Descripción

Higher by Dior is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2001, this composition was created by Olivier Gillotin and Olivier Pescheux. The top notes unfold a vibrant freshness with pear, basil, lemon, and peach; the heart reveals green woods and spices with cypress, rosemary, pepper, and cardamom; while the base notes offer a warm and persistent foundation of musk and cedar.

The opening with fresh fruits, peach, and pear is interesting, though it doesn’t last long, with the freshness of basil and a hint of lemon. It reminded me of Polo Black due to its mango note. At three hours, I detected a green note, probably rosemary, with a spicy touch. At seven hours, a soft musk with a pleasant woodiness emerged, which is somewhat unusual, and the pear reappears occasionally like a ghost. I see it as good for the office: striking but not overpowering fruity notes, ending in soft, calm wood. It’s similar to the aromatic woody style of Polo Black. Due to its freshness, I think it’s appropriate for summer and spring, better suited for daytime wear.

Starts with fresh fruit notes—peach and pear—that fade quickly, mixed with basil and lemon. Reminded me of Polo Black because of that mango vibe. After three hours, a green note emerges, like rosemary, with a spicy spice touch. By seven hours, it smells of soft musk and pleasant wood, which is unusual. The pear reappears occasionally like a ghost. It’s great for the office: striking but not overpowering fruity notes, ending in calm wood. It has that aromatic woody style of Polo Black. Thanks to its freshness, it’s ideal for summer and spring, better suited for daytime wear.

This perfume is mind-blowing… far away from here lies one of my favorite fragrances; I agree with Luis64: it’s very elegant and stands out.

  • Higher is very specific for Dior; it barely fits their masculine lines and aligns more with their fresh feminine scents. It’s a well-crafted, delicate, subtle, and pale aroma with aquatic nuances. The opening is fresh like a spring breeze, light and unburdened, featuring juicy and aromatic pear notes with classic lines that evolve into a dry, powdery woody base without losing that initial touch, blending sensationally on the skin. I like it, though the longevity is decent, it has a major drawback: the projection is extremely weak. It feels like a skin scent and fades quite quickly, sticking to the skin immediately. For the price, I don’t think it’s worth it. Rating: 5

  • Higher is very particular for Dior; it barely fits the masculine lines, leaning more toward fresh feminine scents. It’s a well-crafted aroma: delicate, subtle, pale, with aquatic nuances. The opening is fresh like a spring breeze, light, nothing heavy, featuring a juicy and highly aromatic pear with classic lines that evolve into a dry woody base with powdery touches, without losing that pear note that blends sensationally on skin. I like it, and although the longevity is correct, it has a major drawback: the projection is very weak, almost a skin scent, and fades quite a bit. It sticks to the skin immediately, and given the price, I don’t find it worth it. Rating: 5.

  • Dior Higher 2nd Review. It’s acidified cedarwood with a sweet-fruity twist. Works for semi-formal to formal daytime wear, with top-tier longevity and projection. A three-season daytime scent that also handles cool nights in semi-formal settings. The opening is fresh and citrusy, but with that Dior heritage that seamlessly blends fruit with an unusual sweetness alongside the cedar. After an hour, it becomes linear: the lime sweetness merges with the rest, gaining a green, youthful character. Basil, rosemary, and good cypress settle over a solid cedar base, which emerges at 6 hours and trails off gently until 9 hours on skin. Reminded me of Jazz at times, with a beautiful floral-masculine vibe, very 90s. Higher achieved what Zegna Scene couldn’t: I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another bottle if I saw it. Discontinued in Mexico and North America, so if you catch it, try it and enjoy this fading beauty. Its best moment is late afternoon/evening in the heat or rainy days, bringing positivity. NOTE: The revised version comes in aluminum; the glass one was reformulated and performs less. In short, Higher honors its name, highly recommended.

It’s a three-season daytime scent that also works for cool nights in semi-formal settings. The opening is fresh and citrusy, yet carries that Dior heritage that seamlessly blends fruit with an unusual sweetness alongside the cedar. After an hour, it becomes linear: the lime sweetness merges with the rest, gaining a green, cheerful character. Basil, rosemary, and good cypress settle over a solid cedar base, which emerges at the 6-hour mark with a long trail lasting until 9 hours on skin. It reminded me of Jazz at times, with a beautiful masculine floral behavior, very 90s style. Higher achieved what Scene by Zegna couldn’t: I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another bottle if I see it. It’s discontinued in Mexico and North America, so if you catch it, try it and enjoy this beauty before it’s gone. Its best moment is late afternoon/evening in heat or rainy days, adding positivity. With pear fragrances in the spotlight, this is the king: it smells like pear, fruit, and wood. Despite being an oldie, it’s still super current for informal spring and summer. Starts fresh, like bergamot, moves into sweet fruits without getting cloying. The pear is green, not ripe, with aquatic and musky touches. Dry and light, the wood is barely noticeable. Reformulated but activates with heat and lasts through many layers without becoming overwhelming. Hard to find these days; it’s not in many local perfumeries anymore, only in big department stores or online. For pear lovers: a summery, aquatic pear. Ideal for northern heat, though it works well in autumn too. Launched in 2001 but still on trend.

  • I’m writing this thinking of Spartacus’s take on Bulgari Black, which perfectly described that late 90s/early 2000s era: playful, liberal nights but days dedicated to aesthetics and a healthy physique. While nights were spent downing vodka and popping pills, days were about body worship—sleeveless tees and Operation Triunfo cars. The market created the metrosexual: men who shaved their legs, splurged on clothes, and, of course, smelled good. If nights were about sexy perfumes, days were an ode to hygiene and delicate masculinity. Enter Dior Higher, the perfume of the 2000s: light, luminous, fresh, sexy, and shameless. It follows all the era’s rules: minimalist (lemon, cypress, wood), clean, seductive with pear notes that pair beautifully with cypress over a musky base. Thin, low sillage, very pleasant for yourself and others. Subtle and with moderate longevity. You have to understand it as the fruit of an optimistic era that died cruelly. Today, its former users—the ones who wanted to be Brad Pitt—are fat, living with their parents, drowning in endless mortgages. Bottom line, they’re genuine trash who thought life was beautiful and ended up buried.

Grabbed it for the price and have no regrets; it smells fucking amazing and I use it all the time.

Wonderful fragrance. Its pear aroma is delicious. A pity it’s discontinued. Scent 10/10, Trail 7/10, Longevity 7/10. Recommended.

  • Fresh, herbal, and fruity. Very noticeable basil opening, fresh, green… I love it because it combines with the pear, transforming it from herbal to fruity. Hence, pear +10, all notes come with it. The peach adds sweetness, the rosemary keeps it green and regulates that sweetness with a masculine touch. As it dries down, the green turns to wood from the cedar, and the musk with cardamom makes it sweeter on the skin. Lovely fragrance, well-combined natural notes. Not great projection, but I love it for the quality. Great for personal enjoyment. Recommended use: warm or temperate climate, better during the day.

  • themacflayer

Where did user Pablo get the idea that it’s discontinued? Those scares don’t happen. I see it for sale on the Dior website. It’s my go-to scent. A wonderful masterpiece.

  • I agree: it’s a summery pear with its rough side that rounds out with cedar and musks. A true Dior gem. I used to wear it a lot when I was a teenager. Wish it never gets discontinued, unfortunately for fragrance lovers. The muguet note is the one that has suffered the most from reformulations. That aromatic-woody note I don’t think can be reformulated due to IFRA, let’s pray.

  • I agree that it’s a summery pear with that rough edge that gets rounded out by cedar and musks. A true gem in perfumery and from Dior; I used it a lot when I was a teenager. I hope it never gets discontinued, unfortunately for fragrance lovers. The lily-of-the-valley note is the one that’s suffered the most from reformulations. I don’t think this aromatic-woody part is due to IFRA restrictions, let’s pray.

  • A masterpiece where the fruity elements reach the limit without being unpleasant. More complex than it seems, a delicious cocktail of fruits and herbs. Although they recommend it for under-30s, I wear it at 40 because it’s exquisite. Quality ingredients, as expected from Dior. So well executed that I buy it blindly for the younger crowd. The pear in its best expression.

Ideal for summer if you don’t like citrus. It’s a delicious fruity scent, strong pear and peach notes with a herbal touch. I have a 2016 batch and it lasts 6-7 hours longer than others. 10/10 perfume for daily and casual use.

  • What a find today. I was passing by Julia in Platja d’Aro and saw that Dior on the high shelves, sparking my curiosity. I tried it and wow, it smells great. I agree: it’s a hidden gem. It’s easy to understand: Drakkar Noir + H24. A soft Drakkar base with that H24 apple/pear. At first, the apple is sharp, but as it dries down, it fits the Drakkar DNA perfectly. It smells wonderful. Retro but modernized, it fits well; it could be a flanker for H24. It smells fine, sweet but not that modern sweet. Versatile, clean, with a sweet touch for night. Common yet different, simple with character. Tremendous, 100% recommended.

Dior Higher is fresh, herbal, and clean. Upon application, basil dominates with pear and then peach; the base is musky. You can tell the quality of the ingredients, typical of Dior. When it launched in the 2000s, it was a clone bomb, easy to guess why. I see it for the city on hot spring and summer days. It’s a timeless scent, very different from today’s offerings. I picked it up cheap at BS AS and use it in this 30-degree heat.
