Descripción

Caron Yatagan is an aromatic green fragrance for men. Launched in 1978, this composition was created by perfumer Vincent Marcello. The top notes unfold with a fresh accord of pine, galbanum, basil, watercress, lavender, and mint. The heart reveals an herbaceous and earthy character with absinthe, oakmoss, oak, and patchouli. Finally, the base settles into a warm and persistent foundation of castoreum, woods, incense, and musk.

  • Human marvel. Exquisite presentation and an incredible scent; I can’t stop wearing it. I’ll be buying the bottle soon and hoping to find it. It’s fantastic, only for winners.

  • Human marvel. Someone gifted me a sample and the scent is incredible; I can’t get enough of it. I’ll be buying the bottle soon and hope I get lucky to find it. It’s fantastic, truly for winners.

  • Bought in Paris (2013) and it’s a shame: the reformulation ruined this gem. The original lasted all day; now it’s gone in ten minutes. If you can, hunt down the old batch or a modern bottle without a serial number engraved. Such a pity.

Timeless and masculine powerhouse. Hot, temperamental, and bold with zero sweetness or vanilla; it radiates pure masculinity. It might clash with current tastes because it’s ‘hard,’ but I’m obsessed. Medium longevity, a trail that’s present without being intrusive. Perfect for cold weather and formal occasions. An 8/10.

  • One of my favorites. A unique and wonderful scent that leaves a mark: it inspires strength, virility, power, class, wisdom, and elegance. It has a lot of personality, it’s a gem and a French work of art. I use it sparingly because I feel it fades quickly. I give it 100 points.

  • It’s one of my favorites, its scent is highly unique and wonderful… wherever you go you leave your mark, it’s a scent that inspires strength, sex, virility, power, class, wisdom, and above all elegance… it has a lot of personality, it’s a jewel and a work of art of French perfumery… I use it little because I feel it’s running out, hehe… I give it 100 points.

  • I searched for Caron Yatagan for a long time and by chance found in my belongings an almost full bottle with a brown container. Actually, the fragrance lasts all day; it would be good if they made it again with the previous formula.

  • Honestly, I expected more from this perfume; it smells like my grandfather’s cologne. I don’t know if it’s my pH or what, but it faded after three hours. It didn’t convince me, so I’m giving it a 4/10.

  • Honestly, I expected more. It smells very much like an old man’s perfume. I expected more from Caron, and I don’t know if my pH isn’t compatible with this lotion, but it only lasted three hours. I didn’t like it, rating 4/10.

  • As many say, I bought it 20 days ago, and since they changed the formula from the original, this new one smells horrible, doesn’t last at all, and is watery and pale. It went from brown to yellow. I don’t recommend it because I have the new formula; I didn’t know the old one, the one they said was delicious.

  • A piece I consider the bold sibling of Quorum. Less green and more animalic, but both live near the lagoon of a shifting sand forest. Recommended, but use with respect; it’s a small great crocodile.

  • I just bought it and used it once; I expected more. It didn’t seem like much to me; I applied it once and it smelled neither bad nor good, nothing, it went unnoticed. I felt a Halston Z14 vibe. I’ll apply it again to see, I don’t know. For now, I give it 3/10.

  • One of my favorites to kick off autumn. Yatagan has seventies coordinates; it’s a difficult proposal requiring acquired taste, it stands apart from everything, and it’s a miracle it’s still in production. The opening is herbal, bitter, earthy, rough green, dark, and twilight. More than a perfume, it’s an act of faith. Loaded with notes reminiscent of the opening scenes of an eighties horror movie: the placid urbanization at dusk. The pine is threatening, not Mediterranean, but the pine of a forest where you’re lost and no one finds you. It settles quickly on the skin. It’s not a powerhouse or a beast (never was, despite reformulations). The projection is quite good, neither timid nor exuberant. It defines itself more as a skin scent with leather nuances, glandular, biological, and animalic, cut against the forest and smoky incense. Night bonfires, dangerous nature, wet earth, and little moonlight. Very masculine, but not the Sean Connery of 007, rather John Wayne. Adult things, serene behaviors without nonsense. Very suitable for bold women. Although it doesn’t seek stellar projection, the longevity is “forever.” If you put it on and don’t like it, you might have a bad day. Yatagan is from another era, for people for whom the present feels out of reach.

Neither do I like it nor dislike it. Green, herbal, and woody opening with pine and tarragon. It has a bitter touch, then it becomes woody. You can detect patchouli and oakmoss, and a leather note adds sophistication. The dry down is good, with leather leading, but the opening is a bit harsh for me. Ideal for autumn and winter, day and night. Long-lasting longevity, moderate sillage.

  • I’m running out and need another bottle, what do I do??? 🙁 And I can’t find it where I am 🙁

Unique! Yatagan was 25 years ahead of its time. It’s spectacular—the only one that blends sweet and salty. It’s penetrating, impactful, sweet, and animalic. You have to get it, tame it, and understand it to wear it with confidence.

After a long journey, a lost monastery in the forest offers you shelter. Your senses are confused by fatigue and the multitude of perceived notes: pine, lavender, moss, mint… You seek rest and think of that brilliant combination, masculine, not for everyone, and for special moments when you want to make a difference. Yatagan needs a man without complexes, strong, who doesn’t care about others’ comments. It brings to mind an old detective, respectful of the law but capable of taking another path if necessary. It’s not easy or harmonious, but if you grasp its essence, you’ll have an excellent companion for the gray, cold months. Thanks, Bofifa.

Yatagan is masculine: man with whiskey and a leather chupa. It smells of herbal liquor and real animalic musk, not synthetic detergent-like musk. Austere, characterful, and mature (not old). The original longevity was outstanding, and the trail was felt a mile away. Now the reformulation is a crime: they’ve sweetened it and it doesn’t last at all. No excuses needed for ruining masterpieces. Recommended for all seasons except summer and daytime use.

  • Metaleroenésimo

Caron Yatagan is masculine: the man with a glass of whisky and a leather chupa. It smells of herbal liquor and real musk, not that synthetic white musk that smells like clean laundry. Real musk is the kind from deer. Yatagan is austere, characterful, classic, and mature (not old; maturity is an attitude). Longevity was notable; I tested it years ago. The trail, according to my mother, was felt a league away, though I didn’t notice it due to saturation. Now they say it was reformulated and doesn’t last a sigh. It’s a crime against perfumery masterpieces. They hide behind preserving species or allergens, but it’s no excuse to ‘ruin’ a fragrance. I recommend it for all seasons except summer and for daytime use.

When I was young, my dad would hide it between his shoes to apply it when I wasn’t looking. They say it’s an adult scent, but absolutely not: it’s super masculine and pleasant. I bought two bottles, one for me and another I returned to my dad, very happy. I love it for this and many other reasons.

  • My fascination with Caron lies in its jewels that defined perfumery. I’ve tried almost everything, except Yatagan, which was always the thorn in the house’s blooming bouquet. It’s not bad, just unknown, and trying something new always breeds doubt. Like meeting an attractive stranger, the chemistry between skin and spray is unpredictable. Yatagan is spicy, warm, and smoky. I tried the current version, and there was no chemistry. I’m capricious; I wanted it young and handsome. Instead, I got a temporal fractal: a sample in an old box with miniatures of pine and yatagan. I tested it instantly: it opens with a blast of bergamot, lavender, and artemisia. It draws a spicy, pungent imprint. The heart of carnation and geranium adds creaminess, alongside a moderate pine reminiscent of classics like Agua Brava but with an oriental woody twist. Then comes the musk, coconut, styrax, amber, incense, and leather with a feromonal animalic touch. It has everything to be a projection beast, but it prioritizes quality over tenacity. It’s invasive due to the spices (oregano, etc.) but doesn’t project bestially. The leather appears at the end, mixed with everything; the incense is restrained, and the animalic notes give it that seventies vibe. It has multiple textures; you still feel the top notes while the essence deepens. It’s not for everyone, although the Z14 vintage is easier to wear, Yatagan feels interesting to me for special occasions. It doesn’t disappoint; the quality is extreme. The current version isn’t bad, but it has a rare, crunchy leather that doesn’t quite close for me. Another Caron jewel.

Truly for adults. It’s not enough to pretend; you have to be it. The name comes from the Ottoman saber, a serious weapon. Spicy herbal notes, pine, and mint evolve into animalic patchouli, wood, and oakmoss. No sweetness or florals. It’s earthy, business-like, and serious. It doesn’t project much, so don’t try to make it work or you’ll be disappointed, but the longevity is excellent.

  • Mr. Baskerville

This is truly for adults. It’s not enough to dress or act the part; you have to ‘be’ it. I’m not talking about machismo, tattoos, or James Bond walks. The name Yatagan comes from Turkish, referring to a short saber with an ivory hilt and noble woods, used by the Janissaries. It fits this fragrance perfectly: you don’t give a yatagan to a child. It starts herbal and spicy with pine, mint, and resins, mutating into an animalic, woody patchouli with oakmoss. There’s no sweetness or florals here; it’s earth, weeds, and business. It doesn’t project much, don’t try to make it, but the longevity is excellent.

  • The original formula is unforgettable, masculine, and adored by women who love classic, confident men. It’s not for metrosexuals or those obsessed with looking young. It’s for men who respect themselves in their attire and their story. Unfortunately, the new formula is terrible: it smells like Dove soap, Skip detergent, and a cabaret incense stick. Nothing like the original. This one is for metro men who want to hide their creams. Shame on Caron.

  • nachovorago

I bought it blindfolded because of my love for classics. It smells vintage, green, spicy, and masculine. Imagine an autumn forest or a man at home with bottled nature. Nothing sweet or soapy; it’s classic and bold. For the brave, a real treat.

  • nachovorago

My love for classics led me to buy it blind. It smells vintage, green, spicy, masculine, and bold. It evokes a forest, an autumn walk, a man at home, bottled nature. Current trends chase sweetness, but there’s none of that here, nor that soapy tone found in other contemporaries. It’s classic, vintage, with an ‘old-school’ scent, yet it fits perfectly into modern life. For the brave, a real treat.

  • hedonistaustero

A masterpiece: pure masculinity, unadorned, boreal, rugged, and primal. The opening hits you with pine, absinthe, oregano, galbanum, petitgrain, and castoreum—everything is green, coniferous, and wild. Intense yet not aggressive or sharp, always balanced. Don’t expect a powerhouse; it’s for personal enjoyment if you’re into this style. The dry down is a beautiful blend of fir, musk, subtle leather, and resins that last hours on the skin.

  • A perfume forbidden for children and timid men: pure old-school essence. The opening is dirty and animalic, but it settles over time to reveal a glorious dry-down that is masculine and elegant. A 10/10 if you like fougères and are looking for something at a good price, don’t even hesitate.

  • Green, aromatic, and with that classic edge that doesn’t accept half-measures: it’s masculine, characterful, and mature. I love it from start to finish without a single sweet note slipping in. It opens with pure pine, landing somewhere between a fougère and a barbershop scent, hooking you with its unique story. It has a clean, evocative touch; I feel relaxed in a humid forest enjoying the view. As it dries, you get musk and rough woods. Perfect for enjoying at home with the family, it makes me feel that mature dad. Good price, low longevity, but highly recommended for vintage lovers.
