  Undoubtedly a masterpiece by the Roudnitska that laid the groundwork for future hits like Eau Savage and inspired fragrances such as YSL Homme. Moustache transports you to a classic scene with citrus, jasmine, and moss, but adds a twist by injecting a lot of musk. This creates a great tension between the luminous and smoky, earthy, and pheromonal. At times, it reminds me of Jicky for that musky side, though Guerlain’s version leans more toward lavender and a subtle vanilla, sweetened with honey rather than amplified. Don’t take it as a purely animalic and earthy perfume; those nuances serve to fit perfectly with the citrus, jasmine, and lavender that dominate its longevity. Over time, Eau Savage would play with this structure but with spicier woods and basil, while in the 70s, YSL Homme amplified that animalic citrus side with stronger herbs. The trail is moderate to light, staying close to the skin quickly, but the sillage is good, typical of a cologne. A beautiful creation. My review is about the bottle in the photo.
