  • If you thought you’d get a perfume similar to Althaïr by Parfums de Marly, you’re wrong: this smells much more like Liquid Brun 2024. It has a more citrusy opening and feels much more floral and soft, probably due to the lavender. Since it’s an extract, I notice that Liquid Brun 2024 lasts longer than this limited edition 2025. And if you’re looking for the best Althaïr by Parfums de Marly inspiration without a doubt, based on notes and longevity, it’s Perseviron by Paris Corner. Scent: 8/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Price: 7/10

  • Improves on and adds versatility to its predecessor. It has an incredibly rich beast mode. Creamy and radiant at the same time, citrusy and sweet. An explosive combination. A top-tier scent that gets you compliments at a fair price.

I agree with the comments below: this edition drifts a bit from Althair and adds to that luxurious, woody base a touch reminiscent of designer perfumes like Stronger With You or One Million; I suspect it’s due to the orange blossom and lavender, which are very noticeable and give it a metallic, aldehydic air. Plus, it reduces the excess resinousness and that mentholated sensation of the original. Although it still resembles Liquid Brun up to 80%, anyone can tell the difference, even my girlfriend who isn’t an expert (she thought they smelled different). While the original had incredible longevity, this projects more and lasts a bit longer, or at least that’s my impression, because this scent ‘overpowers’ the previous one (due to the intensity of a certain chemical, you stop smelling Liquid Brun, but the Limited Edition remains intense). I’m disappointed that many reviewers repeat it’s a ‘darker’ version, swayed by the bottle or claiming it’s the same thing just stronger. Ultimately, it’s a flanker that keeps that marked DNA: if you like one, you’ll likely like the other, but they can be redundant if you were expecting something darker or more complex. Update: after trying Afnan Historic Sahara, I’d say it’s the orange blossom that I dislike about this version. Both are at the extremes, with original Liquid Brun in the middle being the most faithful to Althair; on one side, the Afnan version without orange blossom, more spiced and gourmand; and on the other, Liquid Brun Limited Edition, which amps up the orange blossom and becomes more of a ‘crowd pleaser’ with that ‘designer DNA’ of lavender. If you like Althair, go for Liquid Brun. If it feels too mentholated or ‘Arabic’, go for the Limited Edition. If it feels too sweet or sharp and you’re looking for something slightly more elegant, go for Historic Sahara. All three last and project excellently while maintaining the Althair DNA.

This perfume is very similar to the original version, but in my humble opinion, slightly improved. The lavender note is a great success and gives me the impression that longevity and projection have improved, even though they were already excellent in the original. It remains a spiced vanilla, but the lavender adds a subtle ‘blue fragrance’ freshness (it’s not a fresh scent, just a nuance) that makes it more balanced.

  • First impression: very similar to the original Liquid Brun. It feels more potent (holds up great on a motorcycle ride). Maybe a slightly more ‘party’ vibe, but barely.
