  • A couple of months ago, I bought the sample set hoping they’d capture the palo santo scent. Wish they had, because it smells the opposite: too sweet and cloying after half an hour. The rest of the brand’s perfumes are run-of-the-mill, nothing to highlight. They don’t seem like niche fragrances, even though you’re paying 90 euros for 50 ml.

  • I bought the sample set two months ago hoping they’d capture the palo santo aroma. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with it. It smells too sweet and is cloying after half an hour. The rest of the brand’s perfumes are run-of-the-mill, nothing to highlight. They don’t seem like niche fragrances, even though you’re paying 90 euros for 50 ml.

  • Bought it by name; Palo Santo seduced me, but in the store I loved it, and the next day it felt overwhelming. It became suffocating very quickly. I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it, but I can’t handle it. It might work for others, but not for me. Sorry.

  • An original work by Carner where combining milk, rum, tonka, and vanilla creates a caramelized, sweet, and boozy homogeneous blend, diving straight into gourmand aromas. In short, it’s like a liquor-filled candy that’s very appetizing. The trail and longevity are moderate, and the quality is good. Rating: 6.

  • Carner has done an original job where milk, rum, tonka, and vanilla create a homogeneous, caramelized, sweet, and liqueur-like blend, diving straight into the gourmand world. It’s like a liquor-filled bonbon, very tempting. Sillage and longevity are moderate, with good quality. Rating: 6.

Very subtle without being bad… definitely has a very good combination, but it’s very subtle and at the same time very sweet at the start. It’s not my style, although I can say it smells very good. I wouldn’t buy it; it seems too expensive for the longevity it has. I’ll try other Carner scents to see how they are… Projection: 7, Longevity: 7.

I ordered a sample set and this is my favorite of all: Felino, Megalium, D600, El Born, and this one. To me, it smells like a smoothie with woods and sweet notes, mixed with vanilla ice cream. A sweet, creamy scent that sometimes reminds me of custard. Excellent performance, one of the best from the brand. Unisex, ideal for cold weather. Scent: 9.5, Longevity: 8, Sillage: 7, Value: 7, Versatility: 7, Originality: 9, Overall: 9.5.

I ordered a sample set and… I absolutely loved this one. I ordered Felino, Megalium, D600, El Born, and of course this one, plus I previously tried Besos and Tardes, and this is my clear favorite. To me, it smells like a milkshake, but one with woods and sweet notes mixed with vanilla ice cream. It’s a sweet and very creamy scent that sometimes reminds me of custard. The performance is good, among the best of the brand, not counting the extrait de parfums line. I see it as unisex and better for cold climates. Scent: 9.5, Longevity: 8, Sillage: 7, Value/Price: 7, Versatility: 7, Originality: 9, Overall: 9.5.

Today, January 29, 2021, I’m reviewing this perfume again. Two years ago I did one and it was negative or with low expectations. Today I received it, on a very cold day, a very cold one! And I definitely loved it. Everything I said before is partly true, but now in cold weather, it projects differently, less sweet above all. I’m very happy with it!

I don’t think it’s similar to By The Fireplace; I have them on both wrists and they have nothing to do with each other. You’d rather associate it with a commercial that no one would imagine is Spicebomb Extreme.

  • Palo Santo has a beautiful opening: milky, vanilla-infused, and with an alcohol note like Baileys. My association is with milk candies, here called ‘krówka’ or ‘vaquita’, in English ‘fudge’. Delicious. A warm, fluffy, and creamy fragrance, very much in the style of The Different Company Pure Virgin/Pure EvE or Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia. The guaiac is discreet enough but very obvious. Palo Santo is so silent, light, yet deep. Mixed fantastically, very tempting for my nose. It reminds me of a passage from C.S. Lewis’s ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’: Edmund Pevensie and his encounter with the Witch, when he was tempted with promises of power and endless Turkish delights.

  • The opening is gorgeous: milky, vanilla-infused, with that Baileys-like alcohol. It reminds me of milk candies, which we call ‘krówka’ or ‘fudge’ in English. Delicious, warm, fluffy, and creamy. Very in the style of The Different Company or Acqua di Parma. The guaiac is subtle but present. Palo Santo is quiet, light, yet deep. Fantastic. It reminds me of Edmund Pevensie in ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,’ tempted by Turkish sweets.

Wow! At first, for a few minutes, it was green, earthy, and damp; I almost heard frogs croaking. Then the woods came out and it got a bit boozy, but I didn’t smell rum, something softer, more like candies than creamy liquors. The more time passes, the more it reminds me of milk tea: rough and creamy at the same time, but very spiced. I liked it because it’s sweet and tender, yet deep. On my skin, it has many phases, all beautiful. And it seems like it will last quite a while, which is a relief!

  • If you’re looking for something that smells exactly like palo santo, this isn’t it; it’s more gourmand than woody. The opening is boozy, slightly spicy, and balsamic, like a butter toffee with Ricola mints. As it dries down, it gets sweeter; although it has that winter seal of Carner (resinous and vanilla sweetness), it’s different from Cuirs, Botafumeiro, or El Born. The key is that the guaiac wood gives it a woody, slightly spicy touch without being too gourmand or smoky. Curiously, on my skin, I don’t notice the milk until hour 4, when the vanilla fades; then it smells like cooked dulce de leche over a wood fire. It projects well for 3 hours and accompanied me all day with bursts. It’s not what I expected, but I loved it: it’s the perfect balance between gourmand, woods, and liquor. I see it as unisex, feminine, informal, perfect for cold days with an extra touch of sensual comfort. Due to the projection, I wouldn’t recommend it for work, but it depends on the dosage. A beautiful creation I hope to repeat. Pleasant: 8/10, Interesting: 7/10, Versatile: 7/10, Original: 6/10.

I’m surprised they say it doesn’t smell like palo santo because on my skin, it does. The opening is spiced coffee with vanilla, very spiced with cardamom and nutmeg, plus an alcohol note that fades quickly. It reminded me a lot of Café Cabanel (on my skin, there’s no trace of lavender). Then the mossy notes come through, a hint of dry hay, followed by soft woods. Imagine it like a rum latte in a palo santo cup: at first, you feel the milk and coffee, and at the end, the sweet, damp aroma of the wood with a milky touch. It’s pretty, discreet, and I liked it more than Jovoy’s Remember Me because the frangipani in that one can be annoying. Palo Santo is more versatile, doesn’t go unnoticed, and is unique. Soft to moderate trail, 8-10 hours longevity.

  • To start, unfortunately, it’s not sold here, so my husband ordered it from Barcelona and it was a total hit. I got the box with three 15ml minis: Marbella, Tardes, and Palo Santo. The last one is mystical, woody, and sweet, but not gourmand. The actual palo santo scent doesn’t last long at first, then it settles into a dry wood and an exquisite sandalwood that I love; it’s something uncommon and the best part of the collection. Definitely one of my favorites!

It’s the more feminine version of By The Fireplace. Since I found that one too masculine, I’ll now use it layered with Palo Santo to get the fireplace smell I wanted, but with a feminine touch. Palo Santo is more feminine than its counterpart and is a gem on its own. It starts spicy, like paprika (probably due to the hyssop which smells like Absinthe), then the intensity drops and it smells like a feminine By The Fireplace. After a few hours, it’s a delicious, warm, sweet rice pudding, without excessive cinnamon. It literally made me hungry. I loved it, it’s a buy. In Mexico, it’s sold at Maison Peony, but it’s 2,200 pesos more expensive than in Spain, so I prefer to wait until I go there.

This fragrance brings me peace and relaxation. If you’re looking for palo santo properties, they’re here. At first, it’s green and spicy, then it sweetens with vanilla and milk. It’s a very sweet wood. Totally unisex. I’ve worn it for 4 hours and I still smell it on my clothes; it seems like it will last even longer. It has an air of Kenzo Elephant’s rice pudding, but with more wood. If you like that, you’ll probably like this Carner one too, though they’re not twins.

It’s the more feminine version of By The Fireplace. I discarded it before because I thought it was masculine, but now I’ll use it with Palo Santo for layering: a realistic but feminine fireplace scent. Palo Santo is more feminine than its counterpart and is a gem on its own. It starts spicy, like paprika (probably due to the absinthium, similar to absinthe). Then the intensity drops and it smells like the feminine version of By The Fireplace. After hours, it’s the most succulent, well-made, warm, and sweet rice pudding, without excess cinnamon or sugar. Delicious, it literally made me hungry. I loved it, it’s a must-buy. They sell it in Mexico at Maison Peony, but it costs 2,200 pesos more than in Spain, so I prefer to wait until I travel.

  • The name must be a trick, because if you splash on a bottle of caramel vodka, you save 160€.

  • A real treat of a perfume. Palo santo is the star from start to finish. At the beginning, woods with liquorish tones, almost too sweet for me, but soon the creamy-milky part shines, reminding me of Commodity’s Milk. At the end, woods, vanilla, and tonka bean blend in an excellent, rich balance. It stays sweet throughout. 100% unisex, ideal for autumn/winter on semi-formal afternoon/evening occasions. Lasts 7-8 hours with good initial projection that moderates later. Not easy to like and I wouldn’t recommend buying it blind, but I loved it.

  • anamaestracorreo

Smells amazing. Super milky, smells like cereal with milk and vanilla. It’s my favorite from Carner alongside Tardes. Unisex and lasts great.

  • At first, the first 15 minutes on the skin are pure wood. Then it shifts to an incredibly rich almond milk. It stays on me for several hours skin-close, but it projects nothing.

  • MarceloRossi

Addictive and warm scent, but not overwhelming. Lasts about 7 hours, though the projection is very low, almost skin-close. Very pleasant and reminds me of Baileys liqueur. I see it as suitable for unisex use and a bit more formal occasions.

  • Carles Avilés

Warm and enveloping opening with dark rum and a touch of herbaceous davana, mysterious and comforting. Starts sensual and slightly sweet, like the first sip of aged liquor. In the heart, the milk melts with guaiac and tonka, creating a tactile, almost skin-on-skin sensation. The dry down is deep and silky, dominated by sandalwood, vetiver, and vanilla, evoking memories and rituals. It’s introspective and spiritual, for those seeking emotional depth and living between the real and the symbolic. In music, it reminds me of Puccini’s Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut or the melancholic jazz of Gianluca Petrella. In color, smoky amber with golden and earthy nuances.

  • I tried it because of the name, expecting something herbal, but it turned out to be a super-concentrated cream liqueur. I don’t like whisky rum notes, so it didn’t convince me. If you love those flavors, it’s a very realistic palo santo and a great perfume, but it just doesn’t fit for me. The quality and longevity are excellent; it soaked into my clothes and I could still smell it at 10 hours.

  • I tried it by name, thinking it would be aromatic or herbal… and I felt a super-concentrated liqueur cream at first. Personally, I don’t like rum or whiskey liqueur notes. If you enjoy that, in Palo Santo the rum note is very realistic and I think it’s a great perfume for those who appreciate it, but not for me. Excellent quality and longevity (it soaked into my clothes and I can still smell it after 10 hours).

  • Palo Santo sounds mystical, but forget the wood; it smells more like Baileys. It’s a spicy, milky rum bomb at first, then settles into a vanilla and milk blend over a bed of woods. Ideal for lovers of creamy, feminine scents, perfect for intimate dates. Lasts about 8 hours with a personal sillage that isn’t overwhelming. Scent: 8, Performance: 7.5, Packaging: 8, Price: 6 (on sale). Didn’t buy it, but I’d try it again.
