“HIM” is definitely sweeter and woodier than the ‘HM Hanae Mori for men’. Much longer-lasting and less fresh. It’s an exuberant fragrance with personality; I don’t find it suitable for 20-year-olds.
Great fragrance with a lot of personality. Ideal for cool nights. Cinnamon, cardamom, fir, and tonka bean are clearly perceptible. The fig leaf is very pronounced, like in ‘Un Jardin au Sud de la Méditerranée’ by Hermes. I also note pepper and teak. It’s semi-sweet, woody, and spicy. Good fixation and trail. For me, it’s a 9.5/10.
I couldn’t detect the individual notes, so I’ll describe it as a whole: it smells acidic and slightly sweet, like that ‘Be Light’ Jamaica-flavored drink (which is terrible). It also smells just like an Old Spice deodorant I remember; wearing both makes me feel like I’m drinking that minty, artificial, sweet, and acidic beverage. At first, I sensed acidity, but after an hour it faded and I noticed something creamy. Unlike others, I didn’t sense it as woody, spicy, or figgy. Maybe I caught hints of cinnamon, tangerine, and a touch of tonka bean. It’s not generic, but I’ve smelled similar things. The downside is that resemblance to that cheap drink; it makes me feel like it’s a cheap, run-of-the-mill fragrance, nothing memorable, just another one of the crowd. It lasted about 10 hours: 5 hours of medium sillage and 5 of low, though in the last 5 hours it spiked in strength for moments. Best for intermediate climates and ages 25 and up. If I had to rate it, I’d give it a 5/10: it doesn’t deserve more.
I couldn’t detect the individual notes, so I’m describing the fragrance itself. It’s somewhat acidic and slightly sweet, just like that drink sold here called ‘Be Light’ in Jamaica flavor (very bad, by the way). There’s an Old Spice deodorant that smells the same; when I use them, I feel like I’m drinking that minty, artificial, sweet, and acidic drink. Initially, I felt acidity, but after an hour it dropped and became creamy. Unlike others, I didn’t feel it was woody or spicy; I know the fig leaf scent well and didn’t notice it. If I had to isolate notes, it would be cinnamon, maybe orange, and some tonka bean. It doesn’t feel very generic, but I’ve smelled others with a similar vibe. What I didn’t like was that huge resemblance to that cheap drink, which makes me feel it’s a cheap, run-of-the-mill fragrance, nothing memorable, just another one. It lasted about 10 hours: 5 hours of medium trail and 5 hours of low trail, though in the last 5 hours it sometimes gained strength. For intermediate climates, neither too cold nor too hot, ages 25 and up. I don’t usually rate, but if I had to, I’d give it a 5/10; it doesn’t deserve more.
It smells almost identical to Gucci Pour Homme II: a lemon opening, fine woods, and fascinating violet leaf notes. It’s an exquisite essence for any time or occasion, not intrusive, ideal for men who want to enjoy a balsamic and sweet scent while feeling confident. Longevity and sillage are medium to low, but at a very accessible price. Highly recommended if you like Gucci II.
Very similar to Gucci Pour Homme II: lemon opening, fine woods, and fascinating violet leaves. It’s an exquisite essence for any hour or occasion, not intrusive, ideal for men who want to enjoy their balsamic and sweet scent feeling secure. Longevity and trail are medium-low at a very accessible price. Highly recommended if you like Gucci II.
Hanae Mori Him is a woody-spicy fragrance, perhaps little known, but its scent is really good. At first, you get citrus notes combined with herbs, violet, and an amber touch. It reminds me a bit of fragrances with fruit and cinnamon like 1 Million Prive. After 30 minutes, the fruits disappear and the woods and spices stand out, making it warmer without being heavy; now it reminds me more of Spicebomb. I’ve read it’s similar to Gucci Pour Homme II, but I haven’t tried it to confirm. I like it; it’s versatile, though its best use is in temperate climates, serving for formal or casual situations. Average longevity of 8 to 10 hours with average projection. I recommend it if you like Spicebomb or 1 Million Prive, as it’s much cheaper. Thanks to my friend @arp for the sample.
I stumbled upon this by chance during an afternoon test at Juliá in Valencia, looking for something to handle the heat. It competes with the big names like Montale or Mancera, smells niche, and has a very reasonable price. It doesn’t remind me of Spicebomb; I’ve never liked that line. It has a strong, unique personality. It’s a well-crafted spicy wood: opens with violet, bergamot, and tangerine, highlighting cardamom and black pepper. The heart features cinnamon and fig with a natural touch of tonka bean. The base is cedar and teak that add elegance, rounded out by amber, balsam fir, and musk. For me, it’s fantastic and rich in notes, even though it’s from 2012. It projects well, smells expensive and natural, works in the heat, during the day, and maybe at night. It’s not easy to find, but this was an exception. Lola is a professional who knows her stuff; I’m happy to wear it and it’s already generated tons of compliments in under 24 hours. It suits me perfectly and puts me in a good mood; I can’t ask for more. NOTE: It was cheap when I bought it, but now it’s pricey, with discounts around 80 euros, so watch out.
I stumbled upon this by chance during a test at Juliá in Valencia, looking for something for this heat. It competes with Montale, Mancera, or Juliette Has a Gun; it smells niche and performs like one at a very reasonable price. It doesn’t smell much like Spicebomb, which I never liked. It has a tremendous unique personality. It’s a tasteful spicy wood: opens with violet, bergamot, and orange, highlighting cardamom and black pepper. The heart has cinnamon, fig leaf, and tonka bean for a natural sweetness. The base features white cedar, teak, and amber for elegance, along with balsam fir and musk. It’s excellent, rich in notes, and suitable for heat, day, and maybe night. It’s not easy to find, but here it was the exception. Lola is a professional who hits the mark; I’m very happy wearing it, and within 24 hours it generated compliments. I wear it comfortably and it puts me in a good mood. NOTE: It was economical back in the day, but it’s pricey now; with discounts, it’s almost 80 euros, watch out.
It’s one of my favorites; I’ve already bought two 100ml bottles. To my nose, the opening smells like a sweet Mexican candy, similar to a Rellerindo with orange. That sweet scent fades after about 30 minutes, giving way to spices. It’s simple and doesn’t feel formal. It lasts a solid 4 hours, and the orange develops beautifully with that woody-spicy touch.
