I like the fragrance. I tested it with my usual 20 sprays and noticed it smells different in the bottle than on the skin. In the bottle, it’s peculiar, fresh, and elegant, with that cardamomo common in Ésika scents. However, I feel it lacks a bit more body. Upon application, I remembered hearing it before… it’s CK One Shock! It smells like sweet tobacco, though here there’s more sweetness without being cloying. I didn’t detect a predominant freshness, but rather a powdery texture, just like Shock. I also didn’t feel the referenced leather; for me, it’s a soft, sweet, powdery tobacco that shouldn’t be there. I’d love to try the whiskey note. Well-executed alcohol notes are the only unique thing I find. The relationship with a perfume can be demanding. Cheers.
Incredible how little I paid for so much. It’s so well-balanced: the leather and whiskey notes are delicious, and the apple stands out. It’s not cloying, easy to wear, and not as loud as similar ones. It didn’t remind me much of 212 VIP (I don’t have CH Men Privé to compare), but for the price, it’s a blind buy with no risks. I’ve paid double and triple for designer scents with nothing to show for it. Scent: 10/10, Price: 10/10, Longevity: 8/10, Overall: 9/10.
Magnat by Ésika, what a scent! Definitely one of the best catalog fragrances. It offers much more quality for its low price: seductive, masculine, charming, and sexy. I know for a fact it far outperforms 212 VIP and CH Men Privé in sillage, longevity, and scent. For me, it will be a lifetime fragrance, an extraordinary investment. It should be in every man’s top 10. I’ll soon be buying Imperium and Select, which are also high quality for the price. I regret not buying it 4 years ago.
It’s an overwhelming fragrance. Elegant and sophisticated; perhaps the leather notes are excessive, but they achieve an excellent combination. Flawless quality-to-price ratio. It doesn’t feel like a cheap cologne.
It’s a warm, generic-scented perfume, but long-lasting: hours on the skin and up to 15 on clothes. Moderate but good sillage for the price. Recommendation: about 7 sprays.
If you want compliments left and right, buy this perfume. Like its siblings Select and Exclusive Edition, it’s a magnet for women; they literally stick to you to smell it. Excellent, intoxicating, and exquisite scent. Ideal for dates, family, friends, or work. Maybe you don’t notice it as much after 8 hours, but others do. Works well in cold and temperate climates; in heat, Magnat Imperium is better. For a catalog fragrance, it far surpasses designer ones. I give it 8.5, same as its siblings (I’d rate Select a 9).
Finally got it: Magnat by Ésika. As many say, it resembles Carolina Herrera’s 212. It’s a pleasant, harmonious scent with a fresh sweetness that feels like walking into a shopping mall. It leans more toward freshness over a sweet base, perfect for parties and easy to wear at night. It makes a youthful scent feel much more sociable. Projection is weak; it won’t offend anyone, but it’s not exactly a powerhouse. Scent: 8.0. Projection: moderate to weak (1 hour, then skin-only). Longevity: max 5-6 hours. Recommended.
I wasn’t trusting catalog fragrances, but this one—brought to me by my wife as a sample after she bought an Ésika lipstick—caught me off guard. It’s on another level; I even think it feels more noble than several on the market, like Halloween. A delightful revelation.
I bought it, but it hasn’t arrived yet; I’ll update in a few days. The one I already have, which also isn’t on Fragrantica, is its flanker, Magnat Imperium. Ésika is a Peruvian brand with over 50 years of history, a distant cousin of Natura. Among its hidden treasures, this is a gem. It follows a similar path to Nautica Voyage but doesn’t feel like it; I preferred Imperium because it feels less synthetic, more robust and elegant. Both are distant cousins—similar but not identical. Performance: good for the first 2 hours, then fades to skin-level like Nautica. Scent: 8.0. Longevity: projecting well for 2 hours, lasting 6-8 hours total. I’m also receiving Magnat, Select, and Kalos, and I’ll keep you posted. Worth it for the price and build quality. Recommended.
Magnat ‘Select’: I’m writing this because it’s missing on Fragrantica. This flanker is simply exquisite. It’s a scent with personality—not for 20-year-olds, but for elegant, classy men who reflect maturity without being ‘old.’ A beautiful surprise, addictively dark and refined. A must-have if you want to make a great impression at a formal gathering or a date. It reminds me of Ferragamo Signature, but it’s worth it. Only time will tell how it compares to Ferragamo in performance, but as a scent, it’s a delight. Recommended.
Does anyone know how to get this in Spain?
It has a great similarity to Carolina Herrera 212 VIP BLACK. Great quality for the affordable price. Sexy aroma, like a signature scent, a 10/10, versatile for any occasion. This catalog perfume is excellent, I highly recommend it. Cheers.
Agree with Juanpablo3321. Is it worth it? No, and I’m starting to think there are hidden Ésika sellers writing reviews. I bought MAGNAT and MAGNAT SELECT and it was a disappointment: synthetic perfumes, smelling cheap and even nauseating. What kind of bad imitation of CH Men Privé is that? How can you buy into that delicious rum note with this green apple mess? It gives me chills that they claim MAGNAT SELECT is sophisticated or similar to the incredible Bvlgari Man in Black. False on performance: they project nothing and fade to skin-level very quickly. MAGNAT SELECT lasts a bit longer, the classic is a whisper. Compliments, maybe only from a loved one out of pity. Anyone who has smelled decent perfumes will immediately sense the low quality. Don’t waste your money on this; for the same price you can get something good like Ferragamo or Mercedes. Colombians can also check out Jean Pascal or Arturo Calle. Avoid this mess and support the good stuff.
Simply disappointing. I don’t understand how someone recommends it and compares it to CH Men Privé or 212 VIP Black. I bought it blind after those recommendations, but it’s nothing like them. Its performance is abysmal and its scent is a 3/10, leaning towards unisex-feminine.
Not much to add to what othersudacamas said… I bought them blind and only used them on the day they arrived. I don’t plan to use them again; they really smell like something extremely ordinary. If you’re looking for catalog scents, go to Natura, it worked great for me, but I won’t buy anything else from a catalog brand.
Quality-to-price and cost-benefit ratio: we have to talk about Ésika. I’ve been using these for about 12 years now, and for the price, the scents are more than satisfactory. I’ve spent 40 times more on fragrances that aren’t as good as their price suggests, whereas Ésika ones are affordable but stand out. Magnat Select is almost identical to Ferragamo Signature; Magnat Fragancia Madre is youthful and modern, very much in line with Carolina Herrera 212; and Magnat Imperium far surpasses the synthetic Nautica Voyage. Some will like it, others won’t, but they don’t seem generic or poorly made. For what you pay, they’re recommended. If you want unbeatable quality, pay more. Those who complain just want to smell like Tom Ford while paying $15. These fragrances play in the low-cost league and compete honorably, sometimes beating designer brands. Ésika Privé L Homme is an absolute delight, though discontinued, still found in Colombia, Chile, and Peru, and it’s a masterpiece, perhaps the best of recent times. The Element is another gem that makes me reluctant to buy from the big brands, making overvalued houses like Chanel, Dior, or YSL look bad for charging a fortune just for their names. Overall, the quality is acceptable, satisfactory, and in some cases outstanding. Absolutely recommended.
Hello fragrance lovers, in my humble opinion I own all three Magnats and the truth is I haven’t had bad luck with any of them; in fact, they last longer than some designer scents. For what I paid, it was worth it. The world of perfumery is very diverse and tastes are extremely different. Even the best perfume in the world has divided opinions, so buy what you like and that’s it. Cheers.
Best in terms of scent and price, incredibly cheap for what it contains. A woody blend with leather and rum notes that creates something exquisite, almost edible. Out of my 20 designer scents, this has gotten me more compliments than my beloved Givenchy Gentleman. The downside is it lasts about 4 hours on skin and projects less than 2 feet, but on clothes it lasts until the next day. Very impressive for the price.
Nice fragrance with excellent value for money. It has a sweet touch, so you need to be careful with the amount because it can sometimes get a bit cloying.
What a pity the new formula has dropped in quality; before, with William Levy, it promised 8 hours of longevity and great projection, but now it’s very soft and sweet, nothing for hot weather. Perfect after 5 PM paired with an elegant casual outfit.
Very good fragrance, versatile for the office and casual or formal wear. It’s very similar to CH Men, about 90%. It’s a bit sweet, smells of light leather, and has rich green apple notes. I’ve received many compliments at work; it’s definitely recommended, though not for warm weather because it’s not fresh.
Magnat summary: the perfume that offers the most quality for its price. There are three versions: Magnat Classic, which smells rich, gives personality, authority, and formality (it has an air like JPG Le Male); Magnat Select, with a darker, mysterious, and sexy aroma that is incredibly rich; and Magnat Imperium, versatile and bolder than the classic, ideal for summer daytime. Similar rating to @Jerry7474: Aroma 8.0, moderate to weak projection (1.5 hours, then skin scent), and maximum 5 hours longevity. No fear with sprays based on my experience. *A like if you liked the review*.
I bought it on recommendation and was surprised by the quality-to-price ratio. I’ve used it at events and received compliments. It smells great, though I don’t always wear it because of the heat in my city. The downside is that it doesn’t last more than 5 hours on skin, and I’ve had to reapply, but it’s excellent for going out and leaving a masculine scent.
If there’s nothing good to say, I won’t say it, and sadly, that’s the case. It doesn’t resemble CH Men Prive at all, and I think there are better options in the Esika catalog, like Kromo Black, which is good, looks nice, is cheap, and has decent longevity.
This fragrance is delicious. People say it’s one of the worst, but in my opinion, it’s fantastic; everyone loves a sweet, liquor-scented smell. I own more than 50 designer and niche perfumes, and this beats many of them. It smells of very light liquor and leather, not strong or unpleasant like Tuscan Leather, which I find too intense. Yes, the longevity and sillage are poor, but the scent is excellent, and I’ve received more compliments than with pricier perfumes like Bleu, CH Men Prive (they’re not similar), 212 VIP Black (this smells more synthetic than the Magnat), Jubilation XXV, etc. Give it a try for $10. The one that reminds me of it is Invitus Intense, like a fusion of Magnat and Select.
Back in 2017, my mom gave me samples of L’Bel, including two Magnats, and I liked them. It smells sweet and oriental; I love its woody, leather, and liquor accords. I give it 8.5 out of 10. The one I truly love is the Magnat Select; it’s one of the best I’ve ever owned. Hopefully, they’ll add it to the platform soon.
Excellent aroma for everyday wear.
It’s very good, I think one of the best from Esika. It comes out with whiskey and a slightly synthetic green apple, but it’s a great perfume. The whiskey is what stands out most, with a sweet touch from the amber. It’s a hidden gem.
It’s an average perfume. It has a moment where it smells weird, maybe because of the whiskey note. It’s not bad, but it’s only suitable for running errands or going to the store. It doesn’t last long and has no projection.
I bought the Magnat and the Select blind and they didn’t disappoint: they’re a great value. The Magnat opens with a delicious, fresh apple note that later turns more woody with a liquor touch; perfect for everyday wear or the office. It lasts about 5 hours on skin. The Select is my favorite: it smells more oriental, with dark wood, spices, and a hint of amber. It’s perfect for going out at night in cool weather, dates, or parties; it looks more serious and seductive with a shirt or suit. I recommend both for the price (around $17.50 in Mexico): the Magnat for office/school and the Select for special occasions.
I see people crying because it doesn’t last and not buying it. What did they expect from 5-dollar perfumes? If they’re so demanding, go for Tom Ford at 400 dollars. Here they want to smell all day at a low price and still demand more. It’s a great fragrance.
For the price, it’s excellent. Performance and scent are very good. You can’t expect more for what you pay, but it gives a lot.
I bought it on sale and gifted it to my husband. Every time he wears it, I bite my lip and can’t stop smelling it. People say it doesn’t last, but on him it projects a lot and he gets compliments all over town.
I sold my Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Black to keep this Magnat instead. They’re very similar. To me, the 212 was too loud and overwhelming. This feels synthetic, but not badly. For the price, it’s a great buy. You get apple, whiskey, and leather. Charming and versatile, works in summer if used moderately. Projection and longevity are 4 to 6 hours, then it fades to skin scent. I picked it up with Select for 600 pesos.
Pleasant surprise. For the price, it’s one of the best. Buy any Magnat by Esika, they are rich fragrances. Though I’d save a bit more to grab an Arabic scent.
This Magnat is very woody and aromatic, and more long-lasting than the other Esika scents. With this one, you never get disappointed.
Pleasant, sweet, with leather and a hint of liquor. But the performance is weak: about half an hour of projection, then it fades to skin scent. I liked it, but I wouldn’t buy it again. It’s good for testing if you like leather before investing in something better. Lasted about 3 hours on me.
I bought this 10 years ago when William Levy was promoting it. At first, I hated it for being too sweet, like vanilla, and I gave it away. Now, a decade later, it smells much better: less sweet, with notes of apple, suede, and herbs. For $14, it beats Zara and doesn’t smell like AVON. Lasts 12 hours on my skin, a masculine scent with soft leather. The Magnat line is top-tier, but Select and Elite smell like designer fragrances. 🔥
Woody and fresh, the classic blue scent but with a sweet, distinctive dry-down. Flawless performance, great sillage, and long-lasting. Versatile and perfect for daily wear, especially in Esika’s heat without breaking the bank. If you want compliments, this is the winner.
You can’t miss the tobacco note. It’s worth every penny, unlike CK Free which feels like a total rip-off compared to this.
