It’s a rich scent with feminine touches, soft and elegant. The only downside is that it doesn’t project much; it stays as a second skin. I imagine wearing it in bed before sleep on a cold winter night; the blend of cinnamon, rose, and honeyed patchouli gives a warm, calming hug. It also works well for intimate moments with your partner, without being overwhelming or distracting.

  • At first, I notice a wet, earthy, slightly herbal patchouli. My nose misses the citrus, but soon the spices come through, especially the cinnamon, with a very light, smoky rose note. That smoke, which I didn’t like in Margiela’s By the Fireplace, feels cozy here instead. It’s potent at the start, then softens and sweetens a bit. Patchouli Imperial is soft, elegant, warm, and very wearable—unisex. It doesn’t have the weight of other perfumes with this note, making it tolerable for anyone who likes woody scents. Compared to Coromandel, it’s earthier, less sweet, and lighter. Its signature is that smoky base. Moderate sillage and lasts about 7-8 hours. While both are elegant, given the price, I’d struggle to buy a full bottle, just like with Coromandel. I like the scent of both, but I’m sticking with Coromandel for its sparkling citrus opening and sweetness. Scent 7/10, Longevity 7.5/10, Sillage 6/10, Value 5/10, Versatility 7.5/10, Packaging 7/10. Would I buy again? No, I didn’t.

  • At first, it smells like wet, earthy patchouli with a hint of herbal notes. The citrus notes escape me, but soon the spices kick in (mostly cinnamon) with a tiny touch of rose and lots of smoke, which feels cozy rather than weird to me here. It’s super potent at the start, then softens and sweetens a bit. The result is soft, elegant, and warm—very wearable and unisex. It lacks the heaviness of other patchoulis, making it tolerable for anyone who likes woody scents. Compared to Coromandel, it’s earthier, less sweet, and lighter. Its signature is that smoky base. Moderate sillage and 7-8 hours longevity. While both are elegant, like with Coromandel, I’d struggle to justify buying a full bottle given the price. Scent 7/10, Longevity 7.5/10, Sillage 6/10, Value 5/10, Versatility 7.5/10, Packaging 7/10. Would I buy again? No, I didn’t.

Just finished a 125ml bottle of Patchouli Imperial, and on my skin it was a fifty-fifty. It’s a super green, overly smoky, and mature patchouli. It seems like Patchouli Imperial and Amber Nuit share a base but evolve differently over time. It’s not sweet; it’s bitter and super earthy. I don’t detect any florals, spices, or fruits; they’re there, but the patchouli and smoke are so strong that I can’t perceive the rest. Yes, it’s elegant and lovely, but I’m not repurchasing. I’m sticking with the patchouli from Coromandel. One downside: although it seems powerful for the first 15 minutes, it doesn’t last long—about 5 hours, and then it fades to skin scent for maybe another hour. I feel more comfortable with other patchoulis, but if you’re into them, it’s a must-try.
