Descripción

Land by Lacoste Fragrances is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men, created in 1991 by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena. The composition opens with a fresh and vibrant top note of bergamot and lemon, leading into a spicy and woody heart featuring black pepper, clove, and sandalwood. It settles on a warm and persistent base of vetiver, patchouli, and musk, solidifying a robust and masculine structure.

  • I own both the first edition and a bottle from just before it was discontinued (around 2006, though I’m not 100% sure). The concentration and composition never changed. To me, it’s the best ‘green’ fragrance since the 70s, with ingredients that create that humid forest and aged wood aura. The oakmoss and vetiver pairing is perfect. I miss it dearly. I still haven’t found anything similar, even after trying scents with nearly the same formula. It’s baffling that things like this disappear, though it’s not the only case. I remember it was fascinating that some people had no idea what it was, while others could recognize it from a distance and say, ‘You’re wearing Land… right?’. When it launched in the 90s, it coincided with other standout scents that had better marketing, which might explain its limited reach. Just looking at the box and bottle, you could tell it was special. It gave off an air of success and something extra that made the female demographic more interested in the wearer, especially if dressed appropriately. Absolutely masculine without being over-the-top. If they ever brought it back, it would be my go-to fragrance. Maybe more suited for winter than summer, but it always had a great effect. With a standout longevity of around 8 hours and a moderate sillage, it was worth every penny. Lacoste hasn’t released anything this remarkable since, even with their latest releases.
