Pleasures For Men

Descripción
Pleasures For Men by Estée Lauder is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men. Launched in 1997, this composition was created by Pierre Wargnye, Carlos Benaïm, and Jean-Claude Delville. The opening unfolds a fresh effervescence with top notes of grapefruit, nectarine, aquatic accents, and greenery. The heart reveals a complex harmony of lavender, pepper, rose, geranium, ginger, allspice, and coriander. To close, the base settles on a warm, woody foundation of ebony wood, oakmoss, sandalwood, and benzoin.

A rich, fresh, herbal, sweet, and woody scent. It reminds me of Davidoff’s Cool Water; checking English comments, I found the same opinion. I recommend it for daily use in any season. Don’t overapply.
Of the three Estee Lauder fragrances I’ve tried (Lauder and Intuition are the others), Pleasures has given me the least ‘pleasure’. It’s not very bad, but it’s very similar to others (as @saul alfaro mentions, one is Cool Water and another reminds me of Dolce Gabbana Pour Homme). For me, it’s more woody-aquatic than spicy. The opening is soapy and citrusy, even giving a laundry detergent sensation, so you associate it with cleanliness. After a few hours, it becomes more musky, although that note isn’t listed. Being light, I see it as ideal for spring and summer in many situations, as it doesn’t offend. Longevity barely reaches 6 hours. If you like Cool Water or D&G, you’ll surely like this; if not, it’s just another one in the bunch.
Years ago, while rummaging through my dad’s closet, he gifted me a pristine bottle of Pleasures. The first impression was deceptive: it seemed pleasant at first, but then it turned into a nightmare. It clings to the skin like a chain, unpleasant. It’s not sweet or fresh; it smells like floor cleaner misapplied on an old bus. Not only did I notice it, but everyone kept asking if I’d showered with the product. Conversations went from ‘Did you put on perfume?’ to confirming I smelled bad. One evening, an aunt told me, ‘Please don’t wear that, it smells terrible.’ I said I’d return it because it didn’t suit my skin and I hated smelling like a dirty bus terminal. Ten years later, that stinky bottle is still there, wrapped in its plastic, waiting for some brave soul to try it again.
A long time ago, while rummaging through my father’s closet, he gifted me a small collection of fragrances, including an impeccable Pleasures. The first impression is deceptive: it seems pleasant, but then it turns into a torture. It’s a sticky chain clinging to the skin that’s very unpleasant. It’s not very sweet or fresh, but a common smell, like floor cleaner misapplied on a run-down bus (in Mexico, we call it ‘fabulous’). Not only did I notice it; everyone asked if I had bathed with cleaner. The conversation went from ‘Did you put on perfume?’ to confirming I smelled bad. A close aunt told me: ‘please, don’t use that perfume, it smells terrible’. I returned it to my father saying I didn’t like it, that it didn’t suit my skin type, and that I hated smelling like a poorly cleaned bus terminal. Today, almost 10 years later, it’s still there, that tiny stinky bottle, still with its cellophane, waiting for a brave soul for another attempt.
A very good fragrance, not overhyped, but with low longevity.
A rich and very soft scent.
There are moments in a man’s life when you don’t know what to do, like when you get flowers in public. At first, I thought this scent would be the same, but it has hidden flowers that don’t make it look like a bouquet. Citrus, fresh, and fruity notes appear quickly, keeping it masculine. Then come spicy touches, especially coriander, with a bitter oakmoss and warm woods. Everything is very balanced, airy, and transparent, like a sky-air accord. There’s a slight hay note that lingers and lasts quite a while, well-coordinated and a delight for the nose. Nothing stands out; every ingredient is integrated. It reminds me of a D&G Pour Homme with an added ozonic-aquatic part. You don’t need to spend a fortune; there are excellent aromas with a modest price that have nothing to envy the expensive ones. Approved.
I bought a 2005 batch last week and wore it today to go out on the street (I live in Acapulco), and what a delight. At least this batch is potent; you can really smell the fragrance. It’s a treat 😍.
Excellent citrus fragrance. It’s not Cool Water; this one has less sweetness and feels fresher than aquatic. Perfect for the gym, after the beach, or the pool. If you need a citrus scent that lasts at least 5 hours on the skin for outdoor activities, this is the choice. Very pleasant, doesn’t smell like cleaner, although it has that clean soapy facet. Fresh and light. It gives me the sensation of neroli, even though it’s not listed.
