Just tried Zara’s Perpetual Oud today, and wow, they smell identical.

With end-of-season sales, this fragrance is great and quite unisex. The rose stands out well on male skin, which is uncommon, so Mystic Rose might be a hit. In the bottle, it smells like some shampoo or spray my older aunts or cousins used, but on skin, it’s understated: rose with amberwood. Those are the only two notes I detect. Haven’t tested longevity and sillage yet, which are usually Zara’s weak points, but still highly recommended.

I spotted it in store yesterday and it sounds VERY much like Nina Ricci’s Rose Extase (the pink bottle, I think Francis Kurkdjian created it and they no longer sell it). Zara is obsessed with everything he creates. It’s on sale, so here it is. (If it’s not this one, it’s ‘C’est la Rose’; I tried both, but I’m sure it was the first one).

I absolutely love this scent; it smells like fine, delicate rose soap. Lasts on clothes for days.

The scent is too strong.

At first, I detected a strong spicy smell, like incense, probably from the base resin. It faded over time, leaving a powdery, slightly sweet rose that I liked (in fact, it’s the one I’ve enjoyed most from this rose collection). Honestly, I barely noticed the fruity aspect, just a slight sweetness. The star here is a very classic rose, so if you don’t like the smell of this flower, better to avoid it. On my skin, it had average performance.
