Descripción
French Avenue Meringue is a woody musky floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2024, this composition features the olfactory signature of Carole Calmettes. The top notes unfold with tropical freshness featuring pineapple, mandarin, and bergamot; the heart reveals a soft texture of suede and sandalwood; while the base notes close the structure with vanilla, white musk, birch, and ambergris.

A fragrance that wraps around you like a hug, harmonious, super warm, sensual, sweet, and endearing, yet fresh. It opens with sweet, effervescent ripe pineapple, with a tiny hint of that tingling sensation on the palate (bromelain); immediately, the quince, bergamot skin, and blood orange pulp burst in, creating a juicy effect. Freshly sprayed, it’s a bomb, a sparkling explosion, sweet and tender, where red berries and a noticeable pink pepper are detectable from several meters away. Mandarin and vanilla open up, lots of vanilla, in a vibrant effect that puts you in a good mood. Suede wraps everything, giving it a sensual spicy touch; the prominent sandalwood adds something unique that makes it addictive. A subtle touch of suede or leather makes it similar to BDK Crème De Cuir… but at a tiny fraction of the price. White musk makes it creamy and palatable, without being cloying. And the pineapple… ooooooh, the vanilla-infused pineapple, a little dessert. The pineapple and mandarin are noticeable for up to an hour; the suede accommodates a smoky cedar, the perfume becomes very intimate and deep. As hours pass, the initial cloud closes in, detectable only up close but without losing complexity or its “roundness.” An Arabic fragrance that doesn’t seem Arabic… an olfactory jewel, suitable for both day and night, very versatile (though I’d avoid intense summer). I think it’s very feminine, for a modern, elegant woman, leaving an unforgettable impression. I’m obsessed, a total crush.
It’s creamy, animalic, mysterious, and unique. You can tell it’s different from many others. It’s strong and I think it’s perfect for very cold weather. You can feel the sweetness of the vanilla, but it smells like that special wood called birch. Important to know that this wood isn’t strong or masculine. It’s soft, creamy with sandalwood, and a bit fresh. A fairly unique aroma. I’d say it’s unisex. To be honest, it doesn’t smell much like meringue; it’s not like the dessert I remember. It’s creamy, vanilla-infused, silky, and sweet.
Between the name and the claim that it’s for women, they’re playing a bad joke. The truth is, there’s only “meringue” in the name; it smells totally unisex. It reminds me a lot of perfumes like MiP by V&A or Black by Bvlgari. It’s that kind of cold, dry vanilla with powdery touches. It’s a scent I already know and love. I’d pay for this, in fact, I did. Of course, I wouldn’t pay for the supposed clone.
At first, I thought I’d made a mistake and that it was for men or unisex. The wood notes dominate so much; I don’t understand why they call it “Meringue” when the sweetness is almost non-existent. Now, putting aside the fiasco of the name and category, it’s a very interesting woody fragrance that instantly transports you to an old country house. It’s not my style, but I’d recommend it to anyone who likes those notes.
This is an absolute hit!
