As a brand fan and collector who already owns everything, I have to say I was hugely disappointed by the scent. It’s nothing new; in fact, if you smell Red King or Black King, they’re almost identical—just a couple of different notes, but the overall smell is the same. I thought adding almonds would surprise me after so long without innovation, but I’m still sticking with the original.
It has a bit of Joop Extreme without the cherry on top, some One Million, and that creamy, vanilla heliotrope flower… it smells good but doesn’t transport me like when I first smelled Joop Homme. But this fragrance has that touch of mixing several icons into one bottle, which attracts new fans because it’s more versatile and less atomic. Note: I give it an 8/10, with a trail and longevity of easily 8 hours.
It wouldn’t be crazy to say it mixes the regular Joop with Wow. There are also distant comparisons to Gaultier 2 and the ubiquitous Stronger With You family. For me, who loves the polarizing Joop Homme DNA, I find this one a bit tiring.
I own several great fragrances, but maybe I just didn’t have the right pH balance, as I’ve never received a compliment from my wife until now. This was the one: she smelled it, said it smelled good, and she liked it. I love how it dries down; I’d give it an 8/10.

I think this line is way underrated. As a fan of the original, it’s an interesting flanker with brutal performance; although it reminds you of its siblings, it keeps that unmistakable Joop! DNA.
