, it lasted until the day after my shower. On clothes, it lasts until the next wash. Conclusion: it’s a PERFUME in capital letters. I recommend trying it before because it’s strong and can tire you out or give you a headache. It’s pleasant, but not for everyone. Wish we had perfumes like this today. Without a doubt, it has the name well-earned: it’s a true poem from the industry.

  • This classic is the most intense perfume I’ve ever bought. Longevity is its greatest strength. It’s complex and intense; I almost never wear it as it requires a very special occasion; it’s too potent for daytime and also for night. Its identity is unmistakable.

  • Benjamin Alamo - 1389

One of my mother’s signature scents, alongside Amarige. But we always agree that Poeme brings something special that sets it apart from all the 90s launches. This is the best, unique, brilliant, yellow scent with just the right amount of sweetness. What a pity it hasn’t reached Argentina in a few years; don’t miss the opportunity because this is the great gem.

  • This is an absolute masterpiece. I’m scared they might discontinue it, so I bought a 100ml bottle; with its longevity and intensity, I’ll be wearing it for 10 years. I use it in autumn and winter, though on some fresh spring days, I’ve really craved to wear it. It’s a super-vanillated yellow floral. Nowadays, I can’t find perfumes like this, so keep that trail and make it last all day. It’s a gem.

  • Perla Vencis

A classic that remains evergreen. While it has been compared to others, nothing matches Poeme. The name fits perfectly: it’s a poem on my skin. The liquid captures everything beautifully. I can’t pinpoint which accord stands out the most, but Jacques Cavallier achieves a perfect blend of fruits and yellow flowers (peach, tangerine, bergamot, mimosa, vanilla, neroli, ylang-ylang, and orange blossom). In the dry-down, there’s plenty of amber, vanilla, leather, wood, and habanone. It goes well with all seasons, though I reserve it for formal occasions; I don’t wear it for daily life, but rather for special events. It has great longevity, staying tattooed on the skin for hours with that addictive, discreet fruity-floral-talcous aroma.

  • Benjamin Alamo - 1389

I dare say this is the king of the 90s—a classic, sweet, and natural scent that truly hooks you. It opens with a bomb of peach and yellow flowers, accompanied by its own distinct sweetness that lingers until the very end. The neroli and orange blossom blend seamlessly, drying down to a talc-like, floral, and amber finish. Ideal for winter or autumn nights; in spring, it can be a bit too heavy. It lasts over 15 hours and projects like few others today, plus it smells glorious. I don’t know if they’ll pull it from the market because it’s so hard to find, but the quality is guaranteed.

Hello, dear perfume lovers, I just tried this wonder; I left the perfumerie 10 minutes ago and had to sit in a café to process the experience of falling in love with this beauty. The comments do it full justice; it smells like paradise, ultra-feminine, elegant, strong, and yet delicate due to how intensely floral it is. It’s been a long time since something like this happened to me, even though I constantly try perfumes; this was special. I don’t know how long it will last; the comments make me think it’s a lot. I’m usually not impulsive when buying perfumes because I’m often disappointed by the longevity, but I was about to do it. I sprayed it on a blotter and it has me hypnotized. The best floral I’ve ever smelled in my life; it’s definitely the perfume of a bride getting married in a garden or a forest.

  • Well, since I keep sniffing around stores, I decided to look for this perfume again. I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but they just don’t make perfumes like this anymore. I have to say that. I see a lot of artificiality in commercial perfumery; some seem like fruit body splashes, others seem like copies of those… in short. It’s a perfume with all the letters, period.

  • sofiaarmellino

Beautiful, I’ve never smelled anything like it. It was love at first sight; I chose it as a birthday gift and was very intrigued and doubtful about whether it was a good decision to order it, since I’d never smelled it before and was afraid I wouldn’t like it or it would be too much, mostly because people say it’s more for adult women and I’m in my twenties. But it’s delicious, feminine, and powerful. As soon as I sprayed the first time, the whole place filled up; it feels so rich, sweet but not cloying. The opening is very fruity, I smell peach above all, and as it dries down, it feels like an incredibly rich vanilla, not cloying at all. I also smell neroli and mimosa (honestly, there are many aromas I can’t distinguish, but those were the ones I felt most). I tested it yesterday at 9 PM, and today at 10 AM, I could still smell the mimosa on my arm; it’s incredible how long it lasts. If you’re on the fence about buying it blind, go for it; it’s delicious, and for me, it doesn’t resemble any other perfume. Beautiful.

  • Feaganciasqueenamoran

After many years, I bought it again. While it’s still a rich perfume, a fragrance distinct from what’s used today, it has lost some intensity and seems to have become ‘shy’. It’s hard to find in Argentina. Make sure it’s original and pay a high price, over $200. The same happened to two fragrances I love: Magie Noire also by Lancôme and Junte by Kenzo, both transformed into cute kittens after being magnificent long-maned lions. I think perfumes accompany society; in a ‘light’ society, perfumes are too. And this beautiful fragrance, Poême, is now a nice perfume, different, but without the surprises that made it memorable.

  • rodrigo1995

Incredible longevity on my skin. It lasts a long time, over 10 hours, and even after 10 hours, you can still perceive it in bursts while you move. My skin might have matched with it. It might be a bit overwhelming for some noses. The bottle is beautiful and gives off a lovely floral vibe. It’s a bit pricey, and given the cost, it hurts to use it as a daily perfume. It was launched in the year of my birth. Love.

  • jerry drake

Love is a ‘Poeme’. Do you know the difference between falling in love and already being in love? Exactly, because maybe there isn’t one. Falling in love is a strange sensation, like jumping into the unknown without ever landing. A constant feeling of lightness, total harmony, and freedom that makes you breathe deeply. Sure, not having a destination can be disturbing, but how beautiful is it to fly, knowing two people can do it together? Especially if the person in question is a perfectly coordinated ensemble reflecting beauty, intelligence, modernity, care, and affection in equal measure, completed with a wonderful smile. And now no one can stop me from flying so high. For all this, I’m going to gift you this wonderfully dazzling, exuberant train of flowers that, like you, has captivated me completely—sensitive and dreamy, yet independent and strong at the same time. Poême is truly a peacock’s wheel of orange fruits and flowers, iridescent, proud, and beautiful; it doesn’t hold back its charms and reveals itself completely in all facets and in grand style. Almost all flowers that can be used in a perfume are here: present, conscious, and confident: jasmine, angel’s trumpet, neroli, and ylang-ylang, strong feminine creatures, each with its own character. Add to this a festival of fruits and a slightly sweet forest… and miraculously, you’ll realize it’s never too much. The poem is opulent and powerful, full of softness, sensitive and dreamy, feminine and floral, but sometimes a bit shy, like a star that fades and then shines intensely again before sinking. A fragrance with so much to tell: about happiness, longing, and the fear of losing everything. Of white flowers, sweet fruits, and ylang-ylang. Of the 90s in all its terrible beauty. About life and being a woman: lioness and sensitive, devoted and fearless in loving. And that we are all stardust. You know I’ll wait for you as long as it takes. Nothing will happen if you don’t want it, and I would do anything to have you always. Maybe one night, for an instant, everything will change and you’ll be the only one: my Poême.

  • Villa Caligari

Lancôme Poême: the perfume of a past era, the glory of the 90s, but experiencing it feels timeless, distant, present, and futuristic. Poême has no age or era, because it’s a poem for women of all times. Poême is an elixir, as if an angel had captured its voice in a bottle. Poême is liquid gold, crafted by magical fairies in a forest at dusk. A floral bouquet, elegant, unpretentious, and powerful. Poême is the concentration of all flowers inside a bottle, bathed in the pulp of all fruits. Poême is a valley, a forest, a lake, and a mountain. It’s like capturing the essence of the most fragrant spring afternoon that ever existed on the planet at its purest moment. Yellow flowers, followed by white flowers, fruits, and woods. Natural. Realistic. A whole poem, a poem for women. This perfume must touch the skin. I recommend spraying it on the body before dressing, after a relaxing hot shower. After applying body lotion, spray it on the legs, shoulders, ribs, and waist. Dare to apply it on your feet too, to walk calmly and dreamily.

  • That characteristic yellow flower note from the 90s is almost gone in new designs. Now it’s all vanilla and pear; zero originality. It’s boring. They could make anything for every taste. But no, everyone and everything has to smell the same.

  • Poême is beauty without pretension, sweetness without sentimentality, and elegance without distance. Its floral notes are one hundred percent nineties style, when sumptuous, excessively sweet, and spiced perfumes were invading us in droves. However, Poême stands out because it contains many of those notes but harmoniously softened by a dry, green note that accompanies it wonderfully. It’s a perfume that can be worn any time of year or stage of life, though I see it as more suitable for a woman of middle age. On a mature woman’s skin, I think it becomes spicier and more intimate. It’s a perfume of classic beauty, and like all classic beauty, it’s timeless.

  • LuxemFerre

I tried it last week on my skin at a Lancôme counter in my city, and honestly, it has nothing to envy from Expression de Esika. They share an almost identical DNA, maybe even closer, but the sillage is noticeably different. Poême lasts a bit longer, but if you’re looking for a good, pretty, and affordable alternative to rotate, Expression de Esika is definitely the option.
