I’ve always wanted to smell this perfume to feel how Audrey Hepburn smelled… I’ve never been able to do it.
This perfume is a classic, but for me, very talcum-powdery. I never owned it, but my mom did, and over time the powderiness faded and softened. I wouldn’t define it as exquisite, but it’s not bad, though it feels very formal and old-fashioned.
Audrey knew what she was doing by asking for exclusivity from Givenchy. The Le de fragrance is beautiful: floral, delicate, and natural, but it lacks the complexity of L’Interdit, with its benzoin, spices, and amber that make it velvety and interesting. It has a floral side, a fruity one, and an oriental one. It’s multifaceted without losing delicacy. The iris and violets compete with the rose, though the violet takes the lead. After a sweet background of strawberry and tangerine, benzoin, sandalwood, and spices simmer softly at the base, without harshness, leaving an interesting foundation so it’s not just floral. The aldehydes are there but not prominent. Exquisite, it perfectly complements Givenchy dresses. Review on the old EDT.
L’Interdit has quite a bit of aldehyde mixed with fruity notes, slightly sweet with that cosmetic powder sensation. I liked it; it’s a classic that resembles Chanel perfumes but with a fruitier touch.

Rest in peace, Monsieur Hubert de Givenchy.
Incredible to test vintage versions like this. It’s like reading a history book with your nose: lives lived, another elegance, and an unreachable magic. What’s left of the EDT in an ’80s tube is intense: dusty yet fresh with floral notes and aldehydes blending into a sweet, resinous base. It speaks of opulent, mysterious femininity. If a perfume is a forbidden fruit, L’Interdit is a hit. It feels like Hubert walked through a summer garden searching for treasures for his eternal muse. Audrey radiates romance and charm, and this fragrance accompanies me all night, waking me up when it’s time for breakfast at Tiffany’s.
I’m one of the lucky few who got to try this discontinued gem. It opens with soft aldehydes hugging a ripe strawberry. I love the floral burst until the iris hits 😅, which smells like baby wipes and is way too potent. Then it releases a blend of musk, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang reminiscent of Chanel No. 5, though L’Interdit feels more talcum-powdery while Chanel is soapy. It’s a masterpiece; I don’t get why it was retired to make way for what they sell today 😩
