The first time I smelled it, I was blown away. It smells exactly like a pharmacy. Maybe it’s the musk or the hawthorn flower. It’s a clean medicinal scent, but with a dirty, creamy touch like white chocolate and dusty sandalwood. It’s neutral and weird at the same time, almost aquatic but closed off. It reminds me of old pharmacies full of tiles, where decades of aseptic aromas mix with excipient dust.
Indeed, it’s patchouli and sandalwood in a dusty, toffee frame. It’s elegant for mature men and women, though I think it suits men more. It’s not loud and leaves a very pleasant trail, ideal for the office if you want it. Not for hot weather.
By modern standards, this perfume is a bold flanker for our times. It takes patchouli and sandalwood in equal parts, creating a fierce competition to come out, very good for whoever wears it. You can smell the star anise like an old balm, and the amber adds creaminess among powdery flowers. Good longevity and sillage, lasts several days on clothes. I love mixing it with Jean Paul Gaultier’s Scandal or wearing it alone any time of year.
